Police: Foul play suspected in Fayetteville girl's disappearance

Fayetteville’s Police spokeswoman Theresa Chance said, “There is definitely something not right about the situation. Foul play is expected.” Although it isn’t quite clear exactly how Shaniya could have left the house, Chance went on to say, “The circumstances surrounding her disappearances are very odd. A 5 year old usually is not awake at 5:30 am normally and they just wouldn’t leave their home. If she would have wandered out of her home she would be around here somewhere.”

Man arrested in girl's disappearance

The department released information about the arrest just before 2 a.m. Thursday.
Investigators did not say if Coe knows the child or the Davis family.
Police did not provide additional information about Davis' disappearance, and they did not say if they found her. She has been missing since Tuesday.

Suspect Arrested In Fayetteville Girl's Disappearance

Fayetteville police said Clarence Coe was arrested around 11 p.m. Wednesday and charged with first degree kidnapping in the case of missing 5-year-old Shaniya Davis. There is still no information on the girl's whereabouts.

Chance said an employee of the hotel called police to report seeing a child matching Shaniya's description. When police arrived McNeill was already gone. Authorities reviewed surveillance video and confirmed the child's identity through family members.

Shaniya Davis kidnapping case: Man arrested

A 29 year old man who was caught on the hotel surveillance video with Shaniya Davis, the 5 year girl, has been arrested.

The man, identified as Mario Andrette McNeil was detained by the police on Friday, November 13. He confessed to kidnapping Shaniya.
