Government child database scrapped

A £224 million government database holding the records of all 11 million children in England, which was introduced after the death of Victoria Climbie in north London in 2000, has been scrapped.

ContactPoint was established by the Labour administration in the wake of the Victoria Climbie child abuse scandal to improve child protection.
