Search continues for Houston dad, grandad in Calif. abduction‎

Police in Anaheim, Calif., were still searching Sunday for two young brothers abducted by their father and grandfather, who are from Houston.

Authorities on Friday discovered a rental van believed used in Thursday evening's abduction of 4-year-old Jacob Quinones and 2-year-old Justin Quinones, and an Amber Alert remains active, said Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez.

Monrovia man arrested in connection with kidnapping of two Anaheim boys
Anaheim officers said they arrested David Nicholas at his home in Monrovia, and booked him on suspicion of conspiracy for the Thursday kidnapping case.

Police today arrested a 26-year-old Monrovia man they believed assisted in the abduction of two Anaheim boys by the children’s father and grandfather last week.

Anaheim officers said they arrested David Nicholas at his home in Monrovia, and booked him on suspicion of conspiracy for the Thursday kidnapping case. His bail was set at $1 million, said Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez.

“At this stage of our investigation, we will not be releasing any additional information about Mr. Nicholas’ role in this case,” Martinez said...

.... Police recovered a Dodge Caravan used in the crime Friday after it was returned to a rental agency.

Initially police believed the suspects – Abraham Fernandez, 23, and Louis Mendoza Fernandez, 52, both of Houston — might be headed for Texas, but then said they believed they were still in California.

Monrovia couple charged with abetting child abductions‎

The father and grandfather of two young boys kidnapped from Anaheim were charged Tuesday with kidnapping and child abduction, while a Monrovia couple were charged with helping the men.
Abraham and Louis Mendoza Fernandez, both of Houston, are accused of taking Abraham Fernandez's children -- 4-year-old Jacob and 2-year-old Justin Quinones -- from their mother in Anaheim Thursday night. The men remain at large, along with the children.

The boys' mother moved from Texas to Anaheim with the boys about a year ago, according to police and prosecutors.

.... Abraham Fernandez is about 5 feet 10 inches and 160 pounds, with long brown hair often pulled back in a ponytail. He had a mustache and maybe a goatee, and was wearing a black shirt and jeans, police said.

Louis Mendoza Fernandez is stocky with a gut, about 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds, with brown eyes and longer straight or scraggly brown hair. He was wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, light-colored shorts and white tennis shoes.

Anaheim police urged anyone with more information to call them at (714) 765-1900.

Couple who allegedly helped kidnap Anaheim boys scheduled to be arraigned today

Nicholas allegedly rented a silver Dodge Caravan used in the kidnapping, then returned it to a rental agency near Ontario International Airport. He was arrested Sunday.

His wife, 29-year-old Linda Fernandez, is the cousin of Abraham Fernandez and is charged with four counts of being an accessory after the fact. She was arrested Monday.

Abraham and Louis Fernandez are still missing, along with the children. They are both charged with two counts each of kidnapping and child abduction.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (CBS/AP) Police have charged four people in the kidnapping last week of two brothers, ages 2 and 4, who were abducted from outside their mother's southern California home.

The Orange County district attorney said Tuesday that the boys' father, Abraham Fernandez, 23, and grandfather, 52-year-old Louis Fernandez, have each been charged with two felony kidnapping counts and two counts of felony child abduction. The men and boys have not been found.

Dad accused in OC kidnap turns himself in‎

Eyewitness news has learned that a father accused of abducting his two young children in Anaheim has turned himself in to authorities in Texas.

Authorities said Abraham Fernandez turned himself in to sheriff's deputies Monday afternoon in Harris County.

Abraham Fernandez and his father Louis Fernandez are accused of kidnapping 4-year-old Jacob Quinones and his 2-year-old brother Justin.

The two boys and their grandfather Louis remain missing. The boys were abducted in front of their Anaheim home on the 3200 block of W. Orange Avenue on Thursday, Oct. 7. A day later, police recovered a Dodge Caravan used in the crime after it was returned to a rental agency.

Abraham Fernandez is being held on $1 million bail and is awaiting an extradition hearing scheduled for Wednesday, which he's trying to fight. He is charged with two felony counts of kidnapping and two felony counts of child abduction and faces a maximum sentence of nine years and eight months in state prison if convicted.

Abducted Anaheim boys located in Texas‎

ANAHEIM – Two boys abducted from their mother's Anaheim home have been turned in to Texas authorities by their grandmother, who was arrested on suspicion of playing a role in their kidnapping, police said.
Two-year-old Justin and 4-year-old Jacob Quiñones, who authorities say were kidnapped by their father and grandfather, are in the custody of a Harris County social services agency after their grandmother took them to a court facility Tuesday afternoon, Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez said.
"They appear to be in good health," Martinez said.
The grandmother, Elizabeth Fernandez, was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and is in custody of the Harris County Sheriff's Department on $1 million bail, Martinez said.
The boys' father, Abraham Fernandez, turned himself in to Texas authorities last week. The boys' grandfather, Louis Fernandez, is being sought by authorities.
