New site in Drexel search‎

South Carolina law enforcement officials have identified a “location of interest” in the disappearance of Brittanee Drexel, a South Carolina news station reported this weekend.

WBTW-TV reported Saturday that police had pinpointed another location to search for the 17-year-old junior from Gates Chili High School. A specific location has not been released and investigators could not be reached Sunday night.

Detectives: Phone call not from Brittanee Drexel‎

Detectives say there's no truth to a claim that missing spring breaker Brittanee Drexel called her grandmother over the weekend.

Drexel's grandmother got a call from a restricted number two nights ago and heard muffled voices. The grandmother thought it was Brittanee. When detectives traced the call, it turned out it came from Drexel's mother Dawn. They say it was an unintentional "pocket" dial.

Missing Teen's Family Accepting Her Diploma

The family of Brittanee Drexel, a New York teen who vanished while on spring break in Myrtle Beach, S.C., last year, will be attending her high school graduation ceremony this week to accept a diploma on her behalf.

"They called last week to inform me that the school would honor my daughter with an honorary diploma," said Brittanee's mother, Dawn Drexel. "I miss my daughter and ache for her to come home."

High school honors missing teenager‎

Mytle Beach -- A New York teen who hasn't been seen since her disappearance last April will be honored at her high school graduation in Rochester, N.Y., according to a news release from the Community United Effort Center for Missing Persons.

Brittanee Drexel -- missing since April 25, 2009 -- would have been among those graduating today from Gates Chili High School.

Drexel's family will attend the graduation and accept the school's honor.

Police investigate failed Myrtle Beach abduction close to where Brittanee Drexel was last seen

Myrtle Beach Police are investigating an attempted abduction of a 20-year-old woman very close to where a Chili teenager was last seen alive.

Brittanee Drexel has been missing since April 2009.

Myrtle Beach Police say a van with two men inside tried to abduct a 20-year-old on Wednesday.

A sketch has been released of one of the suspects.

Authorities in South Carolina are investigating possible links between the attempted kidnapping of a young woman, the disappearance of a New York teen and an unsolved homicide.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that Timothy Shaun Taylor, 37, of McClellanville, S.C., turned himself in Wednesday, accused of trying to kidnap a woman in Myrtle Beach last week.

Mother of Brittanee Drexel appears on HLN‎

The mother of missing spring breaker Brittanee Drexel appeared on CNN's Headline News Tuesday night to discuss recent developments.

Dawn Drexel was a guest on the show "Issues with Jane Velez" and said she's hopeful the recent arrest of an attempted kidnapping suspect might help her daughter's case.

Last week, Myrtle Beach Police arrested Shaun Taylor and charged him with attempted kidnapping and first degree assault and battery.

Detectives say he's one of three men who tried to abduct a 20-year-old Tennessee woman from Ocean Boulevard on July 21.

The botched abduction happened near the BlueWater Resort -- the same hotel where Brittanee Drexel was last seen.

Police haven't confirmed a definite link, but the Drexel task force is also investigating the botched abduction.
