AMBER ALERT issued for three brothers from Morenci, Michigan.
Police in Morenci, Michigan have issued an Amber Alert for three young brothers who are believed to be in extreme danger.
The boys' father, John Skelton, says he had plans to commit suicide, and didn't want the boys in the home at the time, so on Friday afternoon he sent them off with a woman he's been emailing back and forth for years now.
He told police her name was Joann Taylor. He said he met the woman and her husband a few years ago when they were stopped alongside the road with car trouble. After helping them, Skelton began emailing Joann.
Investigators tell Action News they have not been able to confirm or deny that Joann Taylor or her husband, Mark Taylor, exist.
Skelton is separated from his wife who has full custody of the children. He was allowed planned visits which is why the boys were in his home over the Thanksgiving holiday. Skelton claims Taylor was supposed to return the children to their mother, but never did.

Search Crews Looking For Boys
myfoxDetroit.com - Fox 2 News has an update to an AMBER ALERT involving three young children from Lenawee County. Police from the city of Morenci and search crews are looking for the three boys: Andrew Skelton,9, Alexander William Skelton, 7, and Tanner Skelton,5. Their father is in the hospital after attempting suicide. Police say he left a disturbing message on his Facebook page.
The three boys were last seen Friday around 2:30 p.m. Police say their father gave the boys to a woman he met on the internet to return them to their mother, but that woman, Joann Taylor, allegedly took the boys. Taylor is believed to be from Jackson and may be driving a silver van.
Today search crews meet at the fire station where they are being dispatched to various locations, including places the three boys were known to play. The FBI is out in these areas searching separately and choppers are also assisting in the search.

The boys' father told police he planned to kill himself, and that is why he left his children with his acquaintance. The Detroit News reports that the man did attempt suicide and was hospitalized in Ohio.

Searchers focus on Ohio State Park in search for three missing boys
Searchers are scouring an Ohio state park this afternoon for three young boys they fear are in "extreme danger," left by their father with a stranger just before he attempted suicide.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Department confirmed that volunteers are canvassing Harrison Lake State Park in northwest Ohio, about 10 miles south of Morenci.

But the Skelton boys -- Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner, 5 -- are missing, and police have not been able to find a Joann Taylor. Skelton also posted a Facebook message Wednesday indicating that he hoped God and his wife would forgive him.
For what is unclear.

Police: Missing Mich. boys' dad lied about woman
The police chief in the southern Michigan community of Morenci (muh-REN'-see) says he believes the father of three missing boys lied about a relationship with a woman he claims to have entrusted with their care.
Police doubt 39-year-old John Skelton's story about handing his children over to a woman named Joann Taylor before attempting suicide. Five-year-old Tanner, 7-year-old Alexander and 9-year-old Andrew were last seen Thursday and are believed to be in danger.

Police: Missing Mich. boys' dad lied about woman
The police chief in the southern Michigan community of Morenci (muh-REN'-see) says he believes the father of three missing boys lied about a relationship with a woman he claims to have entrusted with their care.
Police doubt 39-year-old John Skelton's story about handing his children over to a woman named Joann Taylor before attempting suicide. Five-year-old Tanner, 7-year-old Alexander and 9-year-old Andrew were last seen Thursday and are believed to be in danger.

Jacksonville Connection to Search For Missing Michigan Boys
...... John Skelton is hospitalized and his mom, who lives in Jacksonville, says her son would never hurt his boys.
"I know my son, he's not a monster," Roxann Skelton told the Detroit Free Press. "He's a good son and he would not harm his boys. I know those children are, you know, still with us."
Cops are not ruling out the possibility that John Skelton is a suspect in the boys' disappearance.

Search Continues for 3 Michigan Brothers and "Mystery Woman" Not Seen Since Father Attempted Suicide
..... On "The Early Show" Monday, Pat Brown, a criminal profiler, said the father's story is the "biggest bunch of bull I ever heard."
"It's a bogus story," she said.
"Doesn't make a darn bit of sense. We're talking about a man who he just wants the children to go back to the mother, so he can commit suicide. Why doesn't he simply drive them over there and drop the children himself or have his mother do it? Why does he call some stranger, and oh, by the way, he can't even give the police the woman's address or phone number? They have no idea how he even contacted her. Yeah, he has no record on his cell phone. He has no record on his Internet. It's a bogus story."
Brown said the spelling of the mystery woman's name is "curious."
She said, "If I'm reading correctly, this is the spelling he gave to the police: he said Joann, without an e. His mother's name is Roxaan, which is fascinating, because a lot of times [if] you try to come up with a phony name you will pick something close to what you already know. So, it's hard to come up with something completely unknown to you say, let me think, I know a guy named Joe - or Joann like my mother's name. I think he made up the names.
"And that suicide attempt? Don't buy that, either. How do you fail to hang yourself? Almost everybody who tries can do it successfully. I think he's pretending to be in insane; that's just his defense starting to set up there."

Search for missing Morenci brothers called off at Ohio campground
A search at a 64-acre campground in Pioneer for three missing brothers from Morenci was called off Monday afternoon after crews hunted through the area for about 90 minutes.
The firefighters and police officers had been searching the Lazy River Resort campground off of U.S. 20. After disbanding, the crews were headed back to a community center in Pioneer.
"We don't feel there's anything of value here," Cpl. Jeff Paterson said of the campground search.
Doug Rowland, the campground owner, said he received a call Sunday night from authorities saying they had information that the brothers' father, John Skelton, 39, may have used his cell phone in the immediate area.
Mr. Rowland said there are no records showing the Skelton family ever camped in the location. The campground has been closed since Oct. 10 but it can still be accessed by the public.

gosh this is so complex ! I am surprised they gave up after 90 minutes though. Short time in comparison to searches in UK remember? Still if wrong place best to move on. Hope these boys are found very soon as heartbreaking.

A search for three missing brothers from Morenci has turned ominous this afternoon. Investigators are combing through 18 miles of roadway in Fulton and Williams counties in Ohio in the belief John Skelton may have left his sons there.
Fire Chief Scott Damon of Cambridge Township, Mich., told a group of firefighters preparing to search that the Morenci father "may have just dumped them on the road."
Authorities turned their attention to northern Ohio today after three days of hunting for 9-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Tanner Skelton. They were last seen Thursday and their father's story of their disappearance involving a mystery woman has since been determined by officials to be a lie.
In an interview with The News, Damon said: "I think we're looking for anything that could help with investigation."
Searchers were transported on busses over to the rural area this afternoon in hopes of finding clues to the children's whereabouts.
