Baby Lisa Irwin Missing: Police Seen Digging in Back Yard of Girl's Kansas City Home

Police investigators have concentrated on combing through the home and back yard of Lisa Irwin Wednesday, the 10-month-old girl who has been missing from her Kansas City, Mo., home for weeks.

In what is being described as one of the most aggressive searches yet, of the home where the 10-month-old little girl went missing over two weeks ago, officers armed with shovels and rakes were seen digging in the back yard and later hauling off bags that appeared to be full of potential evidence, according to the Associated Press.

From shortly after sunrise through late afternoon, investigators joined in a frantic search after a judge issued a warrant that prevented the parents from returning to the house while the search was under way.

Police have confirmed that a body has not been found in case of missing baby 11-month-old Lisa Irwin.

Kansas City police posted that information on their official Twitter account at 9:48 a.m. Thursday.

"Rumors are false. Police have NOT found a body in #LisaIrwin case. We are still actively searching for the baby," said police in a Tweet.

FBI, police search for a dead baby Lisa Irwin‎

The whole nation hopes baby Lisa Irwin is alive and well somewhere.

But it’s more realistic at this point to recognize that the FBI and police are searching for a dead baby.

Sadly, that’s what they are looking for when they go into the woods near the Northland home where Lisa was last seen.

That’s what they are expecting to find when they drain water from a pond.

Of course, the police also are following hundreds of leads, including some from people who think they know where the baby could be found alive.

Search of missing baby's home ended, items recovered

Police and the FBI have completed a lengthy search of the home of missing 11-month-old Lisa Irwin but are not commenting on evidence taken from the scene.

Investigators spent all day Wednesday and late into the night examining the inside of the house, a large detached garage, the lawn and the house exterior, including the eaves along the roof line, according to television video.

Officers and agents could be seen removing large brown paper bags of items, rolls of carpeting and dark panels that appeared to be from X-ray equipment.

Police had a warrant to search the house without the parents present. Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin are staying with relatives nearby. They have been questioned about Lisa's disappearance but have denied knowing what happened to her.

Baby Lisa update: Grim discovery inside the Irwin family home!

‎Last night on HLN's Nancy Grace it was reported that investigators used high-tech X-ray equipment inside the home belonging to the parents of missing baby Lisa Irwin, who vanished from her crib in Kansas City, MO in early October. It was also reported that "items of evidentiary value" were discovered in the home.

Attorney, Eleanor Odom said that investigators were most likely looking for skin, blood, and body parts under floorboards in the home.

Now ABC News is reporting a grim discovery was made by investigators. Cadaver dogs hit on the scent of possible human decomposition next to Lisa's mother, Deborah Bradley's bed. The police also seized a portion of a carpet from the home.

Dog picked up scent of body in missing baby's home: police

An FBI cadaver dog picked up the scent of a deceased person in the bedroom of Deborah Bradley, mother of missing 11-month old Lisa Irwin, court documents filed on Friday show.

Evidence that a dead body may have been in the room was used by police to get a warrant to search the house where Irwin was last seen. Bradley said she put Lisa to bed the evening of October 3 and the baby was gone early the next morning.

The cadaver dog searched the house on Monday, with the consent of Irwin's parents.

"The cadaver dog indicated a positive 'hit' for the scent of a deceased human being in an area of the floor of Bradley's bedroom near the bed," a Kansas City police detective said in an affidavit seeking the search warrant.

Bradley has said police accused her of killing Lisa and that she failed a lie-detector test question about her daughter's whereabouts. But she and Lisa's father, Jeremy Irwin, said they had nothing to do with the baby's disappearance.

Baby Lisa Irwin: Mysterious Man Seen With Naked Baby on Night of Disappearance‎

Three witnesses have come forward claiming to have seen a man carrying a naked baby on the night that baby Lisa Irwin went missing from her crib at her parent’s home in Kansas City, Missouri.

A couple claim to have seen a man in a T-shirt walking with a child with no clothes on at around 12.15 a.m. on Oct. 4, four hours after Lisa’s mother Deborah Bradley claimed to have put her down to bed. At 4 a.m., another witness said he saw a man walking along an intersection carrying a naked baby three miles from the house, according to ABC News.

Another witness Mike Thompson also said he saw a man carrying a baby about three miles from the house, just four hours after the first sighting.

A lawyer for Baby Lisa's parents has hit back at reports of police cadaver dog smelling the scent of a dead body on a bedroom floor in the house.
Cyndy Short the cadaver dog development could be misleading detectives because the scent could be decades old.
Miss Short told Good Morning America: 'My understanding is that there are cold cases where dogs have hit on scents of decomposition that have been in the home for as long as 28 years.

Lisa Irwin billboards go up in Kansas City

As police continue to search for 11-month-old Lisa Irwin, one company is trying to help.

Lamar Advertising donated several billboards along Kansas City highways with the missing baby's picture hopeing someone will drive by and will recognize her.

The company said billboards are a proven way to generate tips.

Video footage has emerged which shows a man dressed in white leaving a wooded area near to where Baby Lisa vanished on the night she was reported missing.
The discovery appears to add weight to witness reports of a suspicious man holding a baby in the area in the early hours of October 4.
Police are also now investigating a dumpster fire which happened in the same place at a similar time, Good Morning America reported. The fire could explain why burnt clothes were shown to Baby Lisa's parents during questioning and also why authorities searched a landfill site as part of the investigation.

The search for Baby Lisa may have a new target.

In a new video obtained by ABC News, a man can be seen emerging from a wooded area near the missing infant's home the night of her disappearance.

The video shows the mystery man walking out of the woods around 2:30 a.m. on October 4, just an hour and a half before Jeremy Irwin says he discovered his daughter was missing from her crib.

Irwin and Deborah Bradley maintain they discovered their baby had been taken when Jeremy returned home from his night shift to find she was gone. Bradley has said she fell asleep at home after putting Lisa to bed and having a few drinks.

Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin missing baby Lisa has been allegedly spotted with a man on a surveillance camera. Police have gotten two witnesses reports of a man carrying a baby and surveillance footage showing a man carrying what looks to be baby Lisa down the road the night she went missing.

The attorney for Irwin and Bradley said that the footage is "unbelievably substantial" and that it proves that an abduction took place in their home. Their attorney said, "When you have two independent witnesses making that same observation a mile apart...that's something that cannot be discounted."

Kansas City police not saying anything about new video in case of missing baby

Kansas City police aren't commenting about new video footage that shows a man leaving a wooded area near the home of a baby missing since early October.

ABC News reported Sunday it obtained surveillance video from a gas station near the home of Lisa Irwin, whose parents reported the then-10-month-old girl missing around 4 a.m. Oct. 4.

The man appears in the video as a fuzzy white figure emerging from the woods around 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 4. It's unclear from the video whether he was carrying anything.

Kansas City police spokesman Steve Young has declined to comment on the video.

3 months later: New leads in search for missing baby Lisa Irwin‎

Three months ago, Debbie Bradley said she put her ill daughter in her crib so that she could sleep.

Since then, 10-month-old Lisa Irwin hasn't been seen.

But a Kansas City attorney for Bradley and Jeremy Irwin, the baby's father, said Tuesday that there is new information in the search for the baby whose first birthday was in November.

The family's local attorney, John Picerno, said investigators have several new leads and that one is very promising.

The attorney said both the FBI and Kansas City police have this information. He declined to elaborate or provide additional details.

Capt. Steve Young, spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department, declined comment on Picerno's comments.

"The number of tips have dwindled in both quantity and quality," Young said. "Just like we have been from the beginning, we are open to following up on anything that is remotely reasonable."

Detectives in the Crimes Against Children unit remain the lead investigators on the case. However, the unit's commander has changed as part of Police Chief Darryl Forte's shuffling of commanders.

FBI spokeswoman Bridget Patton also declined Wednesday morning to comment on Picerno's comments.

Irwin's sister, Ashley Irwin, shared this article on her Facebook page. She said there have been no new developments yet in regards to the promising lead.

"It's been in the works for weeks, so we don't know how soon we will have information we can release," she wrote. "Thank you everyone for the prayers."

Missing Baby Lisa Irwin: Police Revisit Area in Search of Clues

The search for missing baby Lisa Irwin continued Sunday as police teams searched near Interstate 435 and Parvin Road near Kansas City. Baby Lisa's parents, Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley, continue to maintain their silence in their missing daughter's case.

While police refused to reveal what information led them to search this area, KCTV-5 reported police have not conducted a major search of this particular region since mid-November. It is unclear why police decided to revisit the area in search for baby Lisa.

Fox 4 reports that independent volunteers continue to search for baby Lisa as well. Over a dozen volunteers searched an area near Interstate 35 and Chouteau on Sunday. The group targeted this area because of its proximity to Irwin and Bradley's home, reported Fox 4.

"We are searching for clues for baby Lisa so we can bring her home safely," one volunteer, Edith, told Fox 4.

"At that point when they were searching, there was a lot more vegetation," another volunteer, Shelly, commented. The volunteers remarked that the landscape in the area has changed in the past few weeks due to the weather and may leave clues more visible.

"We just can't let it go," she continued. "I mean, you know, a baby doesn't just vanish you know."

"They could throw stuff over, looking on hills, throw cell phones out," Edith continued. "If they are changing the baby they could throw her clothes out."

Where Is Lisa Irwin? Vigil Held but No Sign of Missing Child
‎
A vigil was held in honor of missing baby Lisa Irwin yesterday, but no definitive updates have risen in this strange and tragic case. It was a prayer vigil which took place at Penguin Park in KC, but it's apparent that prayers alone aren't going to bring the missing Kansas City infant back home.

That's because the people involved in this case appear to know more than they are admitting. Much like the disappearance of Ayla Reynolds out of Maine, the parents of Lisa Irwin have been clouded with suspicion since the very first week of the child's disappearance. Were either of they present at this prayer vigil, or have they been merrily moving on with their lives?

Even now, Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin are refusing to meet separately for police interviews. It does certainly take devoted teamwork to derail and halt a missing child's investigation.
