TECIA HENRY - Aged 10 years - Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago)

Tecia, a pupil of the St Rose Girls' RC school disappeared on an errand to a mini-mart at John John, Port of Spain, last Saturday morning.

Tecia went missing on the 13th of June 2009.


She is one of 79 people reported missing and never found since 2006, according to police.

Residents in the area, which had been warring with a faction from Block 8 (Plaisance Terrace), rejoiced on Monday after news spread that Ricardo "Docs" McCarthy had been murdered.

McCarthy was one of five men who were taken into custody mere moments after Henry's body had been found. Police had to rescue McCarthy, the reputed leader of the Block 8 gang, from a mob of angry men.

He, along with the other men, was subsequently released but residents insisted they had information which linked them to the crime.

Both National Security Minister Martin Joseph and Acting Police Commissioner James Philbert had warned residents against taking the law into their own hands and pleaded with them to co-operate with law enforcement agencies.

Mc Carthy's bullet-riddled body was found off a track early Monday morning at Belle Vue Terrace, Long Circular, St James. Police believe he had been shot dead on Sunday night.

So, nobody has been officially charged with the death of Tecia Henry - and hopefully the authorities have managed to calm things down and stopped residents from taking the law into their own hands.

No news since August.... other than about the gang-warfare which broke out after Tecia's death.

Perhaps one day the authorities will identify who perpetrated this crime and Tecia can then rest in peace.

I will lock the thread and reopen it if there is progress in finding those responsible.
