Missing family's house may face foreclosure‎

With no signs of life for six months and a looming foreclosure, relatives of a missing family collected items last week from a home that was left in disarray when the family disappeared.
Blanche Aranda-Martelli grabbed finger paintings and toy dinosaurs to hold onto something tangible when she thinks of her missing grandchildren. Michael McStay took his brother's guitar, the one they bought together years ago.

San Clemente businessman Joseph McStay, 40, his wife, Summer, 43, and their two children, Gianni, 5, and Joseph, 3, have been missing since Feb. 4, just months after moving from a San Clemente beach bungalow to a house on a cul-de-sac in Fallbrook.
"Unfortunately we have to do these types of things," said Michael, who helped clean out his brother's home. "It's very final. I could see Blanche working with her eyes all watery. The stress has been horrible. There's been no word, there's been nothing."

One year ago today, a California family completely vanished. For the family members left behind, there are many questions, and almost no answers.

Joseph McStay, his wife Summer, and their two young sons, Joe Jr. and Gianni, have been missing since February 2010, and Joe’s brother Mike, says nothing makes any sense, and he refuses to stop looking for them.

Father Of Missing McStay Dad Speaks To 10 News‎
Joseph McStay And Family Missing Since February 2010

...... McStay's father Patrick, who has never spoken publicly before, opened up only to 10News reporter Itica Milanes.

"It's like part of my life is gone," said Patrick McStay. "It's just missing. It's just like you cut off my right arm... I miss them so much."

Four days after the McStays' disappearance, the family's abandoned SUV was found two blocks from the San Ysidro border crossing. Then, investigators found video at same the border crossing that showed a couple with two young kids walking into Mexico. While investigators believe it's the missing family, McStay said he does not.

"[I] don't believe [Joesph] would take them into Mexico," he said.
