It's strange Pam!! There was no news on google news search yesterday or last night but as you can see from these listings on google news it was apparently reported yesterday afternoon!! But they were not there I looked a couple of times yesterday and last night for updates!!

The first one would have been listed about 6pm last night!! (21 hrs ago)

The second one would have been listed even earlier.

Man, 26, in court on charges of murdering mother and daughter



A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with murdering Diane Fallon and her ten-year-old daughter after their bodies were discovered at the side of a road.
Ms Fallon, 43, and Holly disappeared from their home in the village of Cronberry, near Cumnock, Ayrshire, 12 days ago.

Thomas Smith, 26, from Cronberry, appeared in private at Ayr Sheriff Court charged with their murders.

Smith, understood to be a neighbour of Ms Fallon, is also accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice. He made no plea, was remanded in custody and will appear in court again next Thursday.

Police launched a search operation when Holly's teacher at St John's Primary reported that she had not attended classes.

The mother and daughter had last been seen by a neighbour in Cronberry after attending a fundraising fete on 28 March.

The search turned into a murder investigation after their bodies were found late on Wednesday afternoon on the A70, close to the Lugar river and the Templand Viaduct in Ayrshire. Smith was subsequently arrested.

The street where the mother and daughter lived was still cordoned off yesterday, as police continued their investigations into the deaths.

Family friend Angie Dabrowski, 48, spoke of her devastation at hearing of the deaths.

"Words can't describe what I'm feeling," she said.

"In a way, it's better to have some closure, but it's awful to think what might have happened to those two lovely people."

Describing her best friend as "caring" and "quiet", she said Diane had been a very trusting person.

But she added: "She wasn't very trusting of men. She would never take a lift from a stranger.

"Diane and Holly took care of each other. Sometimes I wonder who was the mum and who was the daughter. They were very close.

"It is such a tragedy and I will never forget either of them."

It was revealed last night that Ms Fallon's older children living in England had made an online plea for her to come forward just two days before her body was found.

Amy Henney, 18, from Watford, Hertfordshire, and Ms Fallon's other children, Robbie, 16, and Alex, 13, had written on a personal website: "Please come home mum and holly, we are all so worried x."

Reacting to the news of her death, Ms Henney said: "We're all absolutely devastated. I loved them so much and we will miss them terribly."

Holly's teachers also paid tribute, saying that her death had been "sorely felt".

Graham Short, the local council's executive director of educational and social services, said: "Holly was a valued member of a small rural school. She was bright, able and very well-liked by pupils and staff alike.

"In such a small school, the roll is just 52, Holly's death has been sorely felt."

Mr Short said that psychologists, social workers and a chaplain would be on hand when the children returned to school on 21 April, to help them come to terms with the loss.

The school will be holding a special assembly for both pupils and parents, and prayers will be said for Holly and her mother.

Mother and child murder charges

A man has appeared in court charged with the rape and murder of a mother and her 10-year-old daughter.

Thomas Smith, 26, is accused of attacking Diane and Holly Fallon at their home in Cronberry in Ayrshire earlier this year.

It is alleged they were killed in an almost identical fashion with blows to their heads and bodies, and ligatures tied around their necks.

Mr Smith pleaded not guilty and the case was adjourned until November.
