Hastings police issue warrant for mother they say fled with son
Authorities are looking for a Hastings mother suspected of abducting her son.
An arrest warrant was issued for Wendi Lee Bartell Dimm, 44, who allegedly fled with her son 5-year-old Timber Dimm to keep him from having court-ordered visitation with his father, according to a Dakota County District Court criminal complaint.
Dimm was charged Thursday with one felony count of depriving another of parental or custodial rights. Dimm was last seen in the Hastings area on or about June 5.
In September, Dimm reportedly violated a custody and visitation court order, according to the Hastings police. Authorities issued a statewide alert. A Douglas County Sheriff deputy found her with her son in Alexandria, Minn. during a routine traffic stop.
Dimm is described as a white female; 5 feet, 3 inches tall; 145 pounds with brown eyes and hair, Hastings police said. Timber is 3 feet tall, 40 pounds, has brown eyes and hair, with white and silver caps on his teeth. Dimm may be driving a black or dark-colored 1999 Saturn SL2, 4-door sedan, with a Minnesota license plate of TRH-057.

The Hastings Police Department is asking the public to help them find a mother and her 5-year-old son as they investigate a possible parental abduction case.
Investigators said they believe 44-year-old Wendi Lee Bartell Dimm fled her Hastings home in an effort to keep 5-year-old Timber Dimm from having court-ordered visitation with his father.

Concern grows over missing Hastings boy
Authorities are growing more concerned with each passing day about the fate of a missing 5-year-old Hastings boy apparently kidnapped by his mother.
Hastings Police first issued a public plea June 27 for help in locating 5-year-old Timber Dimm who is believed to be the victim of a parental abduction. The boy's mother, 44-year-old Wendi Lee Bartell Dimm, has been charged with one felony count of Depriving Another of Parental or Custodial Rights. A nationwide, extraditable arrest warrant has been issued for Bartell Dimm.
Six weeks after the plea was first issued, the trail remains stone cold and Hastings Police Chief Paul Schnell is growing more and more concerned about the boy's welfare.
"Given the length of time that has passed since Timber was taken and the lack of leads we have been able to develop, we are increasingly concerned for his safety and well-being," said Schnell in a news release. "We now suspect that Wendi Bartell Dimm may have obtained the assistance of others to conceal her whereabouts and aid in her continued criminal conduct. If it is determined that she is being intentionally concealed or aided, we will seek criminal charges to the fullest extent of the law. In cases like this, we cannot let out of sight become out of mind."

Missing boy's father now hopes for full custody
June was supposed to be a good month for Danny Dimm. He was going to pick up his boy, Timber, in Hastings and head home to Canada for four months. It was to be a great summer. It has turned into anything but.
When Dimm flew to Minnesota and drove to Shannon Drive in Hastings to pick up Timber, he was nowhere to be found. Dimm’s wife, Wendi Bartell Dimm, had fled with Timber and hasn’t been seen nor heard from since.
It is yet another setback in a custody dispute that dates back as far as December 2006.
“Financially, it’s just about bankrupt me,” Danny Dimm said. “My success has a lot to do with my motivation. That’s really taken a dump. It has been very, very tough.”
The stakes for Dimm have never been higher. If his boy can be found safe, Dimm is convinced he’ll get full custody of Timber. Right now, though, just finding the pair is his first concern.

A missing Minnesota woman and her 5-year-old son have been found at a women's shelter in South Dakota.
Wendi Lee Bartell Dimm and her son, Timber, disappeared from Hastings in early June just before the boy was supposed to begin a four-month visit with his father in British Columbia. Bartell Dimm faces a felony charge of interfering with parental custody in Dakota County District Court.
A provincial court in British Columbia last month granted Danny Dimm sole custody of his son. His attorney, Theresa Gerlach, says Dimm is relieved and happy his son is OK.

Timber Dimm, 5, and his mother, Wendi Bartell Dimm were found at a women's shelter in rural South Dakota. Officers from the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigations and the Perkins County Sheriff's Office arrested Wendi Bartell Dimm and turned Timber Dimm over to Child Protective Services. Timber Dimm will eventually be transferred into the custody of his father.
