Infant reported missing from Knightsen‎

A mother reported her infant daughter missing from her bassinet in a community in eastern unincorporated Contra Costa County this morning, a sheriff's spokesman said.

Four-month-old Ramy Amadea Gallego was reported missing from her bedroom at a home in the 1500 block of Tule Lane in the community of Knightsen at 6:20 a.m., Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

Baby missing from bassinet in Knightsen‎

Authorities are searching for a 4-month-old girl reported missing this morning from a home in the eastern Contra Costa County town of Knightsen.

The reporting party told the county sheriff's office that the child, Ramy Amadea Gallego, was last seen at about 10 p.m. Saturday when she went to sleep in a bassinet at a residence on the 1500 block of Tule Lane.

At about 6 a.m. this morning, the mother checked on the baby and found her missing, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies responded and searched the home and the surrounding area. A helicopter and dogs were used, and authorities also sent a telephone notification to nearby residents.

The girl weighs 14 pounds, has dark hair and blue eyes, and was wearing a one-piece, zip-up outfit with pink, green and blue pastel colors.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (925) 646-2441.

CoCo Sheriff's Office Searching For Missing Infant‎

The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff kicked off a massive search Sunday morning for a 4-month-old girl, who reportedly disappeared from her home in the town of Knightsen.

Ramy Amadea Gallego was reported missing from to the Sheriff's office at about 6:20 a.m. Sunday. She was reportedly last seen at about 10 p.m. the previous night, when the baby went to sleep at her home on the 1500 block of Tule Ln. When Gallego's mother went to check on her at about 6 a.m. the following morning, the infant was not in her bassinet.

Deputy Sheriffs responded and conducted a search of the residence and surrounding area. The office also informed neighboring residences via telephone.

As of noon, the search had expanded to include an estimated 75 participants, a K-9 team and air support.

It was unclear whether or not the infant had been abducted, according to Jimmy Lee, director of public affairs for the sheriff's office

Bay Area Mother Discovers Infant Missing‎

A full scale search was underway Sunday in remote Contra Costa County for a missing infant.

The baby's mother called police at 6:20 a.m. Sunday when she went to the child's crib and found it empty.

The infant is just four months old. Her name is Ramy Amadea Gallego.

The home is in the small town of Knightsen on Tule Lane.

A four-month-old girl who disappeared from her parents' room last night as they slept inches away has been found safe by police.
Little Ramy Amadea Gallego, had last been seen in her bassinet at about 10pm on Saturday night, when she was put to sleep at her home in the eastern Contra Costa County town of Knightsen, California.
Although she was sleeping in the same room as parents Kristin and Rudy, her mother woke up early on Sunday morning to find her child had been taken.

Police immediately responded to the mother's call for help and after a thorough search of the surrounding area this morning found the baby safe in Southern California.

Baby reported missing found far from home‎

Authorities say a 4-month-old girl who was reported missing by her parents from their Contra Costa County home has been found safe in Southern California.
Contra Costa County Sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said sheriff's detectives have traveled to El Monte and recovered Ramy Amadea Gallego.

Investigators are still trying to determine how Gallego apparently disappeared from her bassinet at her parents' home in Knightsen sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The girl's mother told authorities she put her daughter to bed Saturday around 10 p.m. The girl was apparently gone when she checked on her around 6 a.m. the next morning.

Lee said three people are being interviewed regarding the girl's disappearance, which he would not immediately characterize as a kidnapping.

Father Says His Mother Took The Baby

A grandmother is being accused of taking her 4-month old granddaughter from a Knightsen home.

Rudy Gallego, father of the girl, said Monday that his mother went into his Tule Lane home and took his daughter, Ramy Gallego.

The child was found safe and sound in Southern California, deputies said. The child's mother drove down to Southern California and will fly home with the child.

Gallego said his mother had been to his home for Mother's Day, but the family didn't know she had come into the home the night the baby disappeared.

Gallego believed his mother did not intend to harm the child, but was suffering from a mental condition.

The girl's parents reported her missing just after 6 a.m. Sunday.

Baby found: Grandmother held for kidnapping missing Knightsen infant‎

The 4-month-old Delta baby that disappeared from her bassinette during the night this weekend was found this morning after she had traveled from her Northern California home in Knightsen all the way to El Monte in Southern California.

It is reported that 58-year-old Ericka Shirley Gallego snuck into the Contra Costa County home on Tule Lane of her son and daughter-in-law, Rudy and Kristen Gallego, as they slept. Grandma Gallego then took her granddaughter Ramy Amadea Gallego without their knowledge and called a cab to take them to a Southern California home.

Mom found her missing early Sunday morning and called police.

Bizarre abduction: Grandma charged with kidnapping 4-mo.-old Ramy Amadea Gallego

The infant who was reported missing from her bassinet Sunday morning is back in Contra Costa County with her family after Sheriff’s Deputies traveled to Southern California Monday morning to pick her up; her paternal grandmother has been arrested, charged in her abduction.

At around 8 a.m. Monday morning the El Monte Police Department in Southern California arrested the baby’s grandmother, Ericka Gallego, 58, on felony charges. She is being held on $150,000 bail, no court date has been set yet.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office announced Monday evening that Ericka Gallego has been charged with one count of kidnapping which carries a maximum penalty of 11 years in prison if she is found guilty.

Sheriff’s deputies got word that four-month-old Ramy Amadea Gallego was in Southern California. They, along with Ramy's parents Kristin and Rudy Gallego, traveled there Monday to retrieve the infant.

News10.net reported that parents and baby were reunited in El Monte, and that three people had been interviewed by police.

Friends and neighbors of the Gallego’s said they believed the baby was taken to Southern California by her grandmother who came into the parents’ bedroom in the middle of the night and removed her from her bassinet.

Contra Costa County Sheriff spokesman Jimmy Lee said, “Our detectives traveled to Southern California and have recovered the baby who is safe. She is with our detectives.”

Bizarre abduction

It was a bizarre abduction, to say the least. Before leaving her home in Southern California and coming to Northern California, Ericka Gallego told her roommate and friends that she had given birth to a baby girl. When she returned home with the baby her roommate became suspicious.

Jaime Portugal said Ericka is his roommate in El Monte. Ericka told people she was pregnant and had just held a baby shower, he said. Ericka told people the baby was 2 ½ weeks old.

Portugal became suspicious something was wrong when the baby looked too mature to be a newborn. “She wasn’t all there from the get-go,” he said. “She was always a little off her rocker.”

“It’s a good feeling to know the baby’s going back to her mother,” he said.
