Hi everybody

I am a regular on a large parenting forum. One of our regulars has just discovered that pictures of her little girl have been stolen (she has a website where she uploads snaps for her family and friends to see) and used on the Bebo profile of a supposed teenage Mum.

There are literally hundreds of photos of the little girl from birth right through to present day. Sadly the mother didn't think to watermark her pictures and even put a link to the website on her forum sig

What worries me, is that this 'person' has posted many pictures of 'herself' (obviously,never with 'her' baby) and has been making contact with other young mums through the Bebo site. I strongly believe that this 'person' has lifted some photos of another innocent girl and is using them to contact other mums and access photos of their children. What worries me even more is that this 'person' may attempt to arrange a meeting with one of these predominantly very young mums and their babies.

It's caused an uproar on the forum and many complaints have been made to Bebo, who so far have done NOTHING

The mother went to the police but feels she has been 'fobbed off' by them also


I have suggested she contact the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Organisation. Can anybody else suggest another course of action??

I'm really worried about this and I feel that the IP address of this 'person' needs to be looked at urgently.

The Bebo site has now been made private but still not taken down.

This 'person' has a whole list of contacts who probably don't even know who they're talking to.

Pam - if it is possible, can you post the advice you have given to Treasure on this thread so that the information is there for other members to be aware of?

Not a problem if it really was a genuine PM - of support or something. In which case - don't post here as we don't allow Private Messages to be posted on threads. We respect the privacy of the two members.

But IF it was advice based your knowledge and understanding which would genuinely help others, can you re-post and share.

I've told her that, thank you Merly.

She isn't a Bebo member and doesn't know much about the site. She had a private website with pictures of her daughter, which was violated and the pictures stolen then posted on Bebo.

She has now been blocked my the Bebo user, but we suspect the photos are still up.

Hi Zannie!

She has the link. The person is supposedly a teenage mum, aged just 16. There are many pictures of her on her pages, and she's been contacting other young mums (quite randomly, from what I could tell) and adding them to her friends list. She's joined all sorts of mothers groups etc. It's quite scary.

Even if she is really just a silly teenager messing about it's bad enough, but my fear is it isn't the girl in the photos at all.......

Unfortunately predators are known to approach young teen mums because they are vulnerable which always makes me suspicious of this sort of activity.
It is quite common for a predator to pose as someone who is vulnerable,for example a teenage depression sufferer.

She claims to be just sixteen, with a two year old daughter and a son due any day now!

What I find equally disturbing though is the lack of support from Bebo and the police on this. This poor lady has had pictures of her daughter posted for all to see, under another name, yet nobody seems to want to take action

Bebo will never act....FACT

The police will not help because a crime has not technically been comitted
