Camille is 7 and her parents shared joint custody prior to this incident. Her mother, an orthopedic surgeon, began to show signs of mental illness (paranoia, etc.) gradually in recent years. She also indicated strong interest in leaving the US to establish a home in Mexico, Central or South America in order to spend more time with her daughter, and avoid the influence of American culture which she viewed as dangerous.

On July 9 Camille and her mother, Lynanne Foster, left Dallas supposedly for a vacation together. Neither Lynanne's family or ours has heard from them since.

On July 23 Lynanne's parents received a note from her confirming that she has removed Camille from custodial access by the father.

On Aug. 1 the court issued a Writ of Attachment for law enforcement to bring Camille immediately to her father. On Aug. 8 the courts began proceedings to transfer the decree to Kendall County, and modify the order for full custody by the father. The US Atty Gen and FBI are now working the case. It is in Camille's best interest to find her and return her to her father as soon as possible. Both families also desire a safe return of Lynanne Foster so that she can be provided the appropriate treatment.

Father reunited with his abducted daughter

SAN ANTONIO -- A Christmas miracle for a father who has been searching for his daughter for nearly two years. Nine-year-old Camille Kaufman, taken by her mother in 2008 in Boerne, has been found. She is finally back home with her father in their new home in Houston.

The search for her was a very long, grueling and emotional one. It took her father, Galen Kaufman, and investigators all the way down to the jungles of Costa Rica. After months of investigating, Galen and detectives found Camille and her mother, Lynanne Foster, hiding out with her boyfriend, Lance Brauer, and his family.

Camille Kaufman reunited with family after 18 months separation

Vanished from Boerne in July of 2008, Camille was found last week in Costa Rica in the company of her mother, Dr. Lynanne Foster, and anesthesiologists Lance and Kirk Brauer. For now, details regarding Camille Kaufman’s life in Central America and conditions of her hand-over to her father, Galen Kaufman, are unavailable.
