Corsica again the focus of search for Swiss twins
Swiss police say they are refocusing on the French island of Corsica in their search for 6-year-old Swiss twins missing since Jan. 30.
The police also said Friday the girls were last seen with their father at a beach near Morges, Switzerland.
They said there is no link between the girls' disappearance and a Swiss woman named Katia Iritano who disappeared on Jan. 25. Some had speculated she might have known the girls' father.

Police find GPS microchip of missing twins' father
Italian police on Saturday found the microchip from the satellite navigator used by the father of missing Swiss twins, but said it was not clear whether the information on it could be salvaged.
"We found the microchip buried under stones," near the tracks of the station in southern Italy where Matthias Schepp threw himself under a fast train, local police official Alfredo Fabbrocini told AFP.
The chip, made by the company Garmin, has been sent to the firm's Milan branch before it is sent on to America to be analysed, Fabbrocini said.
Police hope the chip will help them retrace Schepp's steps since his January 28 departure from Switzerland and lead to the missing six-year-olds, Livia and Alessia.
"It looks in better condition than the navigator, but we can't be sure what, if anything, they'll find on it," Fabbrocini said. "We can't say this is the turning point in the case."

Swiss police say 6-year-old missing twins last seen alive in Geneva
GENEVA - More than five weeks after missing 6-year-old Swiss twins were last seen, witnesses have confirmed the girls and their father were in Geneva on the afternoon of their disappearances.
The sighting, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on January 30, is the last of Alessia and Livia Schepp since their father — Matthias Schepp — picked them up from their home in Lausanne.
Schepp's body was found under a train days later in Cerignola, Italy after he sent a letter to his wife saying the girls were "resting in peace, they didn't suffer" — and he would now kill himself.
Swiss police in the canton (state) of Vaud said Monday witnesses had "specific information to suggest that it was Alessia, Livia and their father" they had seen.
Italian police found a microchip from Schepp's car's navigational device on Saturday.

Sighting of missing Swiss twins confirmed by witnesses
Geneva, Switzerland - Swiss police said Monday that witness accounts of missing twins Alessia and Livia Schepp being seen alive with their father in Geneva on the day they vanished have been confirmed.
Matthias Schepp, 43, reportedly took the girls from their St. Sulpice, Switzerland home on Jan. 28. Police say he had studied suicide methods, poisons, information regarding firearms, and ferry schedules before taking his 6-year-old daughters with him.
The latest confirmed sighting of the twins was between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Jan. 30 in Geneva.
Schepp committed suicide shortly thereafter, throwing himself under a train in southern Italy on Feb. 3.
A week or so later, a letter written by Schepp to his estranged wife was obtained by police, which claimed he killed the girls and said, “You will not see them again.”
Schepp also wrote that Alessia and Livia did “did not suffer and died in peace.”

Missing twins: chief Swiss investigator raises spectre of murder
Lausanne, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Pascal Gilléron, chief investigator in canton Vaud in the case of missing twins Alessia and Livia Schepp, has told a Fribourg newspaper in an interview Friday that officials are now considering more closely the possibility that the six-year-old girls’ father killed them.
The children disappeared, with their father, 30 January from their village of St Sulpice near Lausanne, and while many of his steps have been traced, the thread for the girls’ movements was lost.
The three-country investigation will move back to Switzerland next week, he told La Liberté, to confirm information already gathered by police in Switzerland.

Authorities vow 2-month-old search continues for missing Swiss twin girls
The now 2-month-old search for missing Swiss twins has turned up new surveillance images of the father who whisked them away and later killed himself in which he is alone without the 6-year-old girls.
Investigators suggested Wednesday that the new video and other new evidence lent more credence to the theory that when Alessia and Livia Schepp disappeared on Jan. 30, their father Matthias Schepp drove them from their hometown in Lausanne on a one-way trip to the French island of Corsica, where the family had vacationed in happier times.
"The father's presence has been confirmed by a number of video images from surveillance cameras," investigators from Switzerland, France and Italy said in a joint statement. "The presence of the girls, however, has been confirmed only by witnesses."
At a news conference, police and prosecutors from the three nations said they also had determined there were just four children on the overnight ferry that Schepp took from Marseille to the French island of Corsica, lending weight to witness accounts that the girls were with him when he drove his black Audi A6 wagon onto the boat.
He had bought three tickets for the ferry to Corsica, but just one for the voyage back a day later to the French mainland. From there, he drove to Italy.

Police vow search for Swiss twins will continue
... Police said they had worked out more details of the father's four-day drive to Italy, but French police turned up no evidence the girls were with him after checking every gas station and hotel in the region around Montelimar where he spent the first night.
"At this stage in the investigation, the Corsica trail remains the primary one, but in the absence of any formal proof, all other hypotheses are also being examined by Swiss, French and Italian police," the investigators said in a statement issued by police in the Swiss canton (state) Vaud.
Investigators said Wednesday that the search for the girls would go on despite the mounting costs or lack of significant new leads, responding to criticism by the girls' mother earlier in the week.
Lucidi had written Monday on a Facebook page maintained by her supporters that the Swiss police could have done more to find the girls and she feared Lausanne's prosecutor, Pascal Gillieron, might call off the search because of the costs.
Swiss police said they were doing everything possible to find the two. Gillieron said the search would continue and he had spared no costs.
Lucidi also acknowledged that the prosecutor's "hypothesis of murder ... unfortunately seems to be the most plausible" explanation — though she believes the girls are alive.
"Even if it could seem improbable, Alessia and Livia could be in Europe or in any other part of the world, maybe trusted to someone," the mother wrote.

Missing twins: search for bodies in Geneva countryside, no results.(UPDATE)
SwissMissing, with help from Canton Vaud Police, carried out an 8km2 search in the Geneva countryside Saturday 9 April to Monday morning, looking for the bodies of the two missing six-year-olds, Alessia and Livia Schepp. Twelve people including a police officer and three dogs that are trained to look for bodies, teamed up and worked out of Confignon et à Chancy, Jean-Christophe Sauterel, head of press and communications for Vaud Police, told GenevaLunch.
He confirmed that the search turned up no results.
The search was undertaken after a sniffer dog confirmed the presence of the father, Matthias Schepp, in the area: a Geneva woman earlier reported that he had been seen with his daughters in the area Sunday 30 January.
SwissMissing has published a short report, in English, on the search, to thank donors who covered the CHF34,000 cost of the weekend search. The organization has also posted a YouTube video showing the search (in Italian). The family was not directly involved in the search.

Police on massive new search for missing twins near Morges (update 2)
Police in canton Vaud, with 140 people involved directly, are conducting a new search for six-year-old twins Alessia and Livia Schepp, between Morges and Saint Prex. The search is focusing on the Boiron area, a wooded stretch with a small river that feeds into Lake Geneva.
The search is being undertaken after a new witness came forward 6 April to say a man was seen in the area, carrying a suitcase, Sunday 30 January around 16:00. The information, combined with other elements in the investigation, has prompted police to carry out the search.
The Boiron stretch of beach is about a 20-minute drive from the home of the girls’ father, in St Sulpice, where the girls were last seen by people who knew them, earlier that Sunday afternoon. The beach was until recently popular with nudists, but since nudism was banned in the area, which can be reached only on foot, it has been less frequented.
Police spokesperson Jean-Christophe Sauterel says that the new search involves 11 sniffer dogs from several cantons, trained to search for bodies. A two-day search has been scheduled; when pressed by journalists as to whether or not this means police are now looking for a body, Sauterel said that they remain open to all possibilities.

High-tech search, dog hunt for missing twins give no clues
Search between Saint Prex and Morges will continue Friday
Police step up investigation into father’s presence in the area 30 January, seek new witnesses to black A6 Audi
A massive new effort poured into the hunt for missing six-year-olds, Alessia and Livia Schepp, failed to turn up anything Thursday, despite high-tech equipment used to comb the search area and 13 specially trained dogs and their handlers from three countries, working with a team of 140 persons.
Vaud police organized the search, using 11 dogs that are trained particularly to hunt for bodies, after a man provided new, reliable information in early April that he had seen a man dragging a suitcase in the Boiron beach area about 16:00 Sunday 30 January. The information fit some of the “technical” aspects of the case already in police hands.

Police find nothing during 2-day search, mother of missing twins faces press
Irina Lucidi with her daughters Livia and Alessia, from her Facebook page, Missing Alessia and Livia
Police in canton Vaud say a large-scale two-day search for missing twins Alessia and Livia is over, with nothing found. The search, using 11 dogs from three countries, specially trained to search for dead bodies, turned up no trace of the girls or their father. “The search did not provide any new material for the investigation,” noted police spokesperson Jean-Christophe Sauterel in a statement issued late Friday.
The search for the missing children will continue in Switzerland, France and Italy.
It was prompted by new information offered by a witness 6 April, who told police he saw a man dragging a suitcase Sunday 30 January about 16:00, in the Boiron area.

Missing twins - Wait exhausting for the mother
Waiting for exhausting Lucidi Irina, the mother of the twins disappeared Alessia and Livia, for expert opinions on the car recently found some traces of the captor-husband Matthias Schepp.
Biological traces of blood, saliva or sweat that contain the DNA profile of the small. Spots that were considered and that might indicate whether the children were killed with a poison or, as one hopes, have been drugged them to take away more easily.
Almost four months after the kidnapping, however, the investigation is still moving at 360 degrees and this is certainly not a good sign.
Take the tracks several times - most recently that of Lake Geneva - did not lead to anything and the Swiss magistrate following the case is more inclined to close the research in the belief that small is now dead, probably killed in the early hours the kidnapping.
Alessia's father and Livia could have killed them and brought the hidden and secret to the grave by committing suicide under a train at Cerignola.

Twins disappeared, we analyze the traces found on the car of Schepp
It's been several months since the death of the twins and Alessia Livia Schepp . Of them have not heard from him again, and this case for the time being is still a mystery. Despite the various tracks followed, nothing has been useful to know what happened to the two girls. The twins have died? O were taken to a place far from the only parent to do a disservice to his ex-wife?
It 'difficult to answer these questions. The fact is that, as time goes on, seems far more able to find them alive. But Irina Lucidi not lose hope, and thinks her children are alive, despite claims of her former husband, who had implied that the twins had died, saying " rest in peace in a safe place . " But Matthias Schepp committed suicide by throwing himself under a train, in Cerignola, leaving this poor mother on tenterhooks, waiting to be reunited with Alessia and Livia.
Irina Transparencies are difficult times. Are in fact just cash analysis on traces found on the car of Matthias Schepp. It could be signs of sweat, blood or saliva that might contain the DNA of Alessia and Livia. There is a possibility that these factors lead to a breakthrough in the research, because they might show whether the twins were killed with a poison or drugged, in order to carry out any transfer of small quiet.
Until now, any track followed proved a failure. This could lead the Swiss magistrate to order the termination of the research of twins, considered to be already dead, perhaps from the day they disappeared.
But if that happens, the reaction of those who support these children and their mother Irina, would certainly be very strong. To the official Alessia and Livia, are in fact many believe that the twins Alessia and Livia are still alive.

Alessia and Livia Schepp missing for 121 days: Irina Lucidi recalls her twins
Missing for 121 days , from that cursed January 30, the last during which were seen Alessia Schepp and Livia , the twins Swiss kidnapped and forced by his father who knows what fate.
Abducted, possibly poisoned and then buried in a place far from any suspicion, or entrusted to someone who was able to remove all traces of their passage, despite the action that has involved many European countries.
Whether dead or alive, you must keep looking to return to the family the legitimate truth of what happened and, above all, groped to reconstruct the crazy journey Matthias Schepp , inscrutable eyes of investigators. From Saint Sulpice in Cerignola, through Morges, Geneva, Lyon and finally, where the father of twins has finally turned off the phone and with it the ability to know, to understand, to fix it.
Irina Lucidi , during one of many connected with the transmission Who has seen it , explained why this happened, a foolish gesture born of deep desire for revenge: " Matthias I took off the twins to hurt me " . A thought, to Irina, reiterated once again in recent days, during an interview with the newspaper Le Matin .
The hopes that the children are alive grow weaker day by day, but the desire to seek them, wherever they are, does not abandon the heart of their mother, who continues to make appeals, so that investigators do not neglect the case.
Do not know if her children were killed by the father or those entrusted to someone you trust deeply, remain in a stalemate as they are now investigating, living with an empty heart with love, here are the days of Irina Transparencies, long days of fear and hope.
To make sure that you'll come back to Alessia and Livia, the Swiss twins whose faces are etched in the minds and hearts of all of us, the mother returns to talk about them, remembering how sweet and obedient they were, as directed his thought also to Matthias Schepp, the man with whom he was tied up in early 2009, when between them began the period of crisis .
In his recent interview with French newspaper Le Matin , Irina once more underlines the importance not to abandon the search.

Alessia and Liva: saliva into the trunk of the father
Saliva traces belonging to one of two girls abducted last January 30 in Switzerland have been discovered in the trunk of their father.
..... "A very small amount of substance was found on the carpet at the bottom of the trunk of the car," said Jean-Christophe Sauterel Saturday, spokesman for the Vaud police, quoted by the Ansa agency. The press officer of the Vaud cantonal police, however, qualified this finding, saying it was "very difficult to draw conclusions." The police do not know if this is a direct contamination or not a particular object such as a teddy bear. Jean-Christophe Sauterel said that investigators now focusing on "some twelve hours the father spent near Montelimar (Drôme) on the night of Sunday to Monday and time on the boat and Corsica", providing not hold no factor "determining" at this stage of investigations.

Schepp twins spotted with two Roma in bathing
While you are awaiting results of toxicology tests on traces of saliva, the two twins and Livia Alessia Schepp , found inside the trunk of the car the father of two girls, Matthias Schepp , a new witness could bring the case to a turning point. Several were the sightings in recent months, from January 30 last year, when the twins were abducted by her father who ended his mad dash from Switzerland to Italy, this time, the two girls were spotted in the Molise region, near Termoli . It seems that, according to several testimonies from some swimmers, the twins were in the company of two Roma: to recognize initially was a girl who works at the plant seaside "The Oasis" Live in Rio, and who later other people had noticed the incredible similarity between the two girls and the twins Schepp . The Police, arrived on site, are investigating and have asked anyone who had noticed the presence of small with the two Roma.
