Father of 3 missing Michigan children due in court‎

A 39-year-old Michigan father who faces kidnapping charges in connection with his three missing sons is due in court.

John Skelton of Morenci is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Lenawee County, one day after waiving his right to an extradition hearing in Ohio and being driven back to Michigan. He remains held on a $30 million bond.

The unemployed truck driver is charged with parental kidnapping in the disappearance of 9-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Tanner Skelton.

Skelton has initial court appearance via video in Lenawee County‎

A father charged in the disappearance of his three sons appeared via video in Lenawee County District Court Wednesday for an initial hearing.

Judge James Sheridan continued the bond at $30 million for John Skelton, 39, of Morenci, who faces three counts of parental kidnapping-interference with parental custody for not returning the children to their mother on Nov. 26.

Each felony count carries a maximum sentence of one year plus one day in prison. If convicted on all three charges, the most time Mr. Skelton would serve behind bars would be three years and three days if ordered to serve the sentences consecutively.

Tanya Skelton on three missing sons: 'I feel in my heart they're still alive'

Tanya Skelton, the mother of three Morenci brothers missing since Thanksgiving, is not giving up hope her children are alive.

Speaking in a one-on-one interview with Fox 2, which you can watch in the embedded player, Skelton recounted the moment she began to worry the boys' father would not return them from a court-ordered visit.

"I was panicked, scared, hopeful that when the agreed upon time of 3 p.m. came around that someone would pull up with my children," she said, wearing a sweatshirts that reads "prayers for a safe return home."

"As time went on, I began to wonder, who has my children? Are they safe? Are they scared? And I continued to wonder that. Because until they prove to me they are no longer on this earth, I believe and I feel in my heart they're still alive."

Nine-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Tanner Skelton were last seen at their father's home. Their parents were going through a divorce when they disappeared.

John Skelton tells judge he turned boys over to 'an organization'‎

John Skelton told a judge this morning that he turned his three sons over to someone from an “organization” at his Morenci home on Thanksgiving Day.

The whereabouts of Skelton’s missing sons, Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner, 5, has been the subject of searches and intense investigation efforts since the boys were reported missing by their mother on Nov. 26.

“A person in a van,” was Skelton’s answer when Lenawee County Circuit Judge Margaret M.S. Noe asked who he turned the children over to at his home.

“I know the organization, but I didn’t know the person,” Skelton said.

“What organization?” Noe asked.

“I would rather not say at this time,” Skelton answered.

Noe told Skelton he could be held in custody indefinitely if found guilty of contempt for failing to comply with her Nov. 29 order giving Tanya Skelton full custody of the children.

The father of three missing Michigan brothers said Thursday that he gave his sons to someone from an "organization" who visited his home on Thanksgiving.

John Skelton refused to identify the group.

It was the first time that Skelton had publicly discussed his sons since his arrest Nov. 30 on parental kidnapping charges. The hearing in Lenawee County court was related to custody of the children, not his criminal case.
