Missing Dundee schoolgirl spotted in Wellgate centre‎
Sighting of 13-year-old with a man near McDonald’s restaurant comes soon after mother issued appeal

A missing Dundee schoolgirl was spotted in a city centre shopping centre on Friday, it has emerged.

Michaela Hunter, 13, was seen near the McDonald’s restaurant in the Wellgate Shopping Centre about 12.25pm.

She was with a man described as 5ft 7in and slim with shoulder-length brown hair and patchy facial hair.

He was wearing a dark-blue tracksuit top and a dark hood. The sighting comes after Michaela’s mother, Audrey Reid, made an emotional plea for her daughter to come home.

She said: ‘‘I’ve called her friends and no one appears to know where she is.

“If any of her friends do know, they need to do the right thing and tell the police or tell me so that we can find Michaela. Please come home, Michaela. I love you and want you back safe and sound.”

Missing Michaela: Letford joins plea‎
Dundee’s civic leader today made an emotional appeal for missing 13-year-old Michaela Hunter to come home.

Lord Provost John Letford, whose Lochee ward includes the girl’s family home, urged anyone with any knowledge of her whereabouts to take a “brave step” and come forward with information.
The former youth worker, who is experienced in dealing with vulnerable children, said, “There is a lot of concern throughout the city for the well-being of Michaela.

Cops fear missing Michaela may have left home city‎
The 13-year-old, from Dundee, has not been seen since Monday April 19 - and cops have now widened the search to Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Police say missing Dundee teenager Michaela Hunter may have left the city - and have dedicated 30 officers to the hunt for her.

The 13-year-old has been missing from her home in the city's Yeamans Lane since Monday April 19.

Cops say she may have attempted to change her appearance to conceal her identity.

Chief Inspector Suzi Mertes of Tayside Police, in charge of operational policing in Dundee, said: "It is possible that Michaela is still being given shelter and assistance by friends or associates.

"I would urge parents to talk to their children and to check bedrooms to make sure that Michaela isn't hiding there. Anyone who is caught ‘harbouring' Michaela needs to know that they are committing a criminal offence by doing so.

Money link in Michaela hunt‎

Police involved in the eleven-day hunt for missing Michaela Hunter today revealed the teenager had a sum of money on her at the time she disappeared

But the officer leading the inquiry said she believed any cash the 13-year-old had when she vanished will now have run out and warned that anyone giving her money or food is committing an offence.
Chief Inspector Suzi Mertes said, “We know Michaela had some money in her possession at the time she went missing. However, it is likely her own money will have run out by now.

“She may well be receiving money or indeed assistance by way of food and clothing from friends or associates.

“If anyone is assisting Michaela by way of shelter or by providing money or clothing they need to know they are committing an offence.

“If anyone has seen or heard from Michaela they need to get in touch with us immediately.”

April is always a very busy month for me. I am only seeing this case now !

Ok I am very saddened by it. Please email anyone you know in Scotland as this case must be solved !! If have friends send posters or links to friends in Scotland with posters as she needs to be found asap. She is only 13. It is shocking actually. Why don't we in Europe have more willpower to help missing kids?

Michaela has been missing from St Johns High School, Dundee since 19 April 2010.

There is great concern for Michaela’s safety and she is urged to call our confidential service Runaway Helpline on Freefone 0808 800 7070 for advice and support.

Michaela is 5ft tall, of slim build with brown eyes and shoulder length brown hair. When last seen she was wearing black trousers, a white shirt, a black cardigan and a grey and pink coloured jacket.
