Officials fear missing girl fell into river

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday at approximately 4:50 p.m., the Richland County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a missing girl from a residence in northwest Richland County. The girl, Ivy Leinen, reportedly went for a walk and about 15 to 20 minutes later did not come back. She was with four of the family’s dogs, and when the dogs came back to the residence without her, the family started looking for her.

Girl missing near Poplar

Officials say the girl went for a walk with four of the family's dogs Sunday afternoon, but the dogs returned to the residence without her.

Searchers tracked the girl to an island in the river and part way across the ice-covered river to an open area. The tracks did not return from that spot, leading searchers to believe the girl may have fallen into the river, officials said Monday.

Search called off for missing girl

Sheriff Brad Baisch says he believes Ivy Leinen fell into the Missouri River and drowned while walking the family dogs near Poplar.
When the dogs returned to the house without the girl, her family started looking for her.

Tracking dogs found Leinen’s tracks across the icy on the river to an island and then to the main channel of the river, ending at an open spot in the ice.

Based on the dogs’ tracks around the water’s edge, Baisch says it appears Leinen fell into the water and the dogs ran back and forth along the edge of the ice unable to help her.

Baisch says the conditions are too dangerous to be on the ice searching for her body.

Anita, Ivy's mother (unconfirmed) posts on this forum under the name "DSTARAR".

I'm going to leave a link as I do not have permission to copy over any material from that forum!!

It makes heartbreaking reading!! There are updates via "Dstarar" on the search which I have not been able to find on any news site!!

There are 6 pages of posts on Ivy's thread!!! 19 April 2010 being Dstarar's last update on the search!!!

"Dstarar" has been posting on Help find the Missing again.

She says there is still no update on Ivy, searches are still on going but to date Ivy has not been found!

Last post by "Dstarar" was on 12 August 2010.
