Missing teenager: Second picture released

POLICE have issued another picture of a 'high risk' person who has not been seen since Christmas Eve.

Josh Beasley was last seen leaving the ice-rink in the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College, King William Walk, Greenwich, at around 5.15pm on December 24.

His parents expected him to return to their home in Effingham Road, Lee, either later that evening or early on Christmas Day but he never did.

The investigation into the missing Thomas Tallis School pupil has been taken over by the specialist crime directorate, from borough police, because he is classified as high risk'.

Mum's pain for missing actor son

The distraught parents of a teenage actor who vanished on Christmas Eve yesterday begged him to come home.

Joshua Beasley, 17, has not been seen since going out to celebrate with a group of pals.

Concern is now growing for his safety as his disappearance is completely out of character.

Tearful mum Ruth Harrison said: "Everyone is just desperate to have him back.

"This has completely ruined Christmas and made it unbearable. He is not the type who would not phone." Joshua, a member of the National Youth Theatre, was last seen leaving Greenwich ice rink, South London, near his home, at 5.15pm.

Leading the hunt, acting DCI Clive Heys said: "Everyone is worried but someone must have seen him leaving the ice rink."

Crys, it is sad.
The news report doesn't say how he came to be in the river,
so maybe he fell. I don't know. I'll watch out for any more news.

Body of missing London boy found in Thames

The body of a teenage student who went missing in Greenwich, southeast London, on Christmas Eve has been found floating in the Thames, police said today.

Scotland Yard said that the body of Joshua Beasley, 17, was seen on Monday by a passing bargeman near River Road, Barking, a mile down river from the Thames Barrier.

A post-mortem at Greenwich Mortuary yesterday confirmed that the cause of death was drowning.

"From the general description and clothing worn at the time the body was retrieved, together with dental examinations conducted during the post mortem, I am satisfied this is Joshua Beasley," said Acting Detective Chief Inspector Clive Heys of the Homicide and Specialist Crime Command.

School shocked after body found

THE headteacher of Joshua Beasley's school has spoken of his shock at the news of the student's body being found.

The 17-year-old, of Effingham Road, Lee, went missing after going out drinking with his friends in Greenwich on Christmas Eve.

A body found in the River Thames one mile down river from the Thames Barrier on Monday (January 21) - one month after he went missing - has been identified as Joshua.

Rob Thomas, headteacher of Thomas Tallis School, Kidbrooke Park Road, Blackheath, said: "We had all hoped that the search would result in Josh being returned safely but unfortunately, it now appears that our worst fears have come to pass.

"Josh was a very popular boy with a bright future ahead of him and everyone at the school is shocked at this news.

"This is a very difficult time for the school but we are a strong community and we will work together to provide support for everyone in coming to terms with losing Josh.

Mystery teen death
THE family of a teenager who drowned after going drinking on Christmas Eve may never know why their son died.

Thomas Tallis pupil Joshua Beasley, 17, from Lee, (pictured) died from immersion in the Thames after going drinking in Greenwich last year, Southwark Coroners' Court heard on Tuesday.
In the second part of an inquest into the aspiring dramatist's death, coroner Gail Elliman described the case as "tragic" but delivered an open verdict.
She told the family: "Sadly, despite a huge amount of information about events before his death, there are very few answers to where and how he died."
Mr Beasley had been out drinking with friends at the JD Wetherspoon Gate Clock pub, in Creek Road. The teen wandered off alone to the temporary ice rink in the Old Royal Naval College at 4.30pm. He was last seen at 6pm in Creek Road. His body was found in Barking on January 21 still carrying his iPod and money, but missing his phone.

Police have not been able to confirm how Mr Beasley got in the river. Pathologist Dr Peter Jerreat reported that no injuries were found on Mr Beasley's body and he had not taken illicit drugs.

However, it did hold 233mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood, nearly three times the drink drive limit of 80mg.

Unexplained death

An inquest into the death of a 17-year-old from Lee has recorded an open verdict. The body of Joshua Beasley was found in the Thames after going missing on Christmas Eve

He was a keen actor, belonged to the National Youth Theatre and was studying for his A-levels. But, a month after being reported missing, Joshua Beasley was found dead, floating in the Thames in January 2008.

He'd been out with friends on Christmas Eve when he was last spotted talking to a stranger at around 6pm close to the river in Deptford.

Earlier that afternoon he'd been drinking in the Wetherspoon's pub in Creek Road, before attempting to join friends who were ice skating at the Old Royal Naval College.

Four times the legal drink drive limit

The inquest heard from Joshua's friend, Rudi Barret, who said both he and Joshua drank vodka mixed with Lucozade before entering the pub.

Pathologist Dr Peter Jerreat gave the cause of death as 'drowning by immersion in water' with Joshua almost four times the legal drink-drive limit before he died.

Detective Inspector Cliff Stanley from the Metropolitan Police said Joshua's body still had money and an MP3 player on his person, making it unlikely he was mugged or attacked.
