Family of missing Swiss twins make Facebook appeal‎

The mother of the Swiss twins who have been missing for 10 days made an emotional appeal on Facebook on Wednesday for witnesses to help find her six year-old daughters.

"When the world says 'give up,' hope whispers, 'try it one more time'," the family said in a message posted on the Facebook page "Missing Alessia and Livia".

"Please keep helping us in finding traces from Livia and Alessia! We shall not give up searching for them!" they added.

"We have to keep on going, and the chances are that we will stumble on something, perhaps when we are least expecting it. Never heard of anyone . . . ever stumbling on something sitting down."

Missing twin girls seen aboard ship: Prosecutor‎

A Canadian-born father may have thrown his twin six-year-old girls overboard on a ship travelling from France to Italy before he was found dead himself, a French prosecutor says.

Jacques Dallest told reporters in Marseille, France, witnesses saw Matthias Schepp and his daughters, Alessia and Livia, on board the ship travelling from Marseille to Corsica, Italy, on Jan. 31, the newspaper La Provence reported.

On Wednesday, Police said a witness confirmed Schepp was seen getting off the boat Feb. 1, but there was no evidence the two girls were with him or that they disembarked.

On Feb. 3, Schepp was seen in a restaurant in Naples, Italy, at around noon.

Witnesses didn't see Alessia or Livia in the restaurant.

Mother of missing twins makes a TV appeal‎

The mother of missing six-year old twins Alessia and Livia Schepp has made an emotional appeal on Italian television for news of their whereabouts.

The broadcast was made after it was revealed that several witnesses had seen the girls nine days ago with their father on board a ferry bound for Corsica.

Irina Lucidi pleaded for information:

“Whoever saw them or knows anything about Alessia and Livia, please go to the police in order to give any information you might have. Obviously the fact that they were seen, the three of them, in Corsica on a ferry boat, gives me hope, that they are still alive somewhere, with someone.”

Italian police seek taped message on missing twins‎

Italian police looking for six-year-old twin girls missing for nearly two weeks believe a tape-recorded message from their father could point to their whereabouts, news reports said Thursday.

A tape recorder belonging to Matthias Schepp, 43, who killed himself by throwing himself under a train in southern Italy, is missing and "could contain a message with information about what happened" to the girls, investigators told the Italian news agency Ansa.

Schepp and daughters Alessia and Livia disappeared from Switzerland on January 30 after he failed to return the girls to his estranged wife Irina Lucidi.

The three were last seen on a ferry from Marseille to Corsica on Monday last week and Schepp's body was discovered in southern Italy on Thursday but no trace of the girls has been found.

Schepp mailed a large sum of money to his wife before killing himself and police believe the recorder could also have been mailed.

He "may have decided to mail the recorder, an old model which he always had with him but which was not found at his home in Switzerland or near his body," Ansa quoted an investigator as saying.

Missing twins' father surfed sites on poison, suicide‎

The father of missing Swiss twins, who killed himself last Thursday in Italy a few days after taking his girls on a ferry from the French mainland to Corsica, surfed websites about firearms, poison, suicide and ferry schedules before abducting the twins on Jan. 30, police disclosed Thursday.

"These elements show that the father had carefully planned his voyage," Swiss police spokesman Jean-Christophe Sauterel said in a statement.

All this is very sad and the latest news in France are not very good :

"Police found a letter-testament to his home before his suicide. Matthias Schepp in this letter "clearly announced his intention to kill his children, then to end his days at the end of this Act.

They now rest in peace, they have not suffered, he wrote."

Foggia - Resumed the search for the twins who disappeared in the Cerignola countryside, where their father killed himself. This is the place where Matthias Schepp, the father and kidnapper of the Swiss twins who have been missing since the 31st of January, committed suicide on the 3rd of February.
This morning too the search efforts were concentrated in the countryside surrounding the railway station: the Police and the Fire Brigade are checking the open wells and cisterns. No element has been found up to now that might lead to assume that Alessia and Livia ever made it to the province of Foggia. In the meantime, Matthias Schepp's body is still in the morgue in Cerignola and has not been handed over to the family yet: the reason also being that noone has yet asked for the restitution of the body. . .

Missing Swiss twins 'resting in peace', father's note says‎

THE father of the missing Swiss twins left a note saying his daughters were "resting in peace" and "did not suffer", Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera reported.

Matthias Schepp sent the note to wife Irina Lucidi before he was hit by a train in Italy last week.

Police across Europe have been searching desperately for the couple's six-year-old daughters Alessia and Livia since they failed to return to the family home in Lausanne, Switzerland, on January 30.

The contents of the note were not made public immediately by police hunting the girls for fear of discouraging potential witnesses to come forward.

Father of missing twins wrote in letter that he killed them‎

The father of the missing Swiss twins wrote a letter to his estranged wife saying he had killed them and intended to kill himself, Swiss police said Friday.

Matthias Kaspar Schepp wrote in a Feb. 3 letter from Italy that 6-year-olds Alessia and Livia were dead and he would now kill himself, and his body was found later that day, police from the Swiss canton (state) of Vaud said.

Police say Schepp threw himself under a train in the southern Italian city of Cerignola. His letter did not say when or where he killed his children.

“The father declared he had killed his two daughters and he was in Cerignola where he was going to kill himself,” police spokesman Jean-Christophe Sauterel said.

Investigators in Switzerland, France and Italy on Friday continued their search for the girls, focusing on the French island of Corsica, where Schepp took the girls by overnight ferry from Marseille, France, arriving Feb. 1.

French police have now established that Schepp left Corsica — alone — by taking a ferry from Bastia back to Toulon on the French mainland later Feb. 1, Swiss police said.

Hope fades for missing Swiss twins‎

Hope of finding missing Swiss twins alive has virtually disappeared after police confirmed that their father wrote a letter detailing plans to kill the six-year-old girls.

A big police search is underway in Corsica, Switzerland, mainland France and Italy.

Matthias Schepp wrote from Italy that Alessia and Livia were dead, and he was about to commit suicide.

Swiss police spokesman Jean-Christophe Sauterel said: “I can indeed confirm that he announced he wanted to kill himself, and I can also confirm that in his letter, he says the girls did not suffer and that they are resting in peace.”

This is just awful and as we know here highlights how important finding family abduction children is ! Too often response by the public is slow as family and don't believe will be harmed.

What a terrible time for the extended families.

Pam, it's Heart breaking!!!

When I look at their photos I can see my own six year old daughter, to think that a father could do that to his children is unimaginable!!

These parents need to seperate their feelings towards their ex-partners from the relationship they have or should have with their children!!
It's all too common that once the parents fall out that the children suffer in the crossfire!!! It is not right!!!
