Levi's Call issued for 4 missing children

Forest Park police continued Wednesday to search for four missing children. Police said the children's father, who does not have custody of them, took the children and is on the run.
Police questioned neighbors late Tuesday afternoon to try to find the children and 36-year-old Francisco Madrigal.
Investigators said the four children range in age from 6 to 12 years old.
Authorities issued a Levi’s Call, meaning they believe the children are in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
Channel 2’s Craig Lucie spoke with the children’s aunt, Madie Rivera, who said the children and their mother, Miriam Rivera, were staying with her at her apartment after Miriam Rivera and Madrigal got into a fight over the weekend.
“The dad came back, and he took the kids from there,” Madie Rivera said.
Police said the last place Madrigal was seen was the Willow Park Apartments where he shared an apartment with Miriam Rivera.
Detectives said domestic issues between the couple sparked the kidnapping.

Search Continues for Missing Children, Father

The search continues for four young children on Wednesday, believed to have been kidnapped by their father.

Authorities say leads are coming in from all over the country as to the possible whereabouts of Francisco Madrigal.

Worried family members awaited any word on four children believed to have been kidnapped from an apartment complex in Forest Park.

Amber Alert: 4 children missing from GA, police say they're in 'extreme danger

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has issued an Amber Alert (Levi’s Call) for four children believed to have been abducted by their father following an argument with their mother Monday evening.

Police believe the children are in extreme danger because of a series of phone calls Tuesday morning from the children’s father, Francisco Madrigal. The children’s aunt, Madai Rivera, said Francisco threatened to kill the mother of the children.

The children have been identified by the Forest Park Police as Jose Javier Madrigal, 12; Francisco Benjamin Madrigal, 10; Michael Madrigal, 9; and Geneicey Madrigal, 6.

The Forest Park Police issued a news release Tuesday saying that “recent domestic-related issues” between the children’s parents led to what investigators described as a “kidnapping.”

When police arrived at Rivera’s home Monday evening she told them her ex-boyfriend had taken her four children without her consent.

Father of four missing kids charged with kidnapping

A Forest Park man who allegedly abducted his four children from their mother's apartment has been formally charged with kidnapping, police confirmed Thursday.

The whereabouts of Francisco Madrigal, 36, and the children are still not known. He was last seen shortly after 8 p.m. Monday leaving his ex-girlfriend's Forest Park apartment with their three sons and daughter, ages 6 to 12. Miriam Rivera, the mother of the missing kids, said he took them without her consent.

Forest Park police spokesman Maj. Chris Matson said calls have come in from several states since the Levi's Call alert was issued Tuesday.

"It's a good possibility" Madrigal left the state, he said. "We're tracking down several leads. Unfortunately, many of those leads end up conflicting."

Elsa Madrigal, the suspect's sister, told reporters Tuesday her nephews and niece are in no danger but authorities disagree. Matson said Francisco Madrigal has exhibited "violent behavior" in the past, including one incident three years ago involving his sister's two small children -- the same sister who's defending him now, Matson said.

According to police, Madrigal threw a brick through his sister's front door, sending shards of glass onto the floor that cut the feet of her children, ages 2 and 1. He plead guilty to cruelty to children and disorderly conduct and was ordered to complete an anger management class, Matson said.

"Any time you're dealing with a domestic situation like this you have to assume the children are in danger," he said.

Madrigal, who also faces charges of interference with custody, has made contact with his ex-girlfriend since Monday, Matson said, but he did not disclose their whereabouts. Family members said he could be headed to Texas, Indiana, Tennessee or Michigan.

Still no sign of 4 missing kids

It's been four days since four children and their father disappeared from their Clayton County apartment, and police aren't giving up the search.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued a Levi's Call for 12-year-old Jose Javier Madrigal, 10-year-old Francisco Benjamin Madrigal, 9-year-old Michael Allen Madrigal and 6-year-old Geneicey Madrigal on Tuesday.

They are believed to in the company of their father, 34-year-old Francisco Madrigal. They children were last seen at about 8:15 p.m Monday in the 1400 block of Rock Cut Road in Forest Park.

Forest Park Police Major Chris Matson said a recent domestic issue reportedly sparked the kidnapping.

Police said Francisco has shown some violent behavior in the past, and as a result, the children are considered to be in danger.

11Alive's Blayne Alexander spoke with the children's mother, Miriam Rivera, on Wednesday.

Rivera said she talked to one of her kids by phone on Tuesday and believes they are OK.

However, when asked if she thought their father would ever harm them, Rivera said, "I don't know. Maybe."

She and Madrigal never married.

Police: Forest Park children kidnapped by father return home‎

The Forest Park Police Department announced the four children taken from their Forest Park home on September 12th by their father have now returned home.

Their father, Francisco Madrigal, fled with the children to Mexico where he left them in the care of their grandmother in San Luis Potosi.

An arrest warrant against Madrigal has been issued. His current whereabouts are unknown.

The family was able to make arrangements to have the children picked up in Mexico and transported back into the United States.

On Wednesday the 12th of October, all four of the children were reunited with their mother.
