A young Romanian woman living in Dublin.

Gardai have made an appeal to news agencies and set up an incident investigation stopping traffic and talking to the public on Pearse St 1 week after disappearance of Mariaora.

* I know we only have a few Irish members but if know anyone who was in area on 6th January and spotted anything suspicious, please contact Gardai at Pearse St + 353 1 6669000

Fourth Arrest in Missing Teen Investigation

A fourth person has been arrested in the garda investigation into the disappearance of a Romanian teenager in Dublin last January.

Marioara Rostas (19) was last seen on Lombard Street East in the city centre on 6 January.

Marioara was wearing blue jeans, a white top, pink scarf and a long black jacket at the time of her disappearance.


Yesterday, a 29-year-old man and two women aged 30 and 56 were arrested in connection with the case.

A second man was arrested this afternoon and is being questioned at Pearse Street Garda Station.

Gardai believe Mariaora was murdered in the south of Dublin City for refusing to become a prostitute.

The promise of a hot meal lured this girl to her death

SHE arrived in Ireland, aged 19, on her first journey outside her native Romania and with barely a word of English. The only money she had was what she begged from strangers on the streets. Within three weeks, gardai suspect, she was lured into the car of a Dublin gangster on the promise of a McDonalds hamburger, abducted, raped and murdered. Her body has never been found.

Making emergency calls‎

........ but there is also an urgent need for an emergency interpreting service for people who don’t speak English. As the Garda currently have a contract with a telephone interpreting company, it is surprising that there was no attempt to use this service.

Last year a Romanian woman, Marioara Rostas, was abducted in Dublin. Her father wanted to report her missing but valuable time was lost while he looked for someone in his community who could speak English. He ended up going to the Four Courts the next morning to find an interpreter.

There are no updates available at this time.

Mariaora was 19 years old when she went missing.

She would be 22 years old now.
