Parents and police search for missing New Braunfels toddler‎

The search is on in New Braunfels for a missing child.

New Braunfels police responded to the 2600 block of Savannah Hill Circle around 9 p.m Friday night for missing 18-month-old Joshua Davis.

The toddler's parents told officers the child was last seen inside of their home about 20 minutes before they called police.

Authorities say the toddler may have wandered off. But the child's heartbroken father says that's just not the case. Josh Davis pleaded to the rest of the public for their help.

Davis says his front door was shut throughout the evening and suspects his son may have slipped out after one of his friends left. The father of two says his missing boy has asthma and desperately wants him back...no questions asked.

Joshua Davis: Toddler missing after walking away from home‎

Police, fire and emergency personnel, as well as volunteers are searching the New Braunfels, Texas area for a missing 18-month-old toddler.

Friday, around 8:00 p.m., it is believed Joshua Davis opened the front door of his home on the 2600 block of Savanna Hill Circle and walked away.

The police started with the inside of the home and then began searching outside. The home had a glass door that did not latch properly and they believe he may have left the house that way.

Overnight searches were conducted on the ground and in the air and a volunteer search party began at Klein Road Elementary School.

"The child appears to be very mobile, and the fear is that he may have just wandered off," New Braunfels Police Lt. Michael Penshorn said.

Day 3 of Search for Missing Boy - Now a Recovery Operation‎

For the 3rd straight day, New Braunfels Police and search teams from across the state are continuing the search for an 18-month old missing boy in the area off of Walnut and Klein Road, and now police officials say the search is transitioning from a Search and Rescue operation into a recovery operation.

Joshua Davis Jr. went missing Friday night a little after 8:30 after presumably wandering out of his home on Savannah Hill Circle and out into the freezing cold night.

Frigid weather darkens hope for missing Texas tot‎

Frigid cold and rugged terrain have dimmed hopes dramatically for an 18-month-old child missing for two nights from his family's home in the Texas Hill Country.

A police spokesman says the search for Joshua Davis of New Braunfels was switched to a "recovery effort" Sunday morning. New Braunfels police Lt. Michael Penshorn says that means "cadaver dog" crews have been brought in to assist the efforts to find the child.

Since two nights of temperatures as low as 20 degrees have passed, "if he was exposed in the wooded area around his family's home, there's little chance that he could have survived those conditions," Penshorn said.

Family of missing New Braunfels boy gets false sense of hope‎

The search and rescue has now become a search and recovery. Moments before a 4 p.m. news conference at New Braunfels Police headquarters Sunday, family and friends rushed into the building after they got word that the child was found.

That ended up being false hope. Police said the family found a posting on Facebook indicating the toddler had been found safe in a trailer in Comal County, about 10 miles away from the Davis family's home.

Police have no confirmation on this latest development and have called it a rumor. The child is still considered missing but just in case they did send a team out to the location to check it out, though after 36 hours and two evenings of sub-freezing temperatures, it's hard for an 18-month-old baby boy to survive.
