Search for missing teenager in Bantry

A search operation is under way in West Cork for a missing 15-year-old boy.

The alarm was raised last night when the teenager failed to return home.

The 15-year-old from Bantry town was first reported missing late last night.


Since first light, gardaí, together with the Coast Guard and inshore rescue services, have been searching the town's foreshore and close to the Abbey graveyard.

A Coast Guard helicopter was also dispatched earlier this morning to carry out a wider search of the coastline.

Investigating gardaí at Bantry say there is nothing to indicate that anything has happened to the youngster, but he is now missing over 12 hours and the search will continue.
