Search for Juliani Cardenas Continues‎

No more divers in the Delta Mendota Canal; but that does not mean the search is over for little Juliani Cardenas. The canal runs for another 90 miles and cops in four counties are now preparing to step up patrols as the CHP continues to scan the waterway by air.

As car number 16 was pulled from the water on Saturday, 3-D sonar confirmed there are no bodies in the area where the suspect’s car was found on Friday. ”Because bodies and victims can travel all the way down to the end; which is about 90 miles or so from here. It’s just not feasible for us to search this entire length of the canal,” says Deputy Royjinder Singh.”

Modesto vigil for missing Patterson boy‎

A vigil for Juliani Cardenas, the 4-year-old boy Patterson boy allegedly abducted by his mother's former boyfriend will be held tonight in Modesto's Graceada Park.

The vigil is from 6 to 8 p.m. in the park at Needham Street and Park Avenue.

Juliani's mother, Tabitha Cardenas, will be there, as will friends of the family from Patterson and Modesto.

Amber Alert update‎

Divers ended their search of a California canal looking for the bodies of a missing 4-year-old boy and his alleged kidnapper.

They did not find any bodies in the canal however they did find the suspect's car underwater.

A dive team searched an underwater tunnel over the weekend for Juliani Cardenas and 27-year-old Jose Esteban Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is accused of snatching the boy from the boy's grandmother.

CHP to patrol canal for boy and alleged kidnapper‎

In Stanislaus County, the search for 4-year-old Juliani Cardenas and his suspected kidnapper has moved into a different stage.

Divers officially ended a search of the canal on Saturday. Last Friday, they found the car that belonged to the suspect, Jose Rodriguez. The vehicle was empty.

Authorities are now relying on a California Highway Patrol airplane and sheriff patrols along the canal bank to spot any bodies in the water. They're also asking for the public to report any information that could help with the investigation.

Juliani Cardenas case: Second vigil held for missing California boy‎

Another vigil was held Sunday night in Modesto for missing California boy, Juliani Cardenas, where those in attendance prayed for the 4-year-old’s safe return.

The boy’s mother, Tabitha Cardenas, attended the emotional vigil -- her second in only three days.

Lorina Gill, who took part in the event told News 10 that she did not know Juliani or his mother, but hoped he will return home safely.

Breaking News: Child's Body Pulled From Canal‎

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department held a news conference on Tuesday to announce the discovery of a small child's body, believed to be 4-year-old Juliani Cardenas.

Sheriff Adam Christianson reported the body was found near the town of Santa Nella in the Delta Mendota Canal. That's the same canal where the suspect’s car was found over the weekend.

Sheriff: Body in Delta-Mendota Canal is missing 4-year-old‎

Authorities said Tuesday they found the body of a 4-year-old boy in a Central California canal, capping the search for the child who was kidnapped from his home two weeks ago.

A water department worker spotted Juliani Cardenas' body floating in the Delta-Mendota Canal and called 911 around 7:30 a.m., said Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson. The body was found about 30 miles downstream from where a vehicle belonging to the man suspected of kidnapping Juliani was recovered last week.

"From the very beginning, we wanted to find little Juliani alive. That was our goal," Christianson said. But as the days progressed, "we just knew that wouldn't happen."

A body found Tuesday in the Delta-Mendota Canal closely matches a description of kidnapped 4-year-old Juliani Cardenas, and Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson offered condolences to the child's family.

However, the sheriff said formal DNA analysis needed to make a formal identification will likely take weeks.

"We want offer our deepest condolences" to the Cardenas family, Christianson said during a news conference outside of Patterson City Hall.

On March 3rd, she’s due to have a daughter by the man who stands accused of murdering her 4-year-old son Juliani.

...... The only comment from Tabitha Cardenas made on her own behalf today was in Facebook postings to friends and family. In them, she calls Juliani her “little angel.” But in the end, her message takes an angry turn when Tabitha says she hopes police recover the body of Jose Rodriguez, so she’ll have solace of knowing he’s dead too.

Autopsy results reveal boy found in canal drowned‎

Autopsy results of a young boy presumed to be Juliani Cardenas reveal he drowned, the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.

The body was discovered by a canal worker in Santa Nella on Tuesday morning, two weeks after Juliani was abducted from his home in Patterson by Jose Esteban Rodriguez, his mother's former boyfriend.

DNA results aren't expected until later this month, but the body matches 4-year-old Juliani's physical description and was clothed in the black "Spider-Man" shoes and pajamas he was wearing when he was abducted.

New information released on the little boy whose body was found in the Delta Mendota Canal in Merced County Tuesday morning.

Authorities believe the victim is four-year-old Juliani Cardenas. But they're still waiting on DNA test results for confirmation.

Fund set up to help pay for 4-year-old's funeral‎

A fund to help defray the cost of his funeral has been established at Bank of the West. Checks should be made out to Bank of the West in care of the Juliani Cardenas fund.

The family said Wednesday that they are working out details of a service.

Donations also are being accepted at Modesto Junior College's Student Development and Campus Life Office.

The Hooligans Motorcycle Club will hold a memorial ride Saturday to raise money for the fund.

DNA Confirms Body Found in Canal is Juliani‎

A body found in the Delta-Mendota canal near Santa Nella has been positively identified as that of 4-year-old Juliani Cardenas from Patterson.

Officials with the California Department of Justice ran DNA samples from the body and it matched DNA provided by Juliani's mother, Tabitha. She has been notified about the identification.

Body floating in canal thought to be California kidnapper‎

A floating body was found Saturday that authorities believe to be the man who kidnapped his ex-girlfriend's 4-year-old son and drove with him into a canal.

A California water authority employee saw the body, believed to be that of Jose Esteban Rodriguez, at about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. It was discovered in a part of the 117-mile Delta-Mendota Canal in the northern California city of Patterson, according to a press release from the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.
