The mother of Scarlett Keeling, the British teenager killed in Goa, has been warned she may have to give evidence from prison by video to the trial of the two men accused of manslaughter.

Fiona MacKeown is awaiting sentencing in the UK for benefit fraud, but is hoping to travel to India to attend the trial.

She has been warned by a judge in the UK that she is likely to be given a custodial sentence. Today a state prosecutor in Goa, SR Rivankar, said there were no plans to take her evidence early, even if that meant she had been jailed before she could testify.

Scarlett's 'dad' found dead in his home‎

THE former lover of Fiona MacKeown, the mother of teenager Scarlett Keeling, who was killed in Goa in 2008, has been found dead at his Torquay home.

Adam Foster, 39, was pronounced dead by paramedics on Monday after they went to his Victoria Road home. He is the father of Scarlett's younger siblings Trinity Willow and Aurora Lupe.

Scarlett mother Fiona MacKeown sentenced for fraud‎

The mother of Devon teenager Scarlett Keeling, who was killed on a beach in India, has been given an eight-month suspended jail term for benefit fraud.

At Exeter Crown Court, Fiona MacKeown, 44, of Meddon, Devon, was also ordered to do 150 hours of community work.

She admitted falsely claiming £19,000 of income support between February 2005 and March 2008.

The period included the time when 15-year-old Scarlett was raped and killed on a family holiday to Goa.

The jail term was suspended for two years.

Speaking outside the court after sentencing, MacKeown told BBC News: "I didn't think it was such a big deal - obviously it is.

"Maybe other people will learn from this to be a bit more careful."

Two men are currently on trial in India accused of killing and assaulting Scarlett.

Probe Goa home minister's son in Scarlett case'‎

Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik's son Roy should be probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the death of British teenager Scarlett Keeling, her mother Fiona Mackeown said here Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, Mackeown, who is in Goa to depose before a trial court in connection with her daughter's culpable homicide trial, also said that those accused of killing her daughter were still roaming scot-free.
