A young german girl, was doing practical training in a school there, and after it had been announced on Tv here, that Luna was missing, the girl recognised her as being the little girl she had met before . She passed on photographs to Luna´s father, who says it´s her!!! He has flown to Guatemala and is now trying to find her and get her back!!!!

Let´s hold our thumbs that he manages it soon....

Child disappearance in Italy: A German father fights for his daughter

Rome – Peter Tinnemann does not say a bad word about his former Italian wife Mrs. Rosamaria Bruni. He doesn’t grumble, he doesn..t threaten, and he even imagines sitting together with her to solve the problems together. On one issues however the German physician living in London insists: He wants to have his five years old daughter back. "I would like to know, where Luna sleeps, what she eats and how she spends her days", Tinnemann says. "For nine months I don..t know nothing anymore about her." The physician assumes that his ex-wife keeps the girl hidden at her family in Frosinone, south of Rome. The Italian authorities however have not sufficiently supported him so far with the search.


There are many such cases piling up in Europe, which is growing together and brings forth ever more mixed national marriages. If these relations fail, the controversy over the children can be particularly complicated. Such conflicts are supposed to be solved according to international agreements legally relatively well today. In practice, however, it frequently occurs that a partner ignores court decisions, by disappearing with the child in their homeland, as is Peter Tinnemann’s experience now.

The physician married the pediatric psychiatrist Rosamaria Bruni in September 2001. Not long thereafter Luna was born. The family lives initially in Berlin and then moves to London, where both parents found employment. Regretfully, in April 2004 the couple split up after which the wife took Luna to Italy without the fathers consent. A Rome court orders Lunas return to London. There a British court awarded the custody to the father - still a fairly unusual decision in Great Britain. An appeal of the wife is rejected. She meanwhile returned to live again in Italy.


During April 2006 Luna spends the Easter holiday with her mother in Frosinone. On the 20th of that month at 18 o'clock Peter Tinnemann waits Luna at the airport, as agreed upon earlier. But he waits in vain.


Since that time he has heard nothing more of his daughter. The relatives of his ex-wife state, that they do not know were mother and child are, they claim they are in Hungary. Thus, the only hope remaining for the father lies in the Italian justice. But he gets the impression that they investigate without much zeal. The responsible state attorney denies this in a letter from 11th January. She states, that all "appropriate investigations" were arranged, in order to find the child.

Tinnemann..s lawyer Roberta Ceschini, a family law specialist, doubts the state attorney’s claim. She says, cases of child withdrawal are often treated by the Italian justice like "second class cases". Meanwhile, the authorities in Frosinone only consented themselves in all the months to two house attendances at the family of the mother. A telephone monitoring was omitted.


Undefied, Peter Tinnemann says, he will never give up searching for Luna. "I know, I will find her - sooner or later. But I am shocked that a small girl can disappear in the middle of Europe simply like that."

I really really hope he finds her. I've seen so many cases where the parent is looking for the child in another country and know where they are, but aren't getting the assistance from that country. It's not fair for the parent wanting to see his/her child. It must be really hard in Europe because there are so many countries.

I'm glad he has found her. I hope the media hasn't scared the mother into hiding by letting this information out.

I wanted to add a spot of news here, which I have searched all over the net, and can´t find any information, but for what I heard on our news this evening:

Luna´s father has flown to Guatamala, last week, and has found his daughter!!!! He is legally not allowed to just take her home, but has to wait until tomorrow ( Monday) to go to the courts with his ex-wife, to make an agreement!!!

He says, she is fine and has come to no harm, and hopes that his ex-wife will not be on the run this weekend, to get away from having to go to court.

He has spent a half hour with his daughter, and after 22 months, Luna does still remember her father, although it took a few minutes, he says...

Well, that´s good news so far, Luna is unharmed, and I hope for a safe return soon!!!!

Maybe it will lead to other missing children being found too.

I will wait for the official word before I move this case into our 'International Child Recoveries Stories' section.

In den vergangenen zwei Jahren hat das blonde Mädchen Spanisch als seine neue Muttersprache gelernt. Aber ihr Vater spricht Deutsch – und nur langsam fallen ihr mit Hilfe einer Dolmetscherin die Wörter wieder ein.

Vor zwei Jahren setzte sich seine italienische Ex-Frau Rosamaria ab. Mit gefälschten Papieren war sie mit der damals 4-jährigen Tochter abgetaucht – scheinbar ohne jede Spur zu hinterlassen. Doch erst vor einer Woche gab es einen echten Hinweis. Carina Leb erkennt in einem Bericht bei RTL Luna wieder. Die 23-Jährige hatte in Guatemala in einem Kindergarten gearbeitet und dort auch Luna getroffen.



Noch darf Luna nicht zurück zu ihrem Vater
Peter Tinnemann reist sofort nach Mittelamerika. Und vor drei Tagen sieht er seine Tochter zum ersten Mal. Doch da noch heimlich aus dem Auto heraus. Aus Angst, seine Ex-Frau könnte mit Luna wieder verschwinden, schaltet Tinnemann die örtlichen Behörden ein. Erst danach trifft er Luna.

Vor ihrem Kindergarten verharrt er, bis sein kleines Mädchen heraus kommt. „Luna, ich bin es, dein Papa“, mit diesen Worten begrüßt er die verdutzt dreinschauende Sechsährige und die braucht nicht lange, um ihn wieder zu erkennen. Schluchzend fällt sie ihrem Vater in die Arme.

Ein Happy-End für Luna und Peter Tinnemann? Leider nein, denn der Alptraum ist noch nicht zu Ende. Obwohl der Vater das alleinige Sorgerecht hat, ist die Sache noch immer nicht ausgestanden. Die Richter sagen: Bis zu einer Entscheidung soll Luna bei ihrer Mutter bleiben.

Der nächste Gerichtstermin steht schon bald an und dann endlich, so hofft Peter Tinnemann, kann er seine Tochter Luna wieder zu sich holen. Zurück in ihre Heimat nach Berlin.

Well it´s a happy feeling to know Luna is unharmed; I saw the video that was taken just 3 days ago!!!!
Unfortunately, the mother did NOT appear in court today; the father is despairing, as he fears she may have disappeared again with Luna. The judge has said that, until it is decided whether Luna can come home with her father, she is to stay in her mother´s custody.
Here in Germany, the father was given FULL custody of Luna 2 years ago; Luna was allowed to go with her mother on holiday to her home country in Italy, from where she never returned in 2006. However, it remains to be seen, whether the transfer back to her father will be permitted, from Guatamala.....
In the meantime, the father is not allowed to have any contact with his daughter. :cry:

I am very pleased to learn that Luna is safe and well.
Although I appreciate she is not with her father, who won custody for her, I have taken the step to move the case into the International Child Recovery Stories section of our forum.

My reasoning is that it is no longer an abduction case, it is now a custody battle. One which I hope will be resolved in a mutual way between both parents.

I really hope the courts do the right thing. I cannot believe the father is not allowed to have any contact with her. Regardless of the custody issue, he is still the father. This is really sad for him. :cry:

I´m afraid, I have to bring some bad news on this case tonight, but it was told on our news , that Luna´s mother has disappeared with Luna
She hasn´t appeared in court; the father wasn´t allowed to see Luna either, and now she´s gone again.....
They´re on the move, and are being searched for; it is presumed that they have fled to the mountains where it is easy to get over the border.

Will keep you informed of the developments, when I next hear something.

Luna is the real victim in all this as she must be so confused and she deserves both her parents. They are the adults and should work this out without involving her IMO :cry:

There is of course a difference if one of the parents has harmed the child.

I agree with you all,
We don´t know anything about either of the parents...surely there must be a reason why the mother is doing her utmost to keep Luna away from her father, unless she´s just being greedy and not thinking of her child.
The father looks friendly enough, but that doesn´t mean anything....who knows.

Anything I find out, I will post here..
