Gardai have made an appeal to news agencies and set up an incident investigation stopping traffic and talking to the public on Pearse St 1 week after disappearance of Mariaora.

Fourth Arrest in Missing Teen Investigation

A fourth person has been arrested in the garda investigation into the disappearance of a Romanian teenager in Dublin last January.

Marioara Rostas (19) was last seen on Lombard Street East in the city centre on 6 January.

Marioara was wearing blue jeans, a white top, pink scarf and a long black jacket at the time of her disappearance.

Yesterday, a 29-year-old man and two women aged 30 and 56 were arrested in connection with the case.

A second man was arrested this afternoon and is being questioned at Pearse Street Garda Station.

The promise of a hot meal lured this girl to her death

........ but there is also an urgent need for an emergency interpreting service for people who don’t speak English. As the Garda currently have a contract with a telephone interpreting company, it is surprising that there was no attempt to use this service.

Last year a Romanian woman, Marioara Rostas, was abducted in Dublin. Her father wanted to report her missing but valuable time was lost while he looked for someone in his community who could speak English. He ended up going to the Four Courts the next morning to find an interpreter.

Forest combed in hunt for Roma teen missing since 2008‎

Gardai investigating the disappearance of a Romanian teenager four years ago have launched a search operation in a forested area in west Wicklow.

Officers fear that Marioara Rostas, who was 18 when she went missing on January 6, 2008, was abducted, murdered and her body dumped in a remote area.

As a result of extensive inquiries into her disappearance, gardai are focusing their search on the Kippure estate between Manor Kilbride and the Sally Gap in Wicklow.

A full-scale search operation was launched yesterday and officers said it could continue until at least tomorrow evening.

Ms Rostas, of Corballis West, Donabate, in north Dublin, was reported missing by her parents after her brother spotted her getting into a car at Lombard Street East, near Pearse Street, in Dublin's city centre.

Gardai believe she had been befriended by a Dublin criminal, who offered her food and shelter and then abducted her.

Inquiries indicated she was taken to a house rented from the HSE in the south inner-city, where she was held against her will.

Gardai continue to search for body at forestry land in Kippure
‎
A CONTINUING SEARCH for human remains at Kippure has so far uncovered no clues over the disappearance of a 19 year old Romanian girl who vanished two years ago.

Marioara Rostas was last seen begging at traffic lights in inner-city Dublin on January 2010 and it's believed she was murdered by a gangland criminal from Dublin's south inner city .

Ms Rostas, a member of the Roma community, had only been in Ireland for three weeks before she disappeared.

A garda helicopter and members of the Garda Technical Bureau have all been involved in the search which started on Wednesday and resumed on Monday after a break over the weekend.

The main focus of the search has concentrated on Coillte land close to the Kippure Estate and on the Manor Kilbride to Sally Gap road.

Gardaí discover bag during hunt for missing teenager

A bag containing what is believed to be human remains has been discovered by Gardaí, in relation to a search for a missing Romanian teenager.

The bag was uncovered during a dig on land near the Manor Kilbride area of the Wicklow Mountains, near Sally Gap.

Marioara Rostas, who was 18 when she went missing 6 January 2008, was last seen begging at traffic lights in Dublin city centre. It is feared that she was abducted, murdered and her body dumped.

Following a tip-off, a full scale search began on 11 January, with focus on the Kippure estate between Manor Kilbride and the Sally Gap in Wicklow.

A Garda spokesman has said it is too early to confirm whether the remains are human. The bag is understood to still be at the scene as forensic officers prepare to examine it and the site.

Postmortem may help Garda identify human remains

GARDAÍ ARE hoping a postmortem being carried out last night on the human remains discovered in the Wicklow mountains will enable them to identify the deceased.

While gardaí have not disclosed whether the remains are those of a male or female, they were located during a search for the body of missing Roma woman Marioara Rostas (19).

Ms Rostas was last seen begging at traffic lights in Dublin’s south inner city in January 2008.

The remains were uncovered yesterday in an isolated area close to the Kippure estate on the Sally Gap to Manor Kilbride road. The Garda search centred on a wooded area owned by Coillte, the State forestry company.

The brutal murder of teenager Marioara Rostas, whose body was uncovered in a shallow grave in the Wicklow Mountains, has shaken even veteran detectives, investigators have revealed.
A post-mortem examination - which is not yet fully complete - confirmed the 18-year-old Romanian died from a gunshot wound after vanishing from a central Dublin street just weeks after arriving in Ireland four years ago.

Chief Supt Michael O'Sullivan described it as the most heinous of crimes which shocked all the investigating officers and experienced search teams who found her partially decomposed body on Monday. "I can say she suffered an appalling death that is incomprehensible in a civilised society," he said.

Gardai said they have made a significant advance in their inquiry into the killing which led them to the makeshift grave in remote wilderness close to the Kippure estate and the Sally Gap. The remains were wrapped in a plastic bag.

A TWO-WEEK long search has uncovered human remains which Gardai expect to positively identify as Marioara Rostas.

The remains were unearthed on Monday at 11 a.m. in an isolated area close to the Kippure estate on the Sally Gap to Manor Kilbride road. The search concentrated on Coillte land after Gardai investigating the 18-year-old's disappearance received specific information regarding a possible burial site.

The last known sighting of Ms Rostas was in January 2008. Gardai believe that she was brought to a house by a well known Dublin criminal where she was assaulted before being killed. GARDAI BELIEVE the human remains unearthed on land along the Sally Gap to Manor Kilbride are those of missing teenager Marioara Rostas.

The remains were found buried in a bag on Monday morning during the 13th day of the search.

Ms Rostas, a member of the Roma community, had only been in Ireland for three weeks before her disappearance. The last known sighting of her was by her brother in January 2008 as she got into a car in Dublin city centre.

Gardaí have confirmed that a body found in the Wicklow mountains on Monday is Marioara Rostas, an 18-year-old Romanian teenager who disappeared in January 2008. Gardaí had been searching the area for 13 days before the discovery, following a tip-off to her whereabouts.

The murder has shaken even veteran Gardaí, one of whom has said that Marioara died an “appalling death.”

Chief Superintendent Michael O’Sullivan said that had shocked all the investigating officers and said that such an act was “incomprehensible in a civilised society.”

“I can say she suffered an appalling death that is incomprehensible in a civilised society,” he said.

“Marioara was a harmless, defenceless young woman, 18 years of age – she looked younger than that. She was in this country for about three weeks, she was abducted… brutalised and murdered for no apparent reason.”

UNSTABLE: Gangster in cells took dig news 'very badly'

THE chief suspect for murdering tragic teenager Marioara (Maria) Rostas is on suicide watch in the west Dublin jail where he is being held.

The dangerous suspect has been locked up since the summer in Cloverhill Prison where he is being held on remand on serious gang related charges.

Jail insiders say that he took the news that gardai had been searching a specific site for the 18-year-old's body which was located after a 13-day dig "very badly".

"He is a very unstable character at the best of times but he took the news very badly -- he had to be moved to another area of the prison.

"He is being closely monitored by prison officers -- he is on suicide watch," a source explained.

Isolated

The psycho south inner city gangster is understood to be isolated from some of the criminals he once trusted completely and there are concerns that he will take his own life.

It has emerged that Marioara Rostas was shot at least once in the head and her body was desecrated after she was murdered.

Thank you Twiggy for all the updates.

It has been a very harrowing week with the details of this case. On top of this, for some bizarre reason, tg can't quite speculate exactly why, Mariaora's body is in Ireland waiting to be repatriated home. It is going to cost 7,000 Euro and the Irish govt isn't paying it according to the Sunday World newspaper. Her family are here waiting. There is a fundraiser by the paper organized so I'm off to the bank to help in a little way. Apparently they are way off yet. I'm pretty sure for reasons as Gardai say themselves, Romany are treated as bottom of the pile. Oh the whole thing is so sad !!
