Child kidnapped in Chipley‎

Local and state authorities are searching for an 18-month-old boy who was abducted from a residence in Chipley early Wednesday morning.

Just after 3 a.m. Wednesday, Washington County dispatch received a call in reference to Waylan Alexander Snipes being abducted from 553 Second St. in Chipley. Waylan was reportedly taken from the home by a man who fled with the child through the residential area near the home, while residents of the home pursued the suspect on foot, according to a press release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, William Anthony “Tony” Snipes, 36, of Ozark, Ala., then reportedly placed the child in a silver or gold Chevroley S10 truck with an Alabama license plate number 36A55B8 and was last seen traveling east on Old Bonifay Highway in Chipley.

Authorities: Grandfather kidnapped grandson, may be armed

Authorities say an Ozark grandfather who allegedly kidnapped his grandson from Florida early Wednesday is believed to be armed and dangerous, and residents who come into contact with him should immediately call 911.

An Amber Alert was issued for 18-month-old Waylan Alexander Snipes of Chipley, Fla., after he was taken from his home around 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities said his grandfather, 36-year-old Ozark resident William Anthony “Tony” Snipes, was the subject of searches in Holmes and Washington counties in Florida and Ozark beginning early Wednesday. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Snipes took baby Waylan from Chipley and fled from residents inside the home before driving away in a silver or gold Chevy S10 truck with Alabama license plate 26A55B8.

Andrea Gainey of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said Snipes is considered “armed and dangerous” and that residents who come in contact with him or baby Waylan should dial 911 immediately.

Amber Alert issued for missing Chipley child

CHIPLEY — An Amber Alert has been issued for an 18-month old child reported abducted from a Second Street Home in Chipley early Wednesday morning.

Authorities said they suspected William Anthony "Tony" Snipes, 36, took the child, Waylan Alexander Snipes, through a residential area as residents of the homes pursued the suspect on foot, according to a Chipley Police Department news release.

Florida Amber Alert issued; suspect possibly near Ozark‎

Florida Police area asking for help in finding a man accused of abducting a Florida toddler - they believe he could be headed to Ozark, Ala.

The toddler, 18-month-old Waylan Alexander Snipes was reported abducted from a home at 552 2nd Street in Chipley, Florida. The suspect, William Anthony Snipes, was seen fleeing the area on foot with the child around 3:12 a.m. Police say the suspect then placed the child in a silver or gold Chevy S10 truck with Alabama license plate # 26A55B8 and was last seen traveling east on Old Bonifay Highway in Chipley.

Police believe the suspect may be headed back to his residence in Ozark, Ala. with the child and they are asking the public to be on the lookout.

Police are also searching in Holmes County, Florida where the suspect has family.

Authorities in several states are searching for an 18-month-old boy who was abducted from a residence in Chipley early Wednesday morning. According to the Dothan Eagle, authorities said William Anthony “Tony” Snipes, 36, of Ozark, Ala., kidnapped his grandson Waylan Alexander Snipes in the middle of the night.

Florida Amber Alert Suspect Arrested In Kentucky; Child Safe‎‎

An 18-month-old child is safe and his grandfather in custody following an AMBER Alert issued Wednesday.......

...... A driver who had heard the AMBER Alert over the radio in Warren County, Kentucky, called police when he spotted the truck on Interstate 65.

William Anthony Snipes is charged with kidnapping, interference with custody, burglary, convicted felon in possession of ammunition, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a short barrel shotgun.
