Did anone notice the Star article which says:

"Karen’s step-sister Caroline Meehan, 29, said last night: “If she has duped everyone, she has let down all her friends and wasted police time.”

How is a Caroline Meehan her step-sister?

So we have another Matthews who is partner to Leon (Shannon's Dad) and now a Meehan who is said to be Karen's step-sister. The same surnames keep re-appearing! It could all be that 'c' word that Tezza doesn't like us to say!

I will see if I can check it out! Maybe it was meant to be sister in law!

Surely there can't be any more involved in this incident!

So far 4 arrested (and Craig Meehan arrested and charged with child pronography)

- Michael Donovan (charged)
- Amanda Hyett
- Alice Meehan
- Karen Matthews

I really hope that Leon Rose (Dad), Martin Matthews (uncle) and June and Gordon Matthews (grandparents) are NOT involved. The Matthews were the ones who disowned Karen because of her relationship with Craig Meehan. I thought that these were 4 very genuine people and it will rock me to the core if I learn that they are part of the scam.

Amanda Hyett is married to Neil Hyett (they live next door to Karen Matthews).

I suppose it doesn't have to be family....friends could have colluded as well.

Leon Rose seemed genuine to me, he was out night after night and was actively involved in the search.
I would be very surprised if he was involved in this.
His reaction on the news when Shannon was found was genuine, he described it as , "Like winning the lottery!"

Shannon 'relative' asked for Madeleine fund cash

Someone claiming to be a member of the family of Shannon Matthews asked for money from the fund set up to help find Madeleine McCann, the McCann family's spokesman said today.

The person contacted fund administrators by telephone "on two or three occasions" to request cash, Clarence Mitchell told Sky News.

He said there had also been an "illiterate" email request along the same lines.

The requests came as police searched for nine-year-old Shannon, who was eventually discovered in the base of a bed at an address a mile from her home in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.

Mitchell said they had been "quite aggressive, along the lines of "you've got money and we need it". He added that the person had hinted their request was "partly a journalistic endeavour".

"It just aroused our suspicions, and I advised the fund not to touch it," he said.

I know I'm cynical but he'd not seen her for quite some time before she went missing.

Karen Matthews and Craig Meehan also put on a performance for the cameras and look how genuine that's turning out to be.

Just heard the link to Madeleine fund. It is some tangled web. I expect sentencing will be serious enough as wasting Police time to this level for this reason, reporting a missing child, is huge IMO. I'm so angry at the minute. I'm like you shell, words aren't coming out too clearly, quite speechless.

Matthews' solicitor, Roger Clapham, made an application for bail which was refused.

well they are a bunch of scumbags imo. how could you pretend your own child has been abducted and then try and get money from a couple whose daughter is really missing, through no fault of her own!! they will get what's coming. it's the kids i feel sorry for. what will happen to them now?
