Trenton Duckett turned 2 years old on Aug. 10, 2006. On Aug. 27, 2006, just 17 days after his birthday, he was reported missing from his home shortly after 9:00 P.M. Although there have been hundreds of leads and tips investigated, to date, Trenton's whereabouts are still unknown.

Trenton was last seen with his mother, Melinda Duckett, age 21, while leaving her grandparents home in Lady Lake, FL at approximately 4:15 P.M. on Sat. Aug. 26th. After getting gas at approximately 5:30 P.M. in Leesburg that same evening, her & Trenton's whereabouts are unknown until the following day, Sun., Aug. 27th at approximately 8:15 A.M. when Melinda was seen alone at a Leesburg store by an acquaintance.

The accounts of Trenton's father, 21 year old Joshua Duckett's whereabouts had been seemingly satisfied by investigators through witness statements and a passed polygraph. The investigators were still substantiating the details given by Melinda of driving around in her silver Mitsubishi Eclipse with Trenton on Sunday and visiting family and friends. Melinda had not yet agreed to a polygraph exam. The investigation was hindered when tragically Melinda took her own life at the home of her grandparents on Sept. 8th, less than two weeks after Trenton was reported missing.

To date, investigators are still trying to piece together the timeline for Melinda Duckett between the hours of 5:30 P.M. on Aug. 26, until approximately 8:15 A.M. on Aug. 27th, 2006.

CNN's Nancy Grace has settled a lawsuit with the family of a central Florida woman who killed herself after appearing on Grace's show to discuss her missing son, a newspaper reported.

According to the Ocala Star Banner, Grace reached a settlement with Melinda Duckett's estate to create a $200,000 trust dedicated to locating Duckett's missing toddler, Trenton.

Trenton was 2 years old when he disappeared from Leesburg more than four years ago. Melinda Duckett killed herself shortly after appearing on Grace's talk show.

According to court records, the settlement calls for Grace to establish a $200,000 trust dedicated to finding Melinda Duckett’s missing son, Trenton, who was 2 when he disappeared. The suit accused Grace of inflicting emotional distress on Duckett, later named the prime suspect in the boy’s disappearance.

The father of a missing boy says a new lawsuit settlement gives him hope that he'll find his son.

Josh Duckett held a news conference on Tuesday afternoon, reacting to a settlement that was reached between his late wife Melinda's estate and CNN's Nancy Grace.

Duckett's son, Trenton Duckett, went missing in August 2006. A month later, authorities said Melinda Duckett shot herself dead after an interview with Grace.

Lawyers argued that Grace's interview pushed her to commit suicide.

The settlement calls for the establishment of a $200,000 trust for the sole purpose of finding Trenton Duckett.

"It's not every day that a child that's gone missing and their family gets $200,000 to help in the search for them," said Josh Duckett on Tuesday.

He said he does not see the settlement as a victory for anyone. He said the settlement provides fresh hope that his son will be found.

Joshua Duckett on Tuesday praised a settlement between CNN and the estate of Melinda Duckett, reached on behalf of his son, missing Leesburg child Trenton Duckett.

At the same time, he cautioned the public not to misuse the money in the name of allegedly trying to find little Trenton.

The agreement between CNN and the estate of Melinda Duckett was reached in federal court in Ocala and calls for $200,000 to be placed in a trust fund and administered by Kathy Calvert, Trenton's adoptive grandmother.

The purpose of the fund is to find Trenton, who would be 6 today.

Melinda Duckett family drops lawsuit against CNN's Nancy Grace in $200,000 settlement

The family of a mother who killed herself after being grilled by a CNN talkshow host about the disappearance of her son has dropped their lawsuit.

Melinda Duckett shot herself on September 8, 2006, the day after Nancy Grace questioned her involvement in the disappearance of her 2-year-old son, Trenton.

Duckett's family accused Grace of inflicting emotional distress on their 21-year-old daughter. They had also been suing CNN.

However, lawyers for Duckett’s family today announced they had dropped the four-year case and apologised to Grace and the network.

The wrongful death lawsuit has been halted and according to court records, the settlement calls for Grace to establish a $200,000 trust dedicated to finding Trenton.

If Trenton is found alive before his 13th birthday the funds will transfer to him, otherwise the money will go to the Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.

The settlement agreement was filed last week and still needs a federal judge’s approval.

The trial was due to begin next month.
