ADAM JONES 10 - Bahrain (Taken by sharia court to Qatar) - 18/11/09
Although Adam is techinally not a missing person, I feel this case still needs to be featured here and Adam and his mother needs our support.

Mother is denied access to Adam
A DISTRAUGHT mother faced a new blow after she was denied access in the company of social workers to see her 10-year-old son, who is in his grandmother's custody in Qatar.
Briton Rebecca Jones was promised she would get the chance to see Adam after being apart for nearly two months.
But her dreams were shattered on Wednesday when the family of her former Qatari husband Jamal Al Madhaiki, who died in 2005, refused to allow her to see the son she raised.
Adam's Qatari relatives have apparently told him he has been moved to Qatar because of a swine flu scare in Bahrain.

10-yr-old Adam Jones - A Child's Custody
(snippet)
One case that has made international headlines recently is the case of Adam, whose mother is British and whose Qatari father passed away in 2005. In early October of this year, Rebecca Jones, Adam's mother, was talked into visiting her deceased husband's family in Qatar with her ten-year-old son Adam. The boy was a virtual stranger to the family, having lived in Bahrain most of his life. But what was supposed to be a family visit has turned into a family's desperate fight over the custody of Adam. The Qatari family promptly kidnapped the child and Adam's 77-year-old grandmother has now been awarded custody by a Qatari court.

Woman fights for son taken by sharia court
British mother Rebecca Jones is fighting to win back her son Adam, 10, after a Sharia court in Qatar awarded custody of the boy to her dead ex-husband's family.

Mrs Jones says her son was "kidnapped" while visiting his Arab relatives in the Gulf state eight weeks ago. She claims she was tricked into signing legal documents she did not understand.
Mrs Jones, a former bank executive who lives in Bahrain, has been told after a series of Sharia hearings that she is no longer the legal guardian of Adam. With the backing of human rights campaigners she is now seeking to have the case transferred to Qatar's civil courts.
Last week she was allowed to meet Adam for the first time since he was taken away. During the tearful encounter she says the boy, who suffers from dyspraxia, begged to return home with his mother.
Mrs Jones, 43, who is originally from Sheffield, moved to Bahrain 25 years ago where her father worked for the Merchant Navy. She married Adam's father, Jamal Al Madhaiki, in 1998. They were divorced the following year but remained on good terms until he was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2005.
She was remarried in 2003 to Barrie Jones and the couple have a four-year-old daughter, Alex.

Mum reunited with Adam in Qatar ... but only for a short time
An emotional British mother was last night briefly reunited with the son she claims has been kidnapped by Qatari relatives. "It was a bit better tonight, still very upsetting. I brought him some presents and he seemed happy with that," Bahrain resident Rebecca Jones told the GDN from Qatar.
"He keeps telling me he wants to come home with me so it's really terrible.
"It's difficult to leave him, he was very tearful tonight when I left but I get to see him twice a week now. I will be back to see him in two days. I think that has made it easier for both of us.

Adam's family vow action
(snippet)
"Rebecca is living in an absolute nightmare. I told Ms Russell on Tuesday that they need to start looking at how they can help my daughter-in-law," said Mr Jones.
"She has received threats and I am very concerned for Rebecca's welfare - she is at risk and has very little government support.
"God forbid if anything happens to her when she's out there.
"But I made it clear to Ms Russell that she and the British government will have a fair share of the blame if anything does."
Alongside the family's meeting with Ms Russell, Mr Jones also spoke with members of Amnesty International (AI) about Adam's case.
"We were satisfied with what was agreed and AI did declare that as the abduction took place in Qatar - not in Bahrain as they had earlier believed - they were prepared to liaise with Qatari authorities over the issue," he said.

Adam's legal battle taking a new turn
Snippet
THE legal battle to reunite Briton Adam Jones with his family in Bahrain took a new twist yesterday, after a judge said he could not take the case because he knows the boy's Qatari uncle.
Bahrain resident Rebecca Jones appeared before the Cassation Court in Doha, in hope of overturning a ruling in November which granted custody of her 10-year-old son to his 77-year-old Qatari grandmother Mariam Al Madhaiki.
But Ms Jones walked out of the courtroom heartbroken, after the judge presiding over the case said he could not continue, because of his personal relationship with the boy's uncle, Fahad Al Madhaiki.
He transferred the case to another Cassation Court, under another judge, which will review the appeal on January 17.
