Weather chills, not stops search for Hailey Dunn‎

Weather has taken its toll on the search for Hailey Dunn, 13, of Colorado City. On Saturday, 10 volunteers went out and searched in much improved weather conditions. Previous searches involved much larger numbers of volunteers.

Temperatures had been in the teens and 20's for much of last week but on Saturday high temperatures in the area were in the mid to upper 50's.

One search coordinator was quoted as saying the search continues and more volunteers are needed. Hailey disappeared the last week of December. Her mothers live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins has been called a suspect by authorities.

Hailey Dunn news: Suspect in missing Texas girl case speaks out

On Tuesday a local media outlet posted video of an interview with the only person named as a suspect by authorities in the case of missing Colorado City, Texas girl, Hailey Dunn -- her mother’s estranged boyfriend Shawn Adkins.

Adkins gave KTAB a timeline of what occurred on Dec. 27, the day Hailey vanished, saying he quit his job, left work, and returned home to find no one there. He then headed to his mother’s in Big Spring and searched the Internet for information on obtaining unemployment benefits.

He said he returned to the home he shared with Billie Dunn and her children at about 3:00 p.m. and Hailey was there watching television. Adkins said Hailey told him she was going to see her father and then would spend the night with a friend.

Adkins said he remained at the home until about 6:00 p.m. when he went to pick up Billie from work. He claimed neither were concerned that Hailey did not return home since she often spends the night with friends and does not call.

The KTAB reporter also asked him why there was a discrepancy in what he told investigators about losing his job and what he told Billie -- that he had been fired. He was also questioned about cell phone pings on the day that Hailey vanished that did not place him in Big Springs, where he said he had gone.

Adkins also claims he stopped cooperating with police because he could not trust them anymore. He alleges his attorney has told him to keep quiet.

Clint Dunn Expresses Frustration With Authorites‎

Nearly seven weeks after the disappearance of 13 year old Hailey Dunn, her father Clint Dunn is frustrated with police as he continues to search for his daughter.

"I haven't talked to them in three weeks, I don't know what their doing." said Dunn Saturday.

Clint Dunn expressed his frustration with how tight lipped authorities are being about the investigation of his missing daughter.

Clint told KTXS "They haven't called me or nothing. Last time I went up there, I talked to them three weeks ago was the last time they have gotten a hold of me."

National search teams return to find Hailey‎

Bad weather and low turnout has stalled the search for 13-year-old Hailey Dunn, missing from Colorado City since Dec. 28, but three national search organizations are planning to return this weekend to bring momentum back to the search.

Volunteers from the KlaasKids Foundation of California and the Laura Recovery Center for Missing Children of Houston will return and will be joined by Team Amber Rescue of San Diego. Team Amber Rescue formed after the abduction and murder of Amber DuBois in 2009.

"All together we will have close to 20 volunteers coming," said Brad Dennis of the KlaasKids Foundation.

Hailey Dunn's Father Arrested on Outstanding Warrant‎

Missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn's father, Clint Dunn, has been arrested on an outstanding warrant.

The Scurry County Jail tells NewsWest9 that the 33-year-old was arrested Tuesday for an expired driver's license and backing without safety.

Dunn is still in jail at this time.

A rather unusual side story linked to the missing teen from Colorado City

Hailey Dunn's father was arrested earlier this week in Snyder and jailed on unrelated charges to her disappearance.

The Snyder Daily News reports Clint Dunn was detained on a warrant for an expired drivers license and backing a vehicle in an unsafe manner.

Clint Dunn released from jail‎
Father of missing girl sits out misdemeanor fines

Clint Dunn, the father of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn, who has been missing since Dec. 28, was released from the Scurry County Jail early today, officials there confirmed.

Dunn, 33, turned himself in Feb. 15 so he could be credited for some fines associated with a probation violation and several warrants.

According to jail officials the current charges include a probation violation for possession of marijuana, expired drivers license and unsafe backing.

Dunn's stay in jail satisfied a little over $840 in fines and court costs associated the misdemeanor offenses

Clint Dunn's Emotional Return To Searching For Daughter‎

Whether Clint Dunn could make it to the search this weekend for his missing daughter Hailey Dunn was up in the air.

Clint was taken into custody for a probation violation related to a previous case in Scurry County.

Volunteers with the search told KTXS his presence is crucial and, sure enough, Friday he was released.

Clint Dunn was emotional after help from a unidentified person to get out of jail and continue searching for his daughter, Hailey.

"I'm going to be here to thank everybody and support everybody for helping somebody they've never met," Clint Dunn said. He said it meant a lot to be among search volunteers Friday.

Clint had been in jail since Tuesday for a charge unrelated to Hailey's disappearance. "They woke me up this morning saying, 'Get your stuff ready; somebody got you out," he said.

An anonymous person paid the almost $400 in fines for Clint to be released. "I'm going to find 'em and thank them personally," he said.

Missing Teen's Family Works To Keep Case In Public Eye‎

Under guidance of national search organizations, the missing Colorado City teen's family will begin working harder to get Hailey's face in front of the public eye.

A representative from The Laura Recovery Center says the family has started planning awareness events.

For example, next weekend they're heading to Dallas to hand out fliers and search for their daughter.

Authorities Searching Big Spring Landfill in Connection with Hailey Dunn Case

News West 9 has learned that authorities are searching the Big Spring landfill right now in connection with the Hailey Dunn case.

Colorado City Police are being assisted by the Big Spring Police Department and the Howard County Sheriff's Office.

Several area landfills, including those in Snyder and Abilene, have already been searched as part of the investigation.

Hailey Dunn Update: Authorities Won't Confirm If Evidence Was Found At Big Spring Landfill‎

Authorities will not confirm if any evidence was found at the Big Spring landfill. Tuesday they searched through the trash for clues of missing Colorado City 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.

This was the second time the Big Spring landfill was searched and the fourth landfill investigated as the case nears the two-month mark.

Authorities told us they were following up on a lead.

The Tuesday search came as tensions have risen among some volunteer searchers and Hailey's family.

On Tuesday, the search group named Hailey's Angels gave KTXS a copy of the video they say caused a dispute between them and Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn.

"It made a certain somebody really upset to see what they didn't want to see," said Mychelle Grissom.

Not prepared for an interview Tuesday, Billie told KTXS off camera that she felt the group was focusing on themselves and not her daughter.

She also wants searchers to look for an alive little girl, and "Hailey's Angels" were only searching "ugly creek beds and fields for a body."

New Details Released in Connection with the Search for Hailey Dunn‎

There is new and disturbing information in the Hailey Dunn investigation.

NewsWest 9 has obtained the results of a search warrant that says exactly what was found back in January.

The search warrant affidavit says Colorado City Police seized a computer and a memory stick as part of the beginning stage of their investigation.

The memory stick was taken from the master bedroom in Hailey's mom's house in Colorado City. That memory stick contained 320 pornographic images and videos.

Another court document says more than 108,000 images were found on a computer taken from Shawn Adkins' mother's house in Big Spring. Shawn Adkins is the boyfriend of Hailey Dunn's mother.

Those pictures depicted "deviant acts" according to the documents. Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs tells NewsWest 9, those images included child pornography and bestiality.

Sheriff Toombs tells NewsWest 9, Hailey was not in any pictures on the seized computer.

Hailey Dunn's grandmother arrested on drug charge

Connie Ostrander, 49, mother of Billie Jean Dunn and grandmother of missing teenager Hailey Dunn, was arrested Friday on a drug charge.

Officials at the Scurry County sheriff's office said Ostrander was arrested by deputies around 2:15 p.m. on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, Penalty Group 1, and booked into the Scurry County Jail. Bond had not been set as of late Friday, but Ostrander was expected to appear before a magistrate before Sunday.
