I'm watching a live police news conference on Sky News re this case.

It starts off very emotional.

  • Fred Kollar, undersheriff for the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, chokes up as he tells journalists Jaycee Lee Dugard was found alive in Antioch, California


  • She was found living with convicted sex offender / peadophile Phillip Garrido and his wife Nancy.


  • She was known as "Alissa."


  • Two young children (Girls, 11 & 15) were also found, these are thought to be the children of Phillip Garrido and Jaycee Dugard. Apparently she was forced to have these children with the known peadophile Phillip Garrido (that would have made Jaycee 14 when she gave birth to the eldest child!)


  • The police could have walked through the property and never seen the hiddden sheds/garden area where Jaycee lived with the children!! It was a garden hidden within a garden at the property. The area had basic toilet and shower facilities, similar to what you could expect when camping.


  • A car matching the one witnessed during the kidnapping has also been found at the property!!


  • Jaycee Dugard is in general good health.


  • Police were first alerted to Phillip Garrido on Tuesday when he and the two young girls (without Jaycee) were on the U.C. Berkeley campus handing out literature, Fred Kollar said.


  • He said a female police officer thought the behaviour between Garrido and the girls was strange and so she questioned him.


  • A background check showed that Phillip Garrido was on parole from kidnapping and rape charges in 1971 in Nevada.


  • Garrido, his wife, Nancy, 54 years old, along with Jaycee, and two girls, ages 11 and 15, showed up at the parole office. Parole officers had never seen Jaycee or the two children at any stage during their visits to Phillip Garrido


  • She had been taken to that property straight after the kidnapping and has been there since, the children were born there and lived there neither of them have been to school or to a doctor!!


  • It was later discovered that "Alissa" (Jaycee Dugard) was the 11-year-old South Lake Tahoe girl abducted 18 years ago, after information supplied by them could only have been known by Jaycee and her kidnappers.


  • A DNA sample has been taken to confirm identity but Police are sure the woman is Jayee Dugard


  • Both suspects are in custody.


  • Nancy Garrido was with Phillip Garrido during the kidnapping, she is the woman that was seen in the car at the time Jaycee was kidnapped!!


  • The Garridos will appear in El Dorado County Superior Court on Thursday.


  • Jaycee along with her two children has been reunited with her mother, She is now with reunification experts at a motel being reunited with other members of her family!!


  • There is a lot of information that Fred Kollar still doesn't know, and some pieces of information which he cannot discuss because of the impending court case!! He is still catching up on information which the police and the FBI have been obtaining from Jaycee and her kidnappers. He says as you can imagine they are very busy considering recent events
