Please be warned this article does not make nice reading, I still weep and feel sick to even think about it. A very, very sad story.
I remember this case well because 9 year old Daniel lived close to where I was living at the time. He was fixing his bike chain on a sunday afternoon in October 1994 when 2 paedophiles, in their car asked him for directions, they showed Daniel a map. While he looked at the map one of the men pushed him into the back of the car and they drove off.

(I won't say what happend next, I'll leave that up to the reader to decide, its very sick)

Daniel was never seen alive again. These two men had served time in prison for sexual offences, this is how they met, it had been their fantasy to find a young boy and sadly Daniel became their victim. These vile creatures were sentenced to life, never to be released, in 1996. Another case of paedophiles re-offending to carry out the worst crime.

Fears for boy grow as hunt by 100 police draws blank

FEARS were growing last night for the safety of a nine- year-old boy missing from his home since Sunday.
Daniel Handley disappeared after leaving a friend's house where he had spent the afternoon playing. He had been reluctant to go home.
A search by more than 100 police officers yesterday failed to turn up any clues to the whereabouts of Daniel, of Lobelia Close, Beckton, east London. Police dogs and helicopters were involved in the operation, carried out on overgrown wasteland around the old Beckton gasworks near the boy's home.

Man charged with boy's murder

A 30-year-old man will appear in court in east London today charged with the murder of nine-year-old Daniel Handley. Brett Tyler, of no fixed address, is the second man to be charged with killing Daniel, whose body was found near Bristol in March, six months after he disappeared from his home in Beckton, east London.

Boy, 9, abducted and killed to satisfy 'perverted sex fantasy'

Two men abducted, sexually assaulted and killed nine-year-old Daniel Handley to satisfy a "perverted" sexual fantasy, a court was told yesterday.
In a "hit-and-run" attack, the men snatched Daniel from a London street, videoed themselves having sex with him and then strangled him before burying his body in a wood, the Old Bailey heard.
John Bevan, for the prosecution, told the jury: "If this sounds like a description of acts callously inhumane and depraved almost beyond belief, that is exactly what this case is about. You will hear evidence about as depressing an example of the dark side of human nature, man's inhumanity to man and downright wickedness as you could imagine."

Doctor named boy's sex killer to police

A leading psychiatrist put aside patient confidentiality to tell police he suspected a man of the murder of nine-year-old Daniel Handley, the Old Bailey heard yesterday.
The expert on child sexual abuse - identified only as Dr B - said he had "no hesitation" in informing detectives about the sexual fantasies of Timothy Morss after being told by his wife of a BBC TV Crimewatch programme on Daniel's murder.
Asked by John Bevan, for the prosecution, if he had agonised with his conscience over the decision, the doctor replied: "On the matter of the murder of a child and child protection there was no hesitation on my part." The man he named, Morss, 33, and his co-defendant, Brett Tyler, were arrested days later. Morss has admitted the murder. His former lover, Tyler, 30, admits abducting and sexually assaulting Daniel, but denies murdering him on 2 October 1994.

Sex killing trial told of suicide attempt

One of the alleged killers of nine-year-old Daniel Handley tried to commit suicide after being accused of the schoolboy's murder, an Old Bailey court heard yesterday.
Brett Tyler, 30, said he had attempted to overdose, cut his wrists and made a noose to try and hang himself after police flew to the Philippines to see him. He was living 200 kilometres outside Manila on the edge of the jungle in a mixed household, which included children. He had fled there with Timothy Morss after Daniel's body was found buried in woodland near Bristol, it is alleged. Morss, 33, admits strangling the boy, but Tyler denies murder.

Caught before they could claim another child

The arrest and conviction of the paedophiles Brett Tyler, 30, and Timothy Morss, 33, who both had criminal records for sexual intercourse with children, probably saved other young boys from suffering the same fate as Daniel.
Police believe that the violent but emotionally cold Morss, in particular, was likely to strike again. His lover, Tyler, told detectives that Morss was dissatisfied with the brief time they had spent having sex with Daniel. "Tim said it was a waste and he wanted another one."
Detective Sergeant Stephen Kavanagh said after the case: "We got them before that nightmare scenario occurred."

Life for 'the vultures' who murdered Daniel

A judge yesterday recommended that two paedophiles who abducted, abused and then murdered nine-year-old Daniel Handley should spend the rest of their lives in prison.
Jailing both men, Mr Justice Curtis described Timothy Morss, 33, and Brett Tyler, 30, as "evil vultures" who had shown no remorse for their crime and who posed a grave danger to the public. "No society can tolerate men abducting a child of that society in a street in broad daylight or such inhuman conduct," the judge said. "Life must mean life."
Earlier an Old Bailey jury had taken under two hours to find Tyler guilty of murdering Daniel on 2 October 1994. He had admitted kidnapping the boy from the street and abusing him. His former lover, Morss, had admitted all three offences.

Sentence : On May 17, 1996 Timothy Morss and Brett Tyler were convicted of murdering Daniel Handley. The trial judge and the Old Bailey sentenced them to life imprisonment with a recommendation that they should never be released.
