Authorities Look For Clues In Disappearance

Multnomah County Sheriff deputies said they returned to Sauvie Island to look for any clues in the Kyron Horman disappearance but wouldn't comment on exact search locations or why things seem to be focused around the water.

This is the first time since mid-October that search crews were on the island and deputies say Saturday dive teams were in the water looking for clues.

Kyron search: Dive teams back on Sauvie Island‎

Dive teams from eight different agencies are back out on Sauvie Island over the weekend, searching for clues to the disappearance of Portland elementary student Kyron Horman.

A spokesperson for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office says about 50 people are part of the search, including paid workers and volunteers.

Multnomah County Sheriff Public Information Officer Mary Lindstrand tells us the search is only in the water. Near the end of the day Saturday Lindstrand said searchers "found nothing of note" – that she can tell us about.

The dive teams are continuing the search on Sunday.

Sonar Equipment Helping Searchers In Kyron Horman Case‎

Scouring the murky bottom of the Multnomah Channel is a tedious and time consuming task, but high-tech equipment is making the job easier for searchers.

Investigators from several agencies are out on the water this weekend. They tell FOX 12 visibility is poor to bad for divers.

"You're looking at maybe one-foot of visibility at the most, so it's diving by brail" says Deputy Doug Olsen with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

When divers do get into the water, they aren't simply jumping in and looking around. Sophisticated sonar equipment is used beforehand to pinpoint exact locations where they should look first.

"Basically, we're just taking the sonar images off the bottom. We can adjust it for different widths depending on where we are," says Multnomah County Deputy Brett Lort.

The sonar scans about 100-feet off each side of the boat.

"We're just looking for images that are going to be outside of the ordinary. Things that aren't large logs and trees. Then we mark those spots and have the divers try to find those spots later," Lort says.

Divers seek Kyron clues in Sauvie Island waters‎

Dive teams from around the region converged on Sauvie Island this weekend, searching the waters around and on the island for any sign of Kyron Horman.

It's been more than five months since the then-second-grader vanished from the area around Skyline Middle School. Thousands of tips, accusations, speculations and searches later, Sauvie Island remains the main area to be searched, and searched again.

Much of that speculation has centered on Terri Horman, Kyron's stepmother, who was the last adult reported to have seen him. Kyron's father, Kaine Horman, filed for divorce against Terri, and is no longer living with her. She has not been charged with any crime.

Stepmom Had 'Severe Hatred' for Kyron Horman, Mom Says‎

The mother of missing 8-year-old Kyron Horman says the Oregon boy's stepmother had a "severe hatred" for him and could have harmed him "in the worst possible way."

Kyron's mother, Desiree Young, and father, Kaine Horman, have said for months that they believe stepmother Terri Moulton Horman was involved in the boy's disappearance. Kyron vanished in June, and his father has since filed for divorce.

On Nov. 12, police showed Young e-mails that Moulton Horman wrote to her friends about Kyron, NBC reported today.

"It's very clear from Terri's horrible words that she had a severe hatred for Kyron," Young said on NBC's "Today" show. "She blamed a lot of the marital problems between Kaine and herself on Kyron. It was a huge point of contention in their marriage.

Kaine Horman To Speak In Wake Of Weekend Search‎

The father of missing Portland boy Kyron Horman says the relationship between his wife and son was strained prior to the boy’s disappearance.

In a news conference with Portland's media today, Kaine Horman said he had arguments with his wife about how he found her relationship with their children “unacceptable.”

He says he has been briefed on e-mails and phone calls Terri Horman has had with other people and that they’ve contributed to his belief that his estranged wife is an alcoholic.

He went on to call his estranged wife “a master of deception and misdirection.”

“We’re doing anything we can to discover, 'Who is this person we've been around?' It's not the person we thought it was. It's a completely different person living a separate life,” Kaine Horman said.

On a Today Show exclusive, Desiree Young, mother to 8-year-old Kyron Horman, who has been missing since June 4 of this year, speaks out against her ex-husband and father to Kyron, Kaine Horman.

Up until this point in the investigation of the missing child, the biological parents of Kyron have remained united in the search for their son and united in the belief that Terry Horman, Kaine's current spouse, whom Kaine is seeking a divorce from, has been withholding information and is in some way involved in the disappearance of their son.

According to reports on MSNBC's Today Show, it was through papers filed with the court by Kaine against his wife, Terry, that Desiree learned of certain behaviors exhibited by Terry that Desiree felt she should have been informed of by Kaine.

Kaine Horman spoke to a gathering of media at the Wall of Hope Monday morning, addressing the case surrounding his missing son, Kyron Horman, as well as statements made by the boy's mother, Desiree Young.

Young appeared on the Today Show earlier Monday, and revealed that officials had provided her and Kaine with emails Terri had written.

"It's very clear from Terri's horrible words that she had a severe hatred towards Kyron," Young said.

Kaine reiterated his belief that Terri had something to do with Kyron's disappearance.

"She could have done it on her own, or with an accomplice," Kaine said. "Do I hope she had an accomplice? Absolutely, I do. Cause then there's a higher probability he's alive."

Despite his belief that Terri had something to do with Kyron's disappearance, Kaine said he didn't foresee this as a possibility.

"She's a master of deception and misdirection," Kaine said.

"Her (Terri's) relationships with the children in general were not acceptable," he added.

Kyron's parents now at odds‎

Five months after the disappearance of their 7-year-old son, Kaine Horman and Desiree Young are having a visible falling out.

Kaine Horman spoke to reporters alone on a foggy Monday morning at the Wall of Hope – the chain-link fence nearby Skyline School that’s been a shrine to missing Kyron. The boy disappeared from the school June 4 after his mother, Terri Horman, brought him to a school science fair.

Kaine spoke with the media three days after Desiree Young appeared solo on the Today Show, during which she expressed surprise at information investigators showed her that day.

....On Monday Kaine told reporters that 23-month-old Kiara does ask about Kyron, and recalled that Kyron would come sit on the bed next to her to read when he came home from school. Kaine also said Kiara does not ask about her mom, who called the toddler by the pet name Kitty. Earlier this month Terry withdrew her request to share parenting time with the child.

In an exclusive interview on the Today Show, Desiree Young appeared solo and discussed the latest in the search for her son, Kyron Horman.

As recently as this weekend, divers explored the waters of Sauvie Island in hopes of obtaining clues about what happened to the missing boy.

Both Kyron's parents - Kaine Horman and Desiree - have stated publicly their belief that Terri Horman, Kyron's stepmother, had something to do with Kyron's disappearance.

He was last seen at Skyline School on June 4. Terri Horman is the last known adult to have seen Kyron.

"It's clear she (Terri) could have hurt him (Kyron) in the worst possible way," Desiree told NBC's Meredith Viera in the interview.

Last week, authorities revealed to Young emails written by Terri Horman, and while she couldn't go into details about the specifics of the emails, she did say they painted a picture of hatred towards Kyron.

"It's very clear from Terri's horrible words that she had a severe hatred towards Kyron," Young said.

Kaine: There was no way to know son would disappear‎

Kaine Horman, the father of missing 8-year-old Kyron Horman, said he no longer feels responsible for what happened to his son, he said in an ABC News interview.

He acknowledged that four months ago he did, but after working with a therapist and family and friends, he came to realize he didn’t stand a chance against this circumstance.

Despite what Kyron’s biological mother, Desiree Young, said about her son’s stepmother, Terri Horman, “hating” Kyron, Kaine said he now believes there was no way to know his son would disappear. And he said he believes there was nothing he and others close to Kyron could have done to prevent it.

Horman Divorce Case On Hold Till Jan.‎

The divorce case between Kaine and Terri Horman will be put on hold until next year.

Court documents filed yesterday show that the judge has decided to delay the case until Jan. 6.

The judge says he understands Kaine Horman is living, “any human’s worst nightmare.” He says that's because of Kaine Horman's missing son, Kyron, as well as other factors.

The judge adds it’s even worse because police told Kaine Horman in June of his wife’s alleged plot to have someone kill him, as well as her alleged involvement in Kyron’s disappearance.

'Breakfast with Santa' keeps Kyron at forefront‎

When Terry and Patti Burns hosted a special "Breakfast with Santa" on Nov. 28 at their Loch Lolly Christmas Forest, the man in the big red suit wasn't the only star. Folks enjoyed the forest's many attractions, including a roaring fire pit, a resident gaggle of geese, and two visiting reindeer, Rudolph and Dasher. But the day's main draw was a boy who wasn't even there, Kyron Horman.

The event raised funds for the ongoing publicity efforts supporting the search for the 8-year-old boy who disappeared June 4 from Skyline Elementary School. In addition to breakfast, volunteers from the Bring Kyron Home organization sold items imprinted with his face and vital statistics. They also shared comfort with well-wishers, most of whom knew the boy only through the news.

6 months since Ore. boy disappeared‎

Come Friday, it will have been six months since 8-year-old Kyron Horman mysteriously disappeared from his school.

The missing boy's family issued a statement in anticipation of the grim aniversary.

"We recognize that it has now been 6 months since Kyron went missing and we are still deeply saddened that he is not home with us. We feel the investigation continues to move forward in a positive manner and is progressing toward finding out what happened to Kyron," the statement said.
