Lost baby's mom loses court fights

Elizabeth Johnson, the mother of Baby Gabriel, who has been missing since December, lost two legal skirmishes in Maricopa County Superior Court on Wednesday, including one over who will represent her.

Johnson had asked for a new defense attorney, based on arguments that her current court-appointed lawyers are not attentive enough to her needs. Judge Timothy Ryan denied her request, as well as a second from her attorney to keep news and television cameras out of the courtroom during Johnson's appearances.

Johnson, 23, refused to attend court last week, so Ryan ordered her to be brought to court Wednesday "by any means." Security officers said she did not protest transport to Wednesday's hearing.

Gabriel Johnson's mother had male companion in Texas, report says

According to the report, several witnesses stated that Elizabeth Johnson was seen with a man from the first night she was in San Antonio, Texas. Searchers and authorities in two states have been looking for Gabriel Johnson, who was last seen on December 26, 2009.

After Elizabeth Johnson’s arrest, she told authorities that she gave Gabriel to a couple she met. Previously, she sent a text message to Gabriel’s father, Logan McQueary, stating that she had killed the little boy and threw him in a dumpster. On March 12, 2010 it was revealed that a landfill search yielded no clues.

PHOENIX -- The father of missing baby Gabriel Johnson was a guest on a local radio station's morning show Friday to discuss his efforts to raise funds to aid in the search for his son.

Logan McQueary was interviewed on KWSS' Morning Infidelity show while at an event to raise money to help find his son, who was last seen Dec. 26, 2009, with the boy's mother, Elizabeth Johnson, in San Antonio, Texas.

Baby Gabriel's mother due back in court today

PHOENIX -- A Maricopa County Superior Court judge awarded custody of a missing Tempe baby to the child's father on Friday.

Appearing in court for an evidentiary hearing Friday morning, Elizabeth Johnson, 23, cried and refused to answer any questions about where her son is or if he is alive. Gabriel has been missing for three months.

After hearing from Johnson and Gabriel's father, Logan McQueary, the judge took custody away from Johnson and granted sole legal custody to McQueary.

A Maricopa County Superior Court Judge awarded custody of still-missing baby Gabriel Johnson to the boy's father in a hearing Friday morning.

Logan McQueary will take custody of the baby if he is ever found.

The child's mother, Elizabeth Johnson, refused to answer any questions from Judge Michael McVey or McQueary's attorney about where Gabriel is. She began to cry on the stand when McVey asked who she gave the boy to and whether she has any information about Gabriel's safety.

Gabriel will turn 1 year old on May 3, but Johnson has refused to say if the child is alive or where he is.

Dr.: Mom Not Interested In Baby Gabriel

PHOENIX -- After viewing a video of Friday’s custody hearing about missing baby Gabriel Johnson, well-known Valley forensic psychologist Dr. Erin Nelson said Elizabeth Johnson didn’t appear interested in her child.

During the hearing, Johnson broke down in tears on the stand when Maricopa Superior Court Judge Michael McVey questioned her about Gabriel’s whereabouts.

Nelson said Johnson’s behavior indicated that her primary concern is not her son, but her own fate.

"The one thing I take away from today is that clearly Elizabeth Johnson is somebody who has her own interests as her number one priority,” said Nelson.

Private Eye Finds Park Where Gabriel Was Given Up‎

PHOENIX - New information is coming out in the search for a baby missing since December: the family's private investigator is releasing his findings and says the child's mother did not hurt Gabriel.

Ken Gamble is the private investigator hired by Gabriel Johnson's father, Logan McQueary. Gamble believes Gabriel's mother, Elizabeth Johnson, did not hurt her baby, but rather brought him to a San Antonio, Texas park as she was told to do.

"We have been able to confirm through the investigation so far that this is the park where Elizabeth handed the baby to a couple," said Gamble.

PI believes Baby Gabriel is alive‎

A private investigator says he believes missing baby Gabriel Johnson is still alive, in San Antonio, Texas, after reading a journal kept by the boy's mother.

"I was able to see the hand-written notes," said Ken Gamble, an investigator hired by the missing boy's father, Logan McQueary.

He said Elizabeth Johnson's journal "is very compelling because it tells the story of what she did when she was down here (in San Antonio). It gives details about her contacting women's shelters, crisis centers."
