An Amber Alert has been issued for a 2-year-old who was abducted by his father who does not have custody of him.

Police say Dewayne Wills took Dewayne Wills Jr. from a moving van in the area of 3304 Cornell St.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous firing shots at the vehicle during the abduction.

The suspect is described as a black male approximately 39-years-old with black hair brown eyes and last scene wearing a white v neck t-shirt and black cargo pants. He is 5'10" and 225 pounds.

Anyone who sees the missing child or the suspect is asked to call 1-877-AMBER-OH or 911.

An Amber Alert is issued Thursday morning for a 2-year-old boy who was taken by his noncustodial father.

The Montgomery County sheriff's office contacted the Franklin County sheriff's office with information on the alert at about 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

Dewayne Wills Jr., 2, was taken by his noncustodial father, Dewayne Wills, the sheriff said.

The elder Wills abducted the child from a van around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, the alert said.

The abduction happened in the 3300 block of Cornell Drive in Dayton, and the elder Wills fired rounds at the van during the incident, according to the alert.

The elder Wills should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police Negotiating With Father Who Took Son

Dayton police said they have been in contact with the father of 2-year-old DeWayne Wills Jr., and they are trying to negotiate the safe return of the child.

An Amber Alert was issued early Thursday morning after police said DeWayne Wills Sr. took the boy during a family dispute in Dayton.

Late Thursday afternoon the SWAT team set up a command center in a four-block area near Otterbein and Harold Avenues in Dayton.

Major Bob Chabali said, "We have received consistent information through people that DeWayne Wills Sr. is in the area."

Police said they told Wills that the safety of the child is their main concern. .

The incident started around 1 a.m. with a disturbance call from 307 Wexford Place. It moved to the intersection of Gettysburg and Necco Avenues when police said the suspect took his son from a van full of family members and fired four shots at the van before taking off. No one was injured.

"The very best thing he could possibly do is turn himself in," said Sgt. Larry Tolpin of the Dayton Police Department. "At the very least, we would ask that he take the child to a safe place, either a hospital a firehouse, a friend or family member's and leave the child there."

Cops: Father escapes with son in a blaze of bullets ‎

Police swarmed a roughly four block area Thursday afternoon after getting information that a missing child and his father, who reportedly took him, might be there.

Officers searched a number of homes looking for the child and his father.

Police issued an amber alert early Thursday morning for 2-year-old Dewayne Wills Jr., who officers said was taken by his father Dewayne Wills. At the time, Wills was armed with a handgun.

Wills reportedly told people inside the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church van to drop him off in the area of Cornell and Kipling drives after arguing with his child's mother. When he got out of the van, he grabbed his son and then started shooting at the van, which had his 1-year old daughter and other family members inside, as it drove away.

No one inside the van was struck by bullets. The van stopped a few blocks away on Gettysburg Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Officers said they spoke with Wills on the phone at some point after he took off. However, Wills would not disclose where he and his son are.

Child from Amber Alert safe in police custody, father arrested

A father accused of abducting his 2-year-old son was arrested late Thursday after a SWAT team and hostage negotiators got him to come out of a house on Otterbein Avenue/

The child was safe, according to police at the scene.

Police surrounded the house at 10:30 p.m., and began calling for Wills to come out.

Officials received information that led them to the believe that DeWayne Wills Sr., 39, was in the house, along with his son.

Wills is accused of taking his son, DeWayne Wills Jr., early Thursday morning prompting an Amber Alert.

Wills and his son - who he does not have legal custody of- disappeared after a disturbance at 307 Wexford Place, where Wills allegedly fired a gun into the air.

Wills left with relatives in a van belonging to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church but changed his mind and decided to leave the van en route.
