Police looking for missinsg 12-year-old Loris girl
Horry County police are asking for the public's help in locating a 12-year-old female that has not been seen since Sunday afternoon.
According to a press release issued by the Horry County Police Department, McCarrie C. Blankenship was last seen riding her bicycle at the intersection of Loop Road and Highway 366 around 4:00 p.m.
HCPD Lt. Jamie DeBari said her bicycle was located, but did not specify where it was found.
Blankenship is described to be about 5’5” tall, weighing about 110 pounds with blue eyes and blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a green and white sundress with bows on the shoulders, blue shorts, and carrying a pink and white backpack.
Police say she was upset and talked about running away the day before she went missing.
Anyone with information on where she may be is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at (843) 915-8345, dispatch at (843) 248-1520, or (843) 915-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.

Help needed to find missing 12-year-old
Horry County police are looking for McCarrie Blankenship, 12, who was last seen riding her blue bicycle near her home at the intersection of Loop Road and Highway 366 in the Loris area at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Geraldine Harris, McCarrie's grandmother and legal guardian, says McCarrie was last seen wearing a green and white sundress with blue shorts and flip flops and carrying a pink and white backpack.
Harris says the bicycle was located on Four Seasons Road behind a tobacco building. That's about two miles away from their home. Harris says McCarrie was told she wasn't allowed to ride on that road.
Horry County police say McCarrie was upset over a recent move and threatened to run away the day before she disappeared.
Harris says McCarrie has never run away before.
We spoke with Lt. Jamie DeBari with Horry County police about why an Amber Alert was not issued for McCarrie. He said her disappearance does not meet the strict criteria required for an Amber Alert to be issued. You can read those criteria here.

Conway man in police custody, 12-year-old runaway found
A Conway man is in police custody with charges pending in connection with a 12-year-old girl, who reportedly ran away from her home on Sunday, Horry County police Lt. Jamie DeBari said Wednesday.
The girl, McCarrie C. Blankenship, was found in the area of S.C. 22 and Robert Edge Parkway about 1 p.m. Wednesday and taken into emergency protective custody, DeBari said. The 25-year-old man was taken into police custody about 15 minutes later in the parking lot of Hardees on U.S. 17 South in North Myrtle Beach.
The man is being held pending formally charged in the incident. The Sun News does not identify people in police custody unless warrants or formal charges have been filed.

Family: Missing Loris girl found, police arrest 25-year-old
A 12-year-old girl missing since Sunday afternoon was found shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, a family member said. Tears of sorrow turned to joy as word spread that the missing teen was found.
“I just thank God that she was found and safe” said Geraldine Harris, the young girl’s grandmother.
According to a press release issued by the Horry County Police Department, McCarrie C. Blankenship was last seen riding her bicycle at the intersection of Loop Road and Highway 366 around 4:00 p.m.
