Special fundraiser for two missing teenagers

News 10NBC has learned that family and friends of missing teenagers Brittanee Drexel and Brian Sullivan, both of Chili, will hold a special fundraiser for the CUE Center for Missing Persons.

The fundraiser will take place Monday night at Charlotte Beach at 6:30 p.m. The CUE center is helping both families in the search for their loved ones.

Brittanee Drexel was 17-years-old when she disappeared last year while on spring break in Myrtle Beach. Brian Sullivan was 19-years-old when he vanished three years ago. He was last seen at the Burger King on Chili Avenue.

The fundraiser will include music and raffles.

Investigators release new information in Drexel disappearance‎

Myrtle Beach Police investigators are releasing new information in the disappearance of Brittanee Drexel, saying that they are looking at even more people who may have been involved.

Captain of Investigations, Joe Vella, says the number keeps growing.

"There's a couple more we're looking at now," Captain Vella explained. "One will lead to another to another to another, so we know that during the experiences of investigations, it's going to lead to you know, several more at some point, and they'll be people that will be questioned."

Captain Vella says they are just one good lead away from making an arrest.

"One more [person of interest] could break the case," Captain Vella explained.

A team of investigators has been working on this case, some of them even wear "Help Find Brittanee" bracelets. They say they have to be tight-lipped about it all, because it is an active investigation, but Detective Vincent Dorio says they are getting closer.

Dawn Drexel: Brittanee returns home in a dream‎

The mother of Brittanee Drexel said she did something she hasn't done since her daughter went missing a year and a half ago. She had a dream.

The dream: "I need to see a counselor"

The dream was that Brittanee came home.

Dawn Drexel says it happened a couple of weeks ago. She remembers dreaming that Brittanee was in their home surrounded by her old friend. Dawn Drexel remembers what Brittanee told her in the dream.

"'I need to see a counselor.'" Dawn recalls Brittanee telling her. "I was just like wow. It was just weird, how it all came about. She was like I need to talk to somebody."

Drexel says even Monica Caison, the woman searching full time for Brittanee down in South Carolina, dreams about her. "She don't really dream about anybody that she searches for but she has about Brittanee," Dawn said.

Drexel's mother says search is 'mentally exhausting'

More than 50 people searched a heavily wooded area in Charleston County Sunday, looking for clues in the disappearance of Brittanee Drexel.

Search crews used horses, ATV teams and K-9 units during the search for the missing New York teen. The Myrtle Beach Police Department is handling the investigation.

Between 50-75 people were involved in Sunday's search which began at 8 a.m. near the corner of Old Georgetown Road and Rutledge Road in McClellanville.

Dawn Drexel, Brittanee's mother, was present at the search. She said that Sunday's search was the 48th conducted since her daughter disappeared. She said she has attended all of them.

"It's mentally exhausting," Drexel said. "It's just very exhausting to come here and you know in these areas it's just all woods. You don't fathom your kid being out here, but it's just hard, very hard."

Tip Prompts New Search for Missing Spring Breaker‎

Information from a tipster prompted authorities in South Carolina to resume the search for a New York teen who vanished while on spring break in Myrtle Beach last year, authorities said.

Brittanee Drexel, 17, was last seen by friends on April 25, 2009, when she left the Bar Harbor Hotel in Myrtle Beach to meet friends at the nearby BlueWater Resort. Surveillance footage shows Drexel arriving at the resort, then leaving roughly 10 minutes later. What happened to her after that remains a mystery.

Weekend search for Drexel and Soles‎

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - It's been more than 18 months since New York teen Brittanee Drexel vanished from a vacation on the Grand Strand.

Now, more than 40 searches later - and a heartbreaking ordeal for her family - the case remains unsolved. This weekend, search crews ramped up their effort, this time in Charleston County.

The agency that set up this weekend's searches tells me they've been planning at least one of them for weeks. But Myrtle Beach Police say there are no new details, evidence or a tip that was the catalyst for the search, just one more attempt to find closure for two families.

As the search for answers continues, two cold cases remain unsolved.

28-year-old Crystal Soles, last seen in 2005 and 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel - missing since April 2009.

This weekend, more than 50 volunteers fought through the brush, scouring the woods, searching for some sign of either woman in Charleston County.
