Police believe they'll find Kiesha, but admit breakthrough is some time away
POLICE say they will not give up the four-month-long search for six-year-old Kiesha Abrahams.
The officer in charge of the investigation into the mystery disappearance of the Sydney girl admits they are no closer to a breakthrough - but believes the case ultimately will be solved.
"Somebody knows something. She just didn't vanish for no reason. Somebody has got to know," Det-Insp Russell Oxford said.
This week marks four months since Kiesha was reported missing from her Mount Druitt home in western Sydney, an incident that sparked massive speculation about what might have happened to the little girl.
Kiesha was reported missing by her mother, Kristi, who said she last saw her when she tucked her into bed on Saturday, July 31.
Police say the last time Kiesha was seen by anyone outside her immediate family was almost three weeks earlier at a birthday party.

Psychic tip on missing Kiesha Abrahams leads to water
ON the muddy bank of a western Sydney dam, homicide detectives watch the water drain, their hopes rising as the level falls.
Four months into their search for missing child Kiesha Abrahams, they are joined at the scene by uniformed police and specialist divers.
Not at the potential crime scene itself but not too far away at her home, clutching a piece of Kiesha's clothing, was the woman who had led them there - high-profile Sydney psychic Debbie Malone.
With every clue and lead run cold, homicide investigators took the extraordinary step of enlisting Ms Malone's help to find the girl's body.
"I didn't go to the police. They came to me," Ms Malone said.
At Ms Malone's insistence, a dam near Penrith she believed may have been the dumping ground for the six-year-old's body was drained this week.

Police to tell coroner Kiesha is dead: report
Detectives will tell a coroner they believe missing Sydney girl Kiesha Abrahams is dead.
The six-year-old was reported missing from her Mt Druitt home exactly six months ago and police are treating her disappearance as a murder.
They refuse to rule out the possibility that she was either abducted from her bedroom at night or wandered into the hands of a stranger, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Detective Inspector Russell Oxford, who is heading the investigation, said notifying the coroner is "a hard call to have to make" but comes after six months of exhaustive inquiries, he said.

Police say tragic Kiesha is dead
IT is the conclusion police hoped they would never have to reach.
Six months after six-year-old Kiesha Abrahams disappeared, officers will tell the coroner the missing western Sydney schoolgirl is dead.
Police had refused to rule out the possibility Kiesha was abducted from her Mt Druitt home during the night, or that she wandered into the hands of the wrong person.
Now homicide detectives said they were treating her disappearance as a murder.

We haven't given up on Kiesha, say police
Police deny they have entirely given up hope that missing Sydney girl Kiesha Abrahams will be found alive.
News Ltd reported today that police were preparing to tell the coroner they believe the six-year-old was murdered and that they have ruled out all other theories in relation to her disappearance.
Kiesha was reported missing from her Mount Druitt home in Sydney's west six months ago on Tuesday.
Advertisement: Story continues below However, police say they are still keeping an open mind about Kiesha's disappearance.
Detective Inspector Russell Oxford, who is heading the investigation, said reporting the matter to the coroner was a routine matter after six months and did not mean police had closed off their inquiries.
But he said police may report the disappearance as a suspected death.
"We're now six months into the investigation and of course, with a little six-year-old child, you've always got to fear the worst," he told Fairfax Radio.
"We certainly entertain some hope that she might still be alive, although we'd have to consider it very, very remote."

Police 'have not given up hope' on Kiesha
Police have rejected a newspaper’s claims that they have given up hope of finding missing Sydney girl Kiesha Abrahams alive.
The head of the investigation, Detective Inspector Russell Oxford, said the Daily Telegraph's claims that police have ruled out all theories by murder were false
"We certainly haven't given up, and we're very optimistic and we've always been confident along the way that we'll find something about what's happened to Kiesha," he said.
"As it stands, it's now six months and we've put a lot of effort into it, we're not going to stop until we find some answers."
"So by merely reporting the matter to the coroner, we certainly haven't closed down off all of our avenues of inquiry."
The Daily Telegraph reported on Tuesday that police would tell the coroner they believed Kiesha Abrahams was murdered.
Det Insp Oxford said police had not ruled out all theories, but were getting to the point where they saw the disappearance as a suspected death.

Where is Kiesha Abrahams?
SIX months may have passed, but the search for missing Mt Druitt girl Kiesha Abrahams continues in earnest.
Speaking to the Mt Druitt St Marys Standard this week, the officer in charge of the investigation, Det-Insp Russell Oxford, said homicide squad detectives are still based at Mt Druitt police station and are ``hitting the streets’’ every day in an effort to either locate the missing six-year-old or determine her fate.
He said investigators are still treating a number of people as suspects but added that police were still hopeful that somebody would offer up some new information on the young girl’s whereabouts.
``Despite recent media reports saying we’re slowing up our search efforts, both myself and my detectives are more focused than ever on locating Kiesha or determining what has happened to her,’’ Det-Insp Oxford said.

Kiesha Abrahams mystery coming to screen
AS a child growing up in an Iraqi family in Australia, Saad Adam never thought filmmaking would be his calling.
But fast forward 20 years and the amateur Plumpton filmmaker is a much talked-about new talent in the movie world following the success of his film The Lives of Mt Druitt Youth.
Now he plans to launch a documentary about the disappearance of six-year-old Mt Druitt girl Kiesha Abrahams, who has been missing since July, 2010.
``I live close to her and every day I pass her house,’’ Adam explained of his interest in the story.
``She needs to be found and I will do as much as I can to help. Documentary-making is a passion, but I’m doing this for a cause.
``The approach I want to take with my filmmaking is to help people. I can’t help in any other way but I can help make a film.’‘
The documentary titled The Disappearance of Kiesha Abrahams will cover all the key events, in chronological order, starting from her disappearance.
Adam admits that there will be critics and people who feel it is too soon to adapt Kiesha’s story into a film. However, he is undeterred because of the amount of support he has received.

Jogging memories on Kiesha Abrahams through film
SAAD Adam remembers the day Kiesha Abrahams went missing and said like many others he thought the ordeal would be over within a few hours.
``I thought she’d be returned to her family and that would be the end of it,’’ he said.
But almost eight months later, the whereabouts of the six-year-old remains a mystery. Like the Lindy Chamberlain case 30 years ago, many people have come forward with strong accusations of what they think happened to Kiesha.
Some hold hopes that the little girl is still alive.
``This case is really heartbreaking and emotionally I know as I’m piecing it all together, I will cry,’’ the 24-year-old film maker said.
``Every day I’m getting 30 messages on Facebook and trawling through them consumes you.
``In my heart, this project is something I have to do.’‘
Mr Adam said if he didn’t have majority support behind him he wouldn’t go ahead with the project, but he said he had been overwhelmed with well-wishers.

Should a rose garden replace Kiesha Abraham's toy memorial?
A SEA of colourful toys, candles and flowers once covered the front of missing Mt Druitt girl Kiesha Abrahams’ home on Woodstock Ave.
But, eight months since her disappearance, most of the tributes have been cleared and the remaining items are only a fragment of the grand community shrine that once existed.
Ahead of Kiesha’s seventh birthday on April 22, some residents want to install a living memorial in the form of a flower garden in place of weathering teddy bears and letters.
Dharruk resident Kerrie Robins has followed Kiesha’s story since the beginning. She feels that something eye-catching should be planted in her memory.
``I’ve thought about it for a long time and every time I drive by her house. One day I just thought how long have those arrangements been there?’’ she asked.
``Some of the toys look sad and worn. It’s time they went and something nice put in their place.
``Something that lives and thrives for her.’‘

Re: KIESHA (ABRAHAMS) WEIPPEART - Aged 6 years - Sydney (Australia)
There was no evidence of posters in Sydney for Keisha upon research. In fact this is a huge issue, locating posters of missing kids anywhere is very very rare ! Maybe it is a protection thing but I only ever see adult or late teen ones. I thought about the issue of missing kids recently on travels and the overwhelming world silence !!!
