Re: GARRY 16 AND LISA MICHAEL 13 - Derby (UK) - 07/09/00
I came across this website this evening by accident. (not that I haven't thought about Madeleine and her desperate mum and dad many many times.
Gary and Lisa Michael are my children (well, young adults now. I was shocked to see them on this website, I had no idea about it, it brought a tear to my eye. The extremely good news is I found Gary last year, then in August last year my daughter Lisa came back to England to live with me and my husband. I never thought I would see them again.
Gary and Lisa thought I was dead and only found out a few years ago that I was still alive and looking for them!!! obviously they had no means to contact me from Pakistan. Thank God for Facebook because that is how I found my son, when he left the village he was living in to find a job in the city. Gary is now 21 and still living in Pakistan.
Lisa was 6 years old when she was abducted but she has adjusted to life in the UK very very well. Lisa is now 18 and enjoying college and thoroughly enjoying life with us.
My husband and I have been through hell searching for Gary and Lisa, now we have found them life can begin again!!!!
Thank you for putting my children on your long list of missing children, I hope and pray everyone has a happy ending too.
Tracey Martin xx

Hello Tracey,
Welcome to our forum and thank you for the update on your children. We had thought that your children had been found because their information was removed from the Interpol website. Now you have verified this for us. Thank you for sharing the news and updating us on your children, who are now young adults. The internet is such a powerful tool when it comes to locating missing children.

Yes Interpol did ask the local police in Pakistan to interview Gary and Lisa. Apart from being told they were alive and well I was not given anymore information about where they were, so to me they were still missing!!!! It has all turned out well though in the end

I am sooooo pleased for you Tracey....
Lovely to hear you have got a happy ending, or should I say a Happy New Beginning?
I'm sure nothing can really make up for those lost years but hopefully creating new happy memories will go a long way towards healing the pain....
12 years is a long time - I know your story will give hope to the parent's of other missing children.
Take care.....

Re: GARRY 16 AND LISA MICHAEL 13 - Derby (UK) - 07/09/00
Thank you Twiglet
Yes it is a happy new beginning, I cherish every day with Lisa.
People always told me never to give up hope and they were right! I have sooo many court orders over the years for Gary and Lisa to be returned but in the end I believe it was luck. One thing that surprised me was how much Gary and Lisa remembered about their life before they were abducted. No matter how much their dad tried to brainwash them they still asked questions when they got older. Memories are something an abductor cannot take away from a child.
It is so sad to read all the names of the children who have been taken on this site, I feel for all the parents who have children missing.

Re: GARRY 16 AND LISA MICHAEL 13 - Derby (UK) - 07/09/00
Hi Everyone
Just a quick update on Gary and Lisa
I attended court on Monday for the Trial of Gary and Lisa's Dad. He was arrested for their Abduction last November. The CPS wanted me to take the stand as a witness, so by Monday I was very confident and was ready to face him in court. He has managed to stop the trial a couple of times with silly excuses so each time I have had to build up my courage again. Even though he has pleaded not guilty and claimed I knew he was taking the children to Pakistan he turned up at court on Monday and pleaded Guilty!!!! saying he did not know it was a crime.
I feel so cheated out of giving my evidence, explaining what my children and myself have been put through over the past 12 years. I feel even up to the very last minute he has been in control as always.
Do I sound like I'm being stupid? a guilty verdict is what we all wanted but not from HIM, I wanted everyone to know the pain he has caused and ultimately have a Jury agree with me.
Anyway he will not be sentenced until May 22nd and I am praying he will recieve a prison sentence. The barrister told me to be prepared to be disappointed as there are no clear guide lines for this type of crime. If they let him go after 6 months on remand what kind of message will this send to people who abduct their children?????
No matter what punishment the judge hands down will never compare to the horror my children and I have been through but I'm praying he does not walk out of court a free man on the 22nd. My daughter needs to rebuild her life without looking over her shoulder all the time x

Hi Tracey,
No, you are not being stupid at all. I am glad that our forum has given you a platform on which to air your side of the story and let everyone know what you children't father has put you and them through. He has pleaded guilty, which means by law he has admitted that he has broken the law. I hope that he will receive a justified punishment to fit what he has done. Although no prison sentence would ever be enough for what he put you through. But please do feel free to use our forum to update us on the news and to vent your anger and frustrations. We are all here for you and at the end of the day, you have your children back and they respect you. They are much older now and can understand what went on and I have no doubt that they will make choices for themselves now.

Thank you Tezza
People keep saying that I must be so pleased that this has come to an end but I certainly don't feel like its the end. I honestly thought I would feel happier and for once feel in control of my life after the court case but I don't. I know I have got to pull myself together for my daughter but I still can't make the pain go away!!!

I can appreciate that Tracey, he has robbed you of missing years with your children that can never be regained. But find strength in knowing that they never forgot you and as you rightly say, memories can never be snatched away. We are here for you Tracey. Big hugs to you!

Re: GARRY 16 AND LISA MICHAEL 13 - Derby (UK) - 07/09/00
Just watched Tracey and Lisa on this morning...
An emotional interview... Neither gave upthe hope of seeing each other again some day.
Even though Gary has decided to stay in Pakistan they are in constant contact..
Lisa, noiw a beautiful young lady is adjusting well to the cultural changes of liviing back in the UK. (which as a woman are very different..)
Despite having had spent more of her life in Pakistan by the time Lisa was returned to the Uk, she still felt like she was coming home...
Their father is now serving a prison sentence for child abduction and is not allowd to make any contact with Tracey or Lisa...
A very brave mum and daughter....

Re: GARRY 16 AND LISA MICHAEL 13 - Derby (UK) - 07/09/00
Apparently when the father abducted the children and took them to pakistan he left them with their grandparents and he returned to the UK but no body was aware of this....
The father is now in Prison so I can only assume that Gary is with his grandparents or maybe at 19 years of age is living his own life...
