Baby girl feared abducted from crib in Kansas City

Police searched for a 10-month old girl feared abducted from her bedroom in Kansas City on Tuesday but canceled an Amber Alert issued earlier in the day.

Lisa Irwin was discovered missing from her crib in her bedroom at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, triggering the alert and an intense foot search in wooded areas near her home involving 100 local and state law officers and the FBI.

Police said it appeared someone had entered and left through a bedroom window and evidence suggested an abduction.

Parents not suspects in baby's disappearance‎

A desperate search is under way now in Missouri for a baby taken from her Kansas City home.

Ten-month-old Lisa Irwin was last seen late Monday night, sleeping in her crib.

Police believe she was abducted, however, they say they don't have many leads.

"The only thing we know absolutely is there should have been a 10-month-old in that house and there isn't and we're doing everything we can to find that child," Capt. Steve Young said.

Police said the little girl's parents are cooperating with them and are not considered suspects.

Mom of missing Mo. girl: 'We just want our baby back'

The parents of a missing 10-month-old Kansas City girl begged that she be dropped off someplace safe, no questions asked, prompting the mother to plead: "We just want our baby back."

The parents, Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin, spoke to the media for the first time Wednesday afternoon, almost two days after their child, Lisa, disappeared from her crib.

The couple made a tearful plea, urging people to come forward with information about their child and took no questions from reporters.

"Anything, even the smallest bit of information could lead to her return," the father said.

Lisa Irwin was last seen around 10:30 p.m. Monday when her mother put her to bed. Her father, an electrician, discovered Lisa missing when he got home around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday from a late-night shift at work, police said.

'Please drop her off anywhere': Tearful parents plead for return of little Lisa after toddler was 'snatched from her crib'
Lisa Irwin last seen on Monday in Kansas City, Missouri
Huge search involving 100 police, FBI and canine units
Now investigators are combing surrounding areas

The parents of the missing 10-month-old Kansas City girl, Lisa Irwin, who went missing on Monday night have made a tearful plea to her abductor to drop her 'somewhere safe so she can come home'.
Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley spoke during a brief news conference held at a makeshift police command centre half a mile from their home appealing to the public to call police with any information.
Speaking to the media for the first time since her daughter Lisa was snatched from her crib by an intruder, Bradley clutching a purple Barney doll, presumably belonging to her daughter, tearfully begged for child’s return saying: 'We just want our baby back.'

Frustration Grows As On-Going Search Turns Up No Sign Of Missing Girl

FBI search dogs scoured the Kansas City home where a 10-month-old girl was last seen in her crib. Law officers canvassed nearby woods, walking shoulder-to-shoulder looking for clues.

Her parents tearfully begged for whoever took their daughter to leave her somewhere, anywhere, safe.

But none of it has produced solid leads for frustrated investigators, who are pushing into their third full day of searching for Lisa Irwin.

About 300 law officers have used helicopters, all-terrain vehicles and door-to-door interviews to look for the baby since she disappeared sometime late Monday or early Tuesday.

Police, FBI, Return to Irwin Home in Search of Baby Lisa

Police and FBI returned to the Irwin home for the third day in search of missing 10-month-old Lisa Irwin. Police plan to search in areas they've already search, but what kind of evidence they're looking for is still unclear.

Baby Lisa, missing since early Tuesday morning, captured the nation's attention as her parents addressed the national media on Thursday morning. Jeremy Irwin and Debbie Bradley appeared exhausted. Through tears Debbie spoke about her missing daughter and pleaded for her safe return.

For the first time, the media learned from the parents that three cell phones were also missing from the home, however, police would not comment on this information. The parents also said the window that appeared tampered with, first believed to be Lisa's bedroom window, is actually a window in the family's computer room. FBI revisited the home on Wednesday and concentrated their efforts around the window, but investigators are not releasing any information as to what, if any, evidence was found.

Lisa Irwin's mother says police accused her in infant's disappearance

The parents of Lisa Irwin appeared this morning on national news shows and said they were frustrated with the tactics of Kansas City police investigators.

Local police representatives, meanwhile, insisted Friday that the search continues for the missing 10-month-old girl despite the parents’ decision to stop talking with police.

“Our main focus is finding Lisa Irwin, and we hope to continue the cooperative communication that we have had with the parents,” said Sgt. Stacey Graves, a Kansas City police spokeswoman.

Missing Baby Lisa: Teen Questioned as Police Look Into California Tip

Authorities are looking into two new leads Saturday in the case of a missing 10-month-old Missouri baby.

Lisa Irwin has been missing from her Kansas City home since Monday night.

On Friday, a teenage neighbor of Lisa's parents was questioned by investigators and forensic experts took a DNA sample, a source told ABC News. That neighbor was apparently at the home the day Lisa vanished and also knew the access code to the family's garage.

However, police said they still have no suspects.

Investigators are also looking into reports from the west coast, where a couple was seen with a small child fitting Lisa's description, relative Mike Lerette told ABC affiliate KMBC-TV.

"They're pursuing surveillance tape on a couple with the baby in California," said Lerette.

Statistics suggest baby unlikely taken by stranger

Police say the parents of a missing 10-month-old Kansas City girl are meeting with detectives, two days after investigators said the couple had stopped cooperating. Police spokesman Capt. Steve Young says the parents of Lisa Irwin sat down with investigators Saturday afternoon. He declined to say what was discussed. The couple reported their daughter missing Tuesday, saying she was snatched from her crib sometime overnight.

Communication between the girl's parents and police became strained late Thursday, when police said the parents had stopped cooperating.

The parents insisted they'd never stopped, but that they simply needed a break from incessant police questioning.

FBI searches Kansas landfill for missing baby

FBI agents scoured a Kansas landfill for the second time this week as the search for a missing 10-month-old Missouri girl entered its fourth day - and just hours after the child's mother said police accused her of being involved.

Agents and Kansas City police spent about two hours Friday at the Deffenbaugh Industries landfill in the suburb of Shawnee, FBI spokeswoman Bridget Patton said. She wouldn't discuss details but confirmed the activity was related to the search for Lisa Irwin, whose parents said was snatched from her crib in the middle of the night.

Patton said it was the second time the FBI had been at the landfill, which investigators also searched Tuesday - the same day the baby was reported missing - and it wasn't uncommon to search an area several times. Kansas City police spokesman Steve Young said Saturday the search "didn't lead to anything" and "the only thing that motivated that search was brainstorming of `What haven't we done yet?"'

Police said agents also went back to the family's home and used metal detectors to search the yard.

Lisa's mother, Deborah Bradley, said in an interview with The Associated Press earlier Thursday that police told her she failed a lie detector test and accused her of being involved in her baby's disappearance.

Bradley said police never showed her the test results and she denied knowing anything about what happened to her daughter. She and Lisa's father, Jeremy Irwin, said their daughter was abducted sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

Reward set up in missing baby case

The parents of a missing 10-month-old Kansas City girl are setting up a reward, hoping it could help lead to information in the case.

A family spokesman said Saturday that Lisa Irwin’s parents are working to establish a trust fund.

Spokesman Mike Lerette also says Lisa’s parents will be giving fewer media interviews, because they want full attention on finding their daughter.

The couple reported Lisa missing Tuesday, saying she’d been snatched from her crib overnight.

On Saturday, police said they had telephone conversations with the parents but had not met with them in person. Police said Thursday that they couple had stopped co-operating with investigators, but the couple said they only needed a break from incessant police questioning.

Police have no named suspects or solid leads in the case.

Statistics Show Missouri Baby Unlikely to Be Taken by Stranger, as Authorities Probe Incident

Decades of statistics on infant abductions in the U.S. suggest one of the least likely scenarios in this week's disappearance of a Kansas City baby is that a stranger broke into her home and quietly snatched her from her crib.

But the numbers also lead national experts to believe that if 10-month-old Lisa Irwin were taken by an intruder in the middle of the night, as her parents told investigators, she is likely still alive.

Baby Lisa's mother is 'still married to another man despite claims she is engaged to father of missing child'

The mother of missing Lisa Irwin is still married to another man, despite claiming she is engaged to the father of the 10-month old baby, it has been revealed.
Kansas City parents Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin have talked about their engagement and wedding plans in interviews since their baby disappeared in Missouri on Monday.
But now the family of the father of her six-year-old son Michael have claimed that she is still married to their son.

Bradley and her husband Sean Bradley separated four years ago, but never got divorced, they say.
The family of Mr Bradley, who is currently away serving in the Army, said that their daughter-in-law was a good person who they do not think would be capable of harming a child.

Police re-enact baby's possible kidnapping
Detectives with the help of FBI agents, re-enacted a possible break-in to the house of Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley, parents of a missing 10-month old baby.

Investigators in the case of missing 10-month-old Lisa Irwin said they re-created a possible kidnapping scenario at her parents' home in Kansas City, Mo.

Detectives and FBI agents re-staged a break-in Sunday, climbing through a window to gain access to the home of Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley, ABC News reported Monday.

Lisa disappeared Oct. 3,

Investigators broke in to test the story told by the infant's parents -- that a kidnapper entered their home and took her while Irwin was at work and Bradley slept.

In the scenario re-created by investigators, the intruder could have entered through a window, walked through the kitchen and a doorway and toward the nursery.

Police have been suspicious of the parents' story, ABC News said.

Lisa Irwin missing: Cop gets stuck in window during kidnap re-enactment of Baby Lisa kidnapping - casting new doubt on parents' story

A police re-enactment in the Baby Lisa case today raised scepticism about her parents’ claims that the child was plucked from her crib by an unknown abductor in the middle of the night.
The operation proved difficult for two officers acting as a potential kidnapper, as each had difficulty getting into the Kansas City, Missouri house and needed help from other investigators.
One officer got his legs caught in the window after it suddenly slammed closed while he was climbing in.

Mom seen on video buying wine with unidentified man hours before baby vanished

LISA IRWIN 10 Months - Kansas City Missouri (USA) - 04/10/11 Lisa10

On Tuesday, the manager of Festival Foods in Kansas City confirmed police requested surveillance video from his store in the case of missing baby Lisa Irwin who vanished one week ago today.

Earlier Fox 4 News reports indicated Lisa's mother, Deborah "Debbi" Bradley was seen on video at the store buying a box of wine, paper plates, and napkins. During a call with the store manager Tuesday, who prefers not to be named, he said Debbi was seen on surveillance purchasing the wine but not the other items previously reported.

He said, "I was initially misinformed. When I spoke with Fox 4 News the information I had was third hand. I hadn't seen the video yet.

"I've seen the video and the baby's mother [Deborah Bradley] was seen with an unidentified man buying a box of wine. She did not buy paper plates or napkins," the store manager said.

Asked if Debbie purchased other items he said, "Yes, she purchased miscellaneous other items," but did not elaborate on what those items were.

Private investigator joins search for Lisa Irwin

A nationally known private investigator is now working with Lisa Irwin’s family to find the missing infant, who disappeared more than a week ago.

“Wild Bill” Stanton, a former New York policeman who has served as an ABC News and NBC News security consultant, told reporters that he’ll be conducting an independent investigation, but added that he hopes to meet with police.

“I’m here to seek the truth,” Stanton told reporters late Tuesday. “And wherever the truth leads, that’s where I’m going to go.”

Kansas City police will welcome any tips or information that Stanton can provide, but he won’t have access to the case file or any sensitive information in the case, a department spokeswoman said.

Stanton said his focus is on finding the little girl.

KC police launch new search of Northland woods for missing baby

A team of more than a dozen police investigators, police dogs and officers on all-terrain vehicles are searching a wooded area near 36th Street and North Brighton Avenue this afternoon looking for evidence in the disappearance of 11-month-old Lisa Irwin.

Capt. Mark Folsom said that police didn’t receive a tip about the area but are searching it because the large tract had not been checked previously. It is about a half mile east of Lisa’s home in the 3600 block of North Lister Avenue.

At about 2 p.m., a group of canine officers came out of the woods, reviewed a map. They appeared to discuss an area they had just completed searching.

Earlier, an officer on an ATV emerged from the area covered in leaves and other debris. He declined to comment on what they were looking for and whether they found anything.

Police said they are continuing to follow tips and leads but reported no new developments today.

Lisa Irwin is still missing

The Kansas City Police Department appears no closer to knowing what happened to a missing Northland baby than it did more than a week ago when 10-month-old Lisa Irwin disappeared.

Despite the relentless primetime coverage of the case, Sgt. Stacey Graves, a spokeswoman for the department, said this week there was nothing new to report. She said at last count they had received more than 200 tips.
The cherubic baby with wisps of blond hair and big blue eyes mysteriously disappeared from her home near Lister Avenue and 37th Street. Her father, Jeremy Irwin, discovered the baby missing from her crib about 4 a.m. Oct. 4 when he returned home from work.
Irwin, along with the baby’s sobbing mother, Deborah Bradley, have appeared on national talk shows, local television stations and in newspaper stories pleading for the return of their daughter. Police said they have no suspects in the case.
While the abduction of an infant is rare, Graves said it is a good idea for parents to have recent photographs or videos of their children.
“If your child is ever taken by anyone, call 911 immediately,” Graves said.

Deborah Bradley Feared Jeremy Would Leave Her, Planned Lisa Irwin Kidnapping - Analysis

Deborah Bradley Continues to be the main "suspect" in the search for missing 10-month-old baby Lisa Irwin, though police have not named her as an official suspect in the case, and there are arrows beginning to point down a certain path - a possible explanation for what happened to missing baby Lisa Irwin.

First, a rough summary of the facts 8 days into the disappearance of Lisa: Reports are continuing to demonstrate the inconsistencies in Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin's story to police, in which they insist their 10-month-old baby daughter Lisa Irwin was kidnapped from her crib in the middle of the night.

To sum it up, Jeremy was at work the evening of baby Lisa's disappearance. He is not usually away from the house at night. Apparently, Deborah put a coughing baby Lisa to bed around 10:30 after changing her clothes (she was changed into an outfit, not pajamas). Though Lisa was sick with a cold or virus, Deborah slept in her own room with one of her two sons and the door shut. She also left the 'computer room' window open - and doesn't remember if she locked the door. Typically a concerned mother of three locks the door when the husband is away. Deborah says she had a baby monitor on all night, but awoke to Lisa missing from her room - and police say there are no signs of forced entry.

Apparently, the intruder also happened to steal all the cell phones in the home, which is why the parents didn't call 911 right away - even though Jeremy had a working phone he used for work. He did eventually use that phone to call for help.

New Search Held In Baby Lisa Case
Consultant Seen With Police At Baby's Grandparents' Home

Kansas City police said they were searching a wooded area near Northeast 34th Street and North Brighton Avenue on Wednesday in the effort to find 11-month-old Lisa Irwin but said the visit to this location was an attempt to be thorough and not the result of a specific tip.
Police brought dogs and all-terrain vehicles to the area as part of the search for the baby, now in its ninth day. Irwin was discovered missing from her crib at her home on North Lister Avenue on the morning of Oct. 4.
People who live in the area said they've seen this before.
"Where is the baby? Seriously, where is the baby? That's what makes you so sad and makes you have that feeling in your stomach the more time that goes by that the outcome is not going to be good," said neighbor Christy Mormino.
She said on the first day of the disappearance, officers went door to door through her neighborhood, asking questions. Tuesday was trash day in the neighborhood and police looked through trash bins, too.

Day 10: Police ask questions about handyman in search for Lisa

Day 10 of the Lisa Irwin investigation has police looking for a homeless man seen in the Northland neighborhood just two days before the 11 month old went missing.

Investigators have interviewed a barkeep about a homeless man who labors as a handyman near the missing infant's home.

Detectives also have knocked on neighbors' doors asking residents about a man known as "Jersey." He frequents a bar known as One-Eyed Jacks.

Police have shown residents a photo of the man who is known to ride his bike in Lisa Irwin's neighborhood. He is apparently homeless and lived in a vacant home that was searched and later demolished on Tuesday.

Police and firefighters searched a well underneath a deck at the vacant home, but investigators concluded that the 40-foot well was empty except for dirty, murky water.

The bar owner tells KCTV5 that Jersey was kicked out due to intoxication on Oct. 1. Lisa Irwin's family says they last saw the 11-month-old infant around 10:30 p.m. Oct. 3.

The questions about the handyman came as police dogs and officers on all-terrain vehicles searched Wednesday a wooded area in the Northland as part of the search for a missing baby.
