CONCERN is growing for a nine-year-old Dewsbury girl who was reported missing last night.
Police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of Shannon Matthews, of Moorside Road, Dewsbury Moor, who was last seen on the playing fields behind Westmoor Junior School at around 7.30pm.

She is believed to have stayed for after-school activities at the school on Church Lane but failed to return home. She has never been missing before.

Shannon is described as white, slim, around 4ft 1in tall, with shoulder length, medium brown coloured hair that was possibly tied up in a ponytail. She has blue eyes and freckles.

She was wearing a black school jumper with a school logo on it, a white cotton T-shirt, black trousers and a black waist length coat with fur round the hood. She was also wearing pink and grey 'Bratz' furry boots.

Am just watching the police conference on tv and have to say how nice it is that the police are answering questions. Giving details etc. etc. why couldn't Madeleine have had this kind of investigation.

Police have released CCTV footage showing nine-year-old Shannon Matthews shortly before she disappeared. The CCTV images, released by West Yorkshire Police, show the young girl entering and leaving the Dewsbury Sports Centre Swimming Pool.
