Re: Discussing facts about Missing children with other children
Pam, teaching your daughter about 'stranger danger' should be done at the earliest possible agebut in a way not to scare her. We do deal with a lot od cases on our forum but the fact is that abuduction by a stranger is still very rare. The majority of missing children are abducted/harmed by either a relative or someone they have come in contact with. We need to make our children aware but not scare them. With regards to runaways, the majority do come home or are found in the early days. But in cases of teenagers, many of them simply do not want to come home for whatever the reason my be. Maybe they were unhappy at home or someone has brainwashed them into thinking they are better off with them.
Discuss these thingswith your daughter by all means, at a stage when you feel she is old enough to understand. But spare her the details of some of the more vile cases we have featured here. They are hard enough for us as adults to understand.
Pam, would you like to put this question to our members or keep it just for staff?
Please let me know.

To all members is good Tezza. Just trying to get my head around it to explain why Mummy spends so much time here etc. I know it is way ahead for us but just wondering how others deal with it would be good.
