Ipswich man 'person of interest' in Daniel Morcombe case

AN ex-policeman says a man suspected of torturing and murdering school girl Leanne Holland is also a person of interest in the Daniel Morcombe case.

Former detective turned private investigator Graeme Crowley, who has written a book on the 1991 murder of Leanne , says the man whom he believes killed the 12-year-old girl is also a person of interest in the 2003 abduction of 13-year-old Daniel .

Mr Crowley has told media outlets he believes Graham Stuart Stafford was wrongly convicted of Leanne's murder in 1992.

Morcombe police file secrets to be revealed

Closely guarded details of the Daniel Morcombe case are about to be released to the state coroner for the first time.

Bruce and Denise Morcombe say police are in the final stages of compiling a report for the coroner, and expect it to be completed within weeks.

They are hopeful the report will result in a coronial inquest into Daniel’s disappearance, and suspected murder, being held by the end of 2010.

Daniel Morcombe case to go to State Coroner

A POLICE brief into the suspected abduction and murder of Sunshine Coast schoolboy Daniel Morcombe is expected to be presented to the State Coroner within weeks.

Parents Bruce and Denise Morcombe, who have pushed for a formal coronial inquiry into their son's disappearance almost six years ago, said this week a decision was getting closer.

Only after State Coroner Michael Barnes has read the police brief will any decision by made on a date and time for an inquest.

School snub kidnap boy's parents

VICTORIAN schools have snubbed a plea by the parents of an abducted schoolboy to hold a safety awareness day.

Denise and Bruce Morcombe wrote to every school in the state asking them to support a national day named after their son Daniel, suspected of being murdered after vanishing from a Sunshine Coast bus stop in 2003.

But so far, only one Victorian school has signed up for the October 30 event, leaving the Morcombes puzzled.
