Bayard Rooster will Ride for Somer

JACKSONVILLE, FL-- A local bar is helping organize a bike ride to raise money for Somer's family.

At Bayard Rooster biker bar, you can "stop in and cool your pipes." You can also sign up to "Ride for Somer."

Co-Organizer Laura Evans says, "We are trying to form the world's longest line of mad bikers. You know, we're coming and it's not okay. We want bikers to show support for Diena Thompson and everything she's going through, this is a horrible, horrible thing."

In addition to helping organize the bike ride, Evans is actively raising money for Somer's family by holding a fifty-fifty raffle. She says, "Traditionally the person who wins it, gives it back to the family."

And if you are wondering why the rough looking crowd is so generous, Evans can explain, "They do it because they support children, they do it because bikers support the family."

Funeral Arrangements

Family and friends who plan on attending the funeral service are asked to bring a purple balloon. Following the service, a balloon release will be held.

* A public visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 1140 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park
* Public memorial service for Somer Thompson will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Orange Park
* Procession from the church on Kingsley Avenue to Blanding Boulevard and then Jacksonville Memorial Gardens.
* A private graveside service will be held at Jacksonville Memorial Gardens.
