Casey Jury Returns From Deliberations Without Verdict

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Jurors in the Casey Anthony murder trial have ended their first day of deliberations without reaching a verdict on Monday. Monday marked day 46, including jury selection, in Casey's trial. She's accused of killing Caylee.
Judge Belvin Perry called the jurors into the courtroom at 6:00 p.m. on Monday and dismissed them for the night. The sequestered jury of seven women and five men will head back to their hotel and resume deliberating Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Casey Anthony was found not guilty Tuesday of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, in a case that captivated the nation as it played out on national television from the moment the toddler was reported missing three years ago.

Officials said Casey is back in the Orange County jail and remains in protective custody.

Anyone know what the jury ratio was? Can there be an appeal? very doubtful I guess if not impossible. She'll be villified for life and whole family will be I'm guessing, an outside prison.

The defense teams behaviour was down right awful with hand gestures etc. ! Well she sure got the best team that is for sure !! I am so so doubtful it was justice. What mother would do this? It's beyond mad !

I must say that I am very saddened by the verdict, but I am not surprised. I kept a very close watch of the trial in the evenings and I honestly do not feel that the prosecution proved their case for 1st degree, pre-meditated murder, manslaughter or aggrivated or elevated child abuse. I MOST certainly think that Casey Anthony knows exactly what happened to her child and quite possibly disposed of her remains, which to me leaves her punishable on some level, but the sticking points for me were:
-no DNA evidence at the crime scene from Casey
-no chloroform on the car seat (if as they say she did infact continuously do that to Caylee)
-no bodily fluids in the car

Another thing that struck me is that some of the prosecution's own witnesses called Casey a good mother. It's all very head scratching. The evidence in court is far different than the media's interpretation and portrayal and I feel sick for the jurors who had to make that choice.

The defense was actually laughable and a gross display to watch and any mother doesn't wait 31 days to report their child missing. I wouldn't wait 31 minutes, so I feel she is guilty of something but what the prosecution went for just didn't seem proved to me and for that I am sorry, because an evil person will be out the July 13.

Thanks ladies for that info. It's very interesting now to see how it all panned out. Just amazing. I wonder were there bully tactics among the jurors, it just seems odd !

I think the jury is given such specific direction on what they evidence needs to convey to establish reasonable doubt that they felt they couldn't convict her. I don't think for a minute that everyone of them doesn't feel or know she is responsible for something but because of the way the laws and judicial system work, they couldn't convict her. It is sad, but at the end of the day even though her behaviour doesn't add up there still wasn't evidence that she killed or even harmed her child.

I agree, emtd...I think that's exactly what happened and that those jurors' hands were tied by the lack of concrete evidence. It is such a tragedy and it makes me extremely sad and angry that there will be no justice for Caylee as far as the law is concerned.

oh it's maddening as the delays in family finding out if that is even the truth now was many months. I think she's very inciteful and did a lot of research as people can now on the internet. It sits very very wrong.

I also think that the prosecution made a HUGE strategical error when they made this a death penalty case. Those jurors had a life in the balance and that on their hands and minds if they convicted. At any rate I feel she is heartless. She knows what happened to that child and was directly or indirectly responsible for her death and somehow manage to make it the "Casey Show" the entire time there were searches for her child. Sickening, just sickening

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Sources have told WFTV that Casey Anthony boarded a plane at the Orlando Executive Airport at about 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning. WFTV does not know where the plane is headed. Sources, however, did say that the plane has a connection to an attorney formerly on her case.
