Warrant issued in possible Two Rivers custody dispute

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Two Rivers man accused of fleeing the state with his son the day before their cabin burned.

Michael L. Moore, 57, and his 9-year-old son, Jack, have been missing since June 5. A fire destroyed their cabin at 28 Mile Chena Hot Springs Road the next day, and investigators have since determined the fire’s cause was suspicious, according to the criminal complaint against Moore.

Moore was charged Thursday with felony custodial interference for taking his son away from his ex-wife, who shares custody with him.

Moore allegedly picked up his son from his wife the day before the fire. The same day, footage from an airport security camera shows the two boarding a one-way flight to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, according to Alaska State Troopers.

He had recently resigned from his job as a park ranger at Chena River State Recreation Area and rented a U-Haul truck to move his belongings out of his house, according to troopers.

Man from Alaska wanted for abduction of 9-year-old boy: Jack Cameron Moore‎

On July 9, 2011, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children issued an alert for a missing 9-year-old boy: Jack Cameron Moore. Jack has been missing since June 5, 2011 and is believed to be in the company of his father, Michael Moore, 57. Authorities say that a suspicious fire destroyed their cabin home located at 28 Mile Chena Hot Springs Road in Fairbanks, Alaska and the two disappeared following the fire. A felony warrant has been issued for Michael Moore for interfering with child custody as he and his ex-wife share custody of Jack Moore.

Fugitive found, missing child recovered in SoCal

‎An Alaska man who allegedly abducted his son has been found and arrested in Santa Barbara, along with the boy.
U.S. Marshals Sr. Inspector Lisa Norbert says Michael Lee Moore was taken into custody Thursday in Santa Barbara.

The 57-year-old is accused of abducting his son, 9-year-old Jack Cameron Moore, from Fairbanks Alaska on June 9.

Norbert says Moore is expected to be arraigned this week in California before being extradited back to Alaska to face charges.
